Unfortunately this locations rooms are definitely the most broken I've ever been to. I have tried Buried Alive and most recently The Cursed Vault. Although both of these rooms have one similar, and similarly clunky puzzle where you are putting pieces of things vaguely together, what really put me off were the mechanical failures in The Cursed Vault.
We were originally going to book for Lab Disaster, but was told that the mechanisms were broken and we were asked to book a different room, where we landed on The Cursed Vault.
There was one lock far too sensitive to be fair to the player, and which lost our team about 5 minutes while we second guessed ourselves. We had to ask the gm directly if we had the right answer, and they conceded that the lock was finicky.
The last puzzle was also completely mechanically broken. We were unable to complete the puzzle due to the mechanism failing, and instead we were just told that they gave the win to us. This felt like a complete robbery of all satisfaction.
Walking out I told the GM how disappointing that was, and the response was, paraphrasing, "yeah, if you think that's bad, one of our other rooms doesn't even work right and we had to shut it down." Why yes, I do think that a catastrophic failure of the final puzzle is bad. And it sounds like there's worse. He was no doubt talking about Lab Disaster, which I guess is ironically named. The response probably came from a place of teenage awkwardness of not knowing how to respond to a grumbling customer. Ive been there and am completely willing to forgive that, but it was a revealing response.
The acknowledgement that these mechanical issues exist without the apparent urgency by management to fix them is concerning. I've not had a similar experience at the Denver location, so I'd keep them on your radar, but I think you're talking a risk on rooms at this location. With so much competition out there, I'd encourage management to more regularly or thoroughly maintain rooms in order to keep positive...
Read moreWe just played the President's Briefcase which was the 30th room we've ever done. We chose this place based on the reviews and were very disappointed. Upon entry, we were really underwhelmed by the decor. It just looked like someone went to a thrift store and put a bunch of random boxes and statues on metal shelves. There were a TON of padlocks. Nothing was very exciting to open or innovative, just mostly padlocks! Two of the puzzles were frustrating. One could be read upside down so it provided an incorrect code until we read it the other way. Another code had a number which could be a 6 or 9 since it could be flipped which was also frustrating. The sheer amount of puzzles was just too much. They had you count something in the room. We counted correctly but they said there was one less because they didn't want us to use the back of something. A lot of things were ripped and in bad shape in the room. There were do not touch stickers everywhere (like on a shelf) but we were supposed to touch things on the shelf which was very confusing! We were also getting clues we weren't asking for and had already figured out things or were in the middle of getting something when the clue was given which was not fun. There was also a honking sound coming from our timer about every other minute which was incredibly annoying, it didn't add anything to the experience and was just distracting. We love escape rooms and went with people who have not been very much so we're disappointed this room is now on their resume. There are plenty of other amazing escape rooms and we will be driving further to go to those ones next time and will not be...
Read moreI was black listed over a misunderstanding even after myself and other members of my group apologized and offered to fix the situation. The employees declined our offer and said it’s no problem but blacklisted me anyway. My group was doing the buried alive room and one of the members of our group was supposed to drop off her children to their dad before coming but something came up and she had to bring them with her and showed up half way through the game. We let the employee know she would be late and needs to pay for herself and he said it’s fine. When she arrived the employee let her and her two children in the room where we were and when it was done the same employee said he got in trouble for letting them in without paying. I don’t see how that’s our fault since we let him know she would be late and has to pay for herself. So myself and other members of our group said we would pay for her and he said it’s no problem and we don’t have to pay and assured us it was fine so we thanked him and left. Now today when we showed up to do another game I was told I was blacklisted for that incident and even though I tried to explain to the manager he wouldn’t listen and said he doesn’t believe me and is not going to change his mind. He was very rude and was accusing me of purposely...
