There have been many reviews on here that discuss the girl behind the counter being rude. I am here to testify it is 100% true. If I could leave zero stars, I would. My mother and I just arrived to Helen and wanted to try this place that is celiac friendly. This was our first stop, and we had only been in the town for about 20 minutes. We walked in and the lady at the front counter immediately seemed like she didn’t want us there. She had an attitude with any question we had, and obviously we didn’t know what they had to eat or their seating policy since we are from out of state. I told her I had allergies, and I was interested what I was could eat. I am allergic to tomatoes, gluten, and eggs. I tried to order a couple different items, and she told me they had my allergies in them. That was perfectly fine. She told me I could get a certain hamburger on the menu and get a gluten free bun. I said that was fine, and she proceeded to tell me the brand of gluten free bread they use does not have eggs in them. I explained the brand they use does have eggs in their bread, so I can’t have it due to my egg allergy. I would be fine without a bun. She became aggravated and argued with me saying the brand they used does not contain eggs. She stormed in the kitchen and then proceeded to come back and admit it does has eggs. If I would’ve trusted that, I would be in the hospital right now. I told her that was okay. I would just get the hamburger patty with pineapple that she suggested. She went and got her manager saying “let me see if he is willing to make this for you” only to proceed to start yelling in front of the entire restaurant that “we are arguing every point and he needed to come talk to us.” At no point did we ask to modify anything or get upset that I couldn’t have certain foods. I simply agreed to get what she suggested. At this point, I was upset that I was being screamed at and treated like a dog. I understand allergies can be aggravating to accommodate, but I don’t see why I couldn’t get something so simple that she recommended. When we asked for her name she said “what, are you going to call my manager or something?” We proceeded to explain that I can’t help my allergies and didn’t deserve to be treated this rudely. She yelled at us saying “you should’ve called ahead and told us all this before you came.” We hadn’t been in town for more than 20 minutes and didn’t know we would need to. I’ve never had a problem anywhere I’ve ever been. The owner came out and told us she is use to people screaming at her and justified her behavior towards us. Not one time were we rude or raised our voices. I simply wanted to be treated like every other paying customer. The owner asked us to leave because he wasn’t willing to serve me and told me to go get my own food at the grocery store. He said no one in town would be willing to serve me. I felt like an inconvenience to them and was treated poorly from the second we walked in. Luckily, another restaurant served us with no problem. Do not go to Brickhouse. Go to Cowboys and Angels if you would like excellent food and to be treated like a human being. Server was fantastic and the food...
Read moreMy family and I came to visit Helen this weekend and this was the only place that didn’t have anyone there so we decided to try it.. Let me start by saying, the food was delicious. Everyone genuinely enjoyed their food. We got burgers, macaroni, carbonara, onion rings, pizza, shrimp, calzone... and for us to get so many different things and all of it to be delicious is rare so I applaud them for that. However, the hospitality here was the absolute worst. For this reason alone it’s unlikely we would return and truthfully speaking, which we also had said to them, if we hadn’t have already going through the hassle of taking 9 different orders and paying we would have certainly turned around and went somewhere else. The owner (woman) did not really want us there from the beginning and seemed like we were too much of an inconvenience... mind you, we stayed outside- we never let the kids in other than to use the restroom, we wrote down our entire order so it made it easier to put in, the whole 9... I strongly feel that if you hate your job, you shouldn’t be in the building, I also think if you are in a known tourist destination- your hospitality should be A1, and this place was very very far from it..
Let me also add that the server we had was amazing! She checked on us often, she had a funny personality, and was extremely personable!
Edited to add that I went to read the lowest reviews after writing this- and they all say the same thing about the...
Read moreThe food was FRESH and AWESOME! We had Adam as our server and he was so sweet and professional! Lots of vegetarian options available! We had: French Fries: Thick cut, very fresh, served with an authentic home made dip and can be generously shared between 2/ have a few pieces each for a party of 4 ( definitely recommend it) Pepper Poppers: 7 pieces of insanely hot and fresh crispy cheese filled jalapeno goodies. Garlic Knots: 6 pieces of garlic bread( not knots lol ) with their home made marinara sauce. The bread was soft and had a good hint of the garlic powder at top. Garden Lovers Large pizza: 8 slices of 16 inch pizza - easily feeds 4. INSANELY good with the best cheese I've seen so far! Spaghetti and Marinara ( from the kids menu ): Enough for 1/ can be shared between 2 people. It's the spaghetti with their home made Marinara ( same as the one given for the garlic knots )
Overall, I can confirm that the food was FRESH and not any of the frozen stuff at all. All of the food was very good and had a damn good taste! Also we confirmed that everything we had was vegetarian - including the oil it was fried in, the side dips/ sauces too.
Definitely would recommend it when you visit Helen! Especially for vegetarians! ( There's paid parking lot available very close by - a bit expensive - 10$ but there's not much options...
