We've been to Hermann a number of times but this October (2022) was the first time we stayed at The Wohlt House. My group of six adults rented the entire house and WOW, are we glad we did! What an amazing place. It's right where all of the action is during October Fest! The house itself is beautiful and is set up to maximize your relaxation. The big jet tubs in the downstairs rooms are a great feature as well as the big clawfoot tub in the upstairs bathroom. Since we rented the entire house (highly recommend!), we also had full access to the kitchen which was nice because we picked up some groceries and made breakfast and one dinner which we enjoyed in the house. We played games and enjoyed the wine we picked up throughout our wine tasting adventure. It was the most fun we have had in a long time. The back deck on the second level is a nice, relaxing place to enjoy morning coffee, or evening drinks. The beds were very spacious with enough blankets and pillows to keep us comfortable and the TV's had our favorite apps so we could watch our shows if we wanted to. We had so much fun, we were exhausted every night and never even watched the TV's but it's nice to have the option. The owners are very cool. We had some trouble with day visitors taking up parking spots in the private lot but the owners were quick to help remedy the situation. If you're looking for a beautiful, comfortable, and very convenient place to stay that is right downtown in Hermann, look no further. If you have a group, I can't recommend renting the entire house enough for your stay. It was really very reasonably priced for everything we got with this stay. 10/10,...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed in the Winter Garden room at Wohlt House July 28-30th, 2017. We took the Amtrak from KC and Judy kindly picked us up at the station (which is only 3 blocks away). We immediately felt "at home", with gorgeous furnishings, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, etc. The house is across the street from Hermannhof Winery and Dierberg Winery and a couple of blocks a from Tin Mill Brewery. The hospitality of everyone we met in Hermann was outstanding and Judy's breakfasts were scrumptious. Especially on Sunday morning with her special recipe French toast. One other couple from Ozark, MO were staying in the house and we all had great and lively conversation with breakfast. Our train was not leaving until 5:30 on Sunday and we were able to leave our luggage and near case of area wines in the house and Judy took us to the station again! She was the best hostess! We enjoyed great meals in Hermann at the Black Walnut Bistro and at the Alpenhorn Gasthouse. Highly recommend! The Hermann Shuttle (not the one that only stays within a few miles of Hermann) for 20.00 per person, picked us up at Wohlt House in the morning and brought us back at 9PM after dinner. We enjoyed a wonderful day of sampling Missouri wines and met several fun couples from many places. This was a Wine Trail Weekend, but it didn't feel crowded at all. Make plans for your trip and stay at Judy's Wohlt House. You won't be...
Read moreWe were excited to celebrate our 30th anniversary in Hermann during Octoberfest. We love staying in B & Bs and know every experience is unique but this one was very disappointing. We were aware that breakfast would be provided in the form of vouchers to a nearby restaurant. No problem except we got $20 in vouchers for the whole weekend and the cost for one day was $30 for an all you can eat buffet of greasy, salty slop that didn’t even have all the advertised items available. Definitely not worth $30. Our room was stocked with a coffee pot and 2 complimentary bottles of water for the entire weekend. As other reviewers have mentioned, the train runs right behind the house, which is also on a busy road with obnoxious people going by all night long. The noise must be a frequent complaint since we found a single set of ear plugs. Two would’ve been nice. The house & our room were nice but there was no bedside table on one side of the bed so nowhere to put eye glasses, cell phone, etc. Sadly, Octoberfest overall has lost its appeal for us. Very few folks in costume, no German music (that we heard), & very commercialized. Doubt we...
