We stayed here in 2016, and loved it! the room was newly updated, with very nice pillows and comforters, and the staff was really nice. We decided to take a spur-of-the-moment trip to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg for Mother's Day, and I knew that the experience and price we had last time was great, so I booked a room again. After arriving, we realized that over half the hotel was missing from last time, including the room we previously stayed in. I had to call a number on the door for someone to come check me in. The man, I presume the owner, checked me in finally. He was nice, so I didn't mind waiting. I thought he told me I looked beautiful, but I wasn't sure because of his accent, but accepted the compliment and my fiance, our son, and myself went to our room. No big deal.
We get into the room and the AC is unplugged. No problem; we're able to plug it back in ourselves. The room was 85 degrees when we got in there. The bathroom had to be over 100 degrees. We set the AC for 62, and left for our outing. We came back to the room at 11, and it was just as hot in the room as before we left! We set the air to the lowest setting, 50 degrees, and waited for it to cool down. And waited, and waited, and waited. The room was still uncomfortably hot. At this point, after struggling to get our over-tired and homesick 2 year old to bed, it was 12:30 at night. We decided not to bother with trying to get a different room, as we have to check out at 11 in the morning anyway. At one point, I ended up trying to sleep in the floor, on some chair cushions and a spare blanket as a bed, because it was a tad cooler. By tad, I mean MAYBE 3 degrees. That was not helping, and I was in pain from the hard floor, so I laid in the bed with my feet at the top, and pretty much sweated all night until finally passing out from pure frustration and exhaustion. Waking up this morning, the room had only cooled down to maybe 75 degrees, and the bathroom was still a good 85 degrees, easily.
At this point, I'm ready to leave, so we load up, and I go to check out. The same guy takes my key-card, and says "this is good?". I'm confused on what he's trying to say, and really don't feel like spending the whole day explaining about the air, so I say yes. He then begins to tell me how beautiful I look today. I say thanks, uncomfortably, but accepting. Whatever, I can take a compliment. But, he then proceeds to say "I would like to hug you?" In shock, I reply "No thanks. We need to be going now. We have to be somewhere." He says "Oh, so no hug you? This is okay" Again, I say "No thanks. We need to go" He replies "Okay. Is that your husband?" Not wanting to spend any longer in the room with him, and with hopes that it would put and end to whatever he was doing, I say "Yeah! He's my husband. That's our son, too" He replies "So no hug you? This is okay. You look beautiful today. Very pretty." THEN HE PROCEEDS TO DO SMOOCHES LIKE HE'S BLOWING ME A KISS. VERY uncomfortably, I say "Thank you! Do I need to do anything else? He says "You're welcome. smooch smooch No this is good. You're very pretty. smooch" I say "Okay. Thank you." and turn to leave. He then proceeds to tell me that if I order online, I save 10 % and tried to pull out a card for me. He finally gets the card out, and writes his number on it, and told me to call it. Presumably about the room next time I book, but I think we all know what he meant. I again say thank you, and he proceeds to blow me some more smooches, and at this point I'm running to my car. My fiance had the door locked, and I was so sketched out, I was panicking and yanking on it. Never again will we book there. The rooms are nice, great comforters, great pillows, big TV (few channels), WiFi (very iffy on it working), full size new refrigerators, and very affordable prices. If you book here, I suggest either having a male check in for you if you are a female, or if there isn't a male available, take someone in with you to book....
