We recently moved to the area and decided to visit the Country Cobbler and we were not disappointed in the least. Doug, the owner, is not only a true artisan but also a genuinely kind and fascinating individual. From the moment we walked in, Doug and his four-legged gentle sweetest co-owner, Luke, warmly welcomed us like old friends. The shop has an inviting, rustic charm that immediately sets the tone for something special.
Doug has a rich background in leatherwork, the movie industry, and equestrian sports — and he shares incredible stories that bring his history and craftsmanship to life. His passion for the art is evident in every detail of his work.
He custom-crafted a stunning belt and matching holster for my husband. The design was not only beautiful but also perfectly functional — tailored precisely for fit and form. You can tell Doug approaches each piece with intention, artistic flair, and expert skill.
It is rare to find this level of care, talent, and personal connection in today’s world. If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind leather piece or just want to meet someone with an interesting life story and a warm heart, don’t miss The Country Cobbler. Highly...
Read moreThe country cobbler is one of my top destinations when we visit the Smokies. They have the most beautiful jewelry and excellent leather goods. My husband requested Doug to make a sheath for his knife. It was finished when promised, extremely durable and very good looking. Becky is a lovely, talented lady. She didn't mind at all when I roamed her shop gawking forever at all the goodies! The shop smells great and I love that I can buy handmade articles right from the crafters themselves! I do a little leather work myself self and also bought some nice leather pieces there. These are 2 genuine people with great talent. They are good natured and nice. I don't blame Doug for asking children not to touch the items. I would not want to purchase something that kids had their...
Read moreRUDEST BUSINESS OWNER EVER! BEWARE! My family and I went into the store while we were on vacation in Gatlinburg because my father forgot his belt. We walked in and saw the owner and my dad said, “Hey man, I’m looking for a belt.” The man literally grunted and pointed towards the unfinished belts. My dad found one he liked and went back to the owner to ask about a buckle. The man quite literally IGNORED my dad. We stood shocked for a minute then just walked out. My only guess is it was because we were tourists and he assumed we weren’t going to really buy anything. HORRIBLE. We will never darken...
