Not going to lie, I don't post reviews often, but I felt like this was something to address. I've been in here multiple times and each times I wasn't greeted or acknowledged. The first time someone was playing elden ring, saw me come in, then just went back to the game.
Honestly that's fine. You don't have to greet me. What bothered me is that I asked about a few different specific things and was basically told "all we have is over there". Instead of a "I'll help you look" I get waved off essentially.
I'm only writing this review because I've seen many game shops fail. Be it covid, lack of profit, shops usually last 2 or so years which is upsetting because I grew up going to card shops. So I was ecstatic to learn about a new location nearby, but both times I've been in I've felt extremely unwanted. It's a shame because I believe places like this need loyal and long term regulars to survive, and by not putting in the effort to actually make people feel like this is a good place to spend your money or a good place to just be in general, you lose that potential clientele. I even considered coming in and grabbing some collectors boosters for FF MTG, but recalling my past experiences I decided to go down the road and buy a box there.
To the owner, I hope you actually take this to heart and talk to your staff about acknowledging people coming in or taking more interest when people ask for help. Yes, 90 percent of the time it's just people who will window shop, but that 10 percent creates a loyal clientele. Would have loved to use this as a new spot to host my D&D campaign, but after two repeated incidents of what I described above, I'll just stick to my other shop.
I never want to see a card shop fail, and I wish all of you luck. But seriously, just say welcome in or ask people if you can help them look for something.
Edit: The owner has taken my post to heart as seen in the response so I've decided to change my rating from 1 to 4 stars. Although I didn't have good experiences, the ability to take feedback and to own up if someone had a bad experience and apologize is what helps people and places grow, and I feel it's only fair. I'm willing to give the store another shot next time I'm looking...
Read moreCame in today on New Years day to sell a bunch of Flesh and Blood cards I had laying around as I do not play it anymore and wanted to recover space and could use some cash for upcoming expenses.
I spent time ensuring my cards were valuable ahead of time but didn't come in with a full expectation for how much I would receive or how the process would work or if I would get an offer for all my cards (200-300 cards total).
I met with Kyle who was very genuine and nice. After I explained my situation, he recommended me to take time to count the value of my cards so he could make sure we made a deal that made sense for both of us which makes sense. I spent about an hour tallying up everything and found the value of my cards was far greater than I expected. I brought the numbers to Kyle and I expected him to go through the same process but instead he just trusted my math.
The going rate for buying singles at the store is 40 percent of TCGPlayer low. However, Kyle was direct and explained FAB isn't a game he is super knowledgeable or feels is a game that he can sell singles for quickly. I would agree with this as when I was browsing stores to sell to, I didn't see a lot of stores advertise that they bought Flesh and Blood and going in I thought there was a consideration that I might not be able to sell all the cards today. So we worked out a deal at a lower value than the 40 percent and I decided to take a split of cash (paid in $100 cash and the rest venmo) and store credit.
From there, Kyle helped me out to get some cards for a MTG deck using the store credit which I have recently been dipping my toes into and trying out. I really appreciate the comfortable and clean vibe of the store with lots of space, I didn't mind spending a lot of time here what so ever and they have plenty of space for events.
Overall, I find Kyle to be a really warm and laid-back person who is running a business based on trust and transparency which I can really appreciate and that wants me...
Read moreMEH is the LGS I go to when I’m looking for hot mtg singles in my area, and they have always had what I’m looking for so far , from the 50 cent outdated forgotten commander fodder cards to the recent set hot picks AND they are solid for when I turn around a good pull in colors I don’t want//mechanics I don’t use and give a decent price for cards in store credit trade in - I’m shy and I have only played in location a couple of times but the few times I have come around with my pods for commander - the staff and regulars have been so so friendly and welcoming ESPECIALLY the Owner Kyle who is always kind and patient when I come crawling back with an overwhelming amount of cards I’m trying to free myself from. The place is pretty compact so there isn’t a lot of privacy but the tables are well kept and the store is clean ( and thankfully beautifully air conditioned thank you Kyle) with a Solid collection of non mtg TCG as well as TCG standard accessories like binders, boxes and sleeves. The ONLY thing I could possibly say as a let know before heading over is that the actual sealed packs offered are veered towards recent releases with some easy grab classic packs but if you’re looking for a specific sealed booster pack and not a single, I’d ring ahead to double check what they have in stock just in case ( also though they do have a decent collection of PreCon Commander decks for impulse purchase or instant hands on grab and go decks) (( thank you Kyle for running this very lovely very local hotspot for fueling my magic ‘ sweet treat’...