Read moreAbsolute garbage. Let's start with the arrival... I walk in expecting "great, friendly staff" according to the reviews (Which I'm sure are made by the owner on multiple accounts) and I received the complete opposite. The man at the counter was on his cell phone on speaker while checking me in... He continued to hold his conversation on his cell phone periodically while checking me in. While checking in a customer is behind us and tells me "make sure he gives you a vacant room because I just walked in on an elderly couple in their bed". So I go to the room, drive by the pool which is nice and green and untreated. Goodness was the room awful on top of the ONE cheap room key they gave us without a room number on it. It was one of those keys you have to swipe over the sensor to unlock it, which took forever because it was obviously damaged. So I knock first (Which is pathetic) and we walk in and immediately I was so embarrassed I booked this. I felt like I was in a Hostel in Mexico... scuffs on the walls, smells dirty, cheap furniture you get from a yard sale, the bed frame is on wood blocks, the sheets were filthy and stained. I am completely in shock... I return to the "friendly" worker and tell him that there's no way I'm staying here and explained above to him. He says "Here I'll upgrade you free of charge to a "suite." He goes up there with us and my guest and I examine the new room. This is a lot better than the old room but still somewhere you'd imagine a drug dealer or a prositute to inhabit. At first we tell him sure... This will work. The more we examined it the more we realized this room isn't any better, just sprayed with Febreeze and slightly upgraded with used furniture. We go to dinner and can't leave our belongings in the room because we were scared the guy would accidentally give someone else our key and they would steal our belongings. At dinner we agree that we need to go somewhere else and found a fantastic room and deal at Quality Inn. I return to the Mexican Hostel to request a possible refund which I was expecting based on how cheap and "friendly" these people obviously are and of course goes downhill. I tell him that I'd like a refund and that we're going somewhere else and his exact words were "Sorry sir but our policy states that once we offer you an upgrade and you accept and are in possession of the room for 3 or 4 hours we can't give you a refund". Ironically we were gone for 3 hours at dinner and finding a new hotel. I didn't sign this "agreement" I was not acknowledged about this "agreement" until I requested a refund. He says you can speak to our refund manager tomorrow and I tell him "Yes, when will he be in?" This guy responds with "Uh he gets in at like 7 and leaves around 10 or 11 or so." What!?!?! Unbelievable. STAY AWAY. THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE WRITTEN A NEGATIVE REVIEW ON ANYTHING. I'M A VERY PATIENT AND UNDERSTANDING PERSON BUT THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE.
Update::: I returned the next day for my attempted refund and spoke to one of the owners and explained everything above. He refunded me half and apologized for everything. Very respectful, very helpful. Found out the employee from the day before upgraded me to the wrong room. He showed me the room I should have been upgraded to and it was a definite improvement and also said they're in the process of remodeling all rooms but it's taking a lot of time. I hope you meet with him if you happen to book a room after reading my experience. Stayed here in the middle...
Read moreLong but worth it! As the manager of a 5*bed and breakfast I would like to say I know what to look for on cleanliness of rooms and friendliness of staff. We originally booked at this location because it had a Jacuzzi tub. We were in room 206 which seemed pretty clean. The first thing I always do is check the air filters in the unit and they were clean. There was some wrappers behind the bed but nothing too bad. The first night we used the Jacuzzi tub and the Jets did not work also it did not drain you had to hold the lever down until the whole tub drained which took about 20 minutes. There was also mold above the air conditioner. The rooms said they had noise makers but they don't. The windows do not have curtains they're solid wood that close off all light. The mattress was terrible. It was actually a memory foam but it had never been spun around so I literally cried in the middle of the night because I have cervical problems. Now this is where the change happens. Also, I wanted to know when we checked in there was two gentlemen by the name of like Larry and Jerry or something they rhymed. They were super nice. Also gave me a bunch of extra towels and coffee. By the way the coffee in 206 was not good. I went to the desk and met with the owners the next morning and they were wonderful. I told them about all of our issues and they gladly moved me to a room at Cars cottages which is next door. It was on the river and very nice. The room was clean, instead of carpet it had nice laminate flooring and a balcony. I stayed in room 303 and I loved it. It was two beds instead of one but the bed closest to the exterior door going to the balcony was firm and I loved it. Everything seemed to be clean as well. What was cool though is once removed to that one we drove out to get breakfast about 20 minutes later and noticed that maintenance was already in room 206 repairing everything that we had complained about. I think that is a testament to how much they care. I would definitely stay here again based on the customer service I got. I would always choose cars cottages though as they seem to be a little bit more taken care of. But the Jacuzzi was nice even if it didn't have bubbles! The only thing I would like to see is triple sheeting on the beds because that shows me everything is washed each time. We had the same coffee in the room at Carr's cottages but it was completely different and better. I'm thinking the ones that the first location were just old. So, amazing customer service, their team jump right on the repairs and we were moved with no issues. This is located up 321 about a mile off of the parkway. It is a steep incline so I would not recommend walking. It is across the street from a flapjacks pancake cabin, 1.8 mi from McDonald's and food City. Also about 3 mi from the craft village. This is a quiet...
