1 star for the location and half a star because i didn’t see roaches in the room (it was pretty cold when i stayed there though). Literally the only good thing about this place is the location. Otherwise I honestly believe you should pay the little extra for any other place. The place is not maintained at all, our room didn’t even have a real door but some sort of garden door. Therefore you could not only hear everything that was going on outside but you are also not protected against wind, rain, roaches etc. Half of the time people would leave the door open so you better lock everything in the lockers. The lockers are big but made out of plastic so not really very stable. The room itself is old which wouldn’t even be that much of a problem but it’s also dirty. There were old sweets on the window sill, empty bottles and old flipflops under the bed. There is no space for guests to put their stuff other than the lockers so people would store everything on the floor like backpacks, wet towels, creams etc. The bathroom wasn’t better, also no place to store anything or hang your towels. There was literally one hook in the bathroom, that’s it. Also, we stayed in a 6 bed dorm but there was another room right next to it, so it’s not 6 people using 1 bathroom but 8 (other room is a private). I don’t appreciate that kind of unfair advertisement as I clearly booked a 6 bed dorm. There were a lot of people wandering around the hostel looking like staff but you could never know who’s responsible for what or who’s working there. Seems like the people who do the cleaning are also travellers who stay a little longer in hawaii but don’t really care that much for the cleaning part and more for the cheap (free?) stay which would explain the condition of the place. Internet wasn’t good too. All in all this has been my worst hostel experience by far and I am travelling a lot- I honestly recommend to stay elsewhere, Honolulu is expensive but here you also pay way too much for what you get. This place would have potential but it seems totally abandoned.

I like the location it's very close to the beach. And It's have a lot of store and Resturant all around. The bed is so comfy and staff are very very nice. Room clean and cheap. The hostel provides you everything. They have snorkel, beach chair, beach mat, swimming feet, beach umbrella and even body board for you, omg sooooooo good. I prefers 4 ppl dorm more than 2 private dorm because in 4 ppl dorm (2 bunkbed) I got the first floor room close to the entrance property door and it's quite, the bathroom separate 3 small room- changing room, bathroom and restroom. In a private two-person room, even though it is a private room with two people inside, it is actually part of a larger six-person shared space. This means that there are a total of eight people in the entire area, all sharing the same bathroom. Sometimes, the wait can be long, so I often have to go down to use the lobby restroom. But that’s not really a problem—I just wanted to say that, for me, a four-person dormitory-style room is a better option. And that night, I could barely sleep without earplugs because the room was right next to the street, and it was extremely noisy—sounds from shops and people. So, make sure you have earplugs. (don’t worry if you don’t have ears plug they provide you at the front desk) On my first night in a four-person dorm, if you happen to encounter inconsiderate people like I did, it can be a challenge. At midnight, the person in the bunk below mine brought friends from outside to sit and chat, making it nearly impossible for me to sleep. So, if you’re staying in a shared space, please be considerate of others. I can say since this is my solo trip and my first time in Honolulu I love this place and if I go back again, I will stay at the same place. It's very safe for the woman like me.

Seaside is one of the few affordable/cheap places in Oahu and is located in the center of Waikiki! That’s it! Nothing else positive about this place. I‘ve been to many places around the globe, but haven’t seen such a rundown place and that’s a pity as the hostel actually has potential. Don‘t know when the place was maintained the last time. Must have been years ago. We literally had no real door to our room. The door was around 30 cm above the floor, so open doors to sound, things, dust and insects from outside. Front desk staff was nice. Seems like many people are involved, however you don’t know who is in charge. There is no real organization besides check-in/Check-out, breakfast and surfing lessons organized. Many people(potentially staff) are using the showers and facilities inside the room, who are actually not sleeping in your room. I organized an anti-bacterial spray myself to feel comfortable in my bed as my legs were itchy like hell after one night. Seems like the owner is just trying to make money, not investing much, as budget travellers have no choice anyway.

It was my first time visiting Hawaii with my sister and to save some money for other excursions, we stayed here. I will say that this place is ideal if you intend to book a place with affordable pricing especially in Honolulu. This hostel is more for convenience as oppose to luxury and comfort. Good place to stay if you're travelling with a group. It's pretty safe to browse around the area after sunset.

Pros location- everything is accessible as you are in the heart of the city. restaurants, shops, souvenirs, bus stops etc. ABC store at every corner, the Waikiki beach is about 15 min walk. Staff visits the rooms, 2-3 times a day to take out trash, and stock up on toilet paper. washrooms are clean, surf board rentals.

Good place to stay if you enjoy the company of others or looking for an affordable place to stay. No curfew. animal companion sometime on site- a large German shepherd, very friendly dog :)

Cons No air conditioning, it can be really hot in the rooms. We travelled during August but thankfully with two fans we had in our rooms, we cooled down after sometime.

I am also a very tidy person and am considerate around others who need a shut-eye for the night. Depending on your roommates, it can be deal breaker. One of our roommates was messy and left her clothes hanging everywhere but for most part, we had considerate roommates who came in quietly during the night and we all limited our shower time.

the beds are comfortable for most part but found the top bunk very squeaky and hard to get down if you're a bigger person. Roaches- you can expect to see roaches in Hawaii which is not a surprise. Although our rooms were clean for most part, I saw a roach once on my way to the bathroom. you may see a roach or two outside by the patio but then again, you are visiting a very warm climate. downstairs, there is an open-concept kitchen so bugs are bound to come in regardless.

noise level- since you are in the heart of the city, you may hear people in the middle of the night. there is also a bar next door. No washing machine/dryer no breakfast offered, except for coffee/tea

wifi- I had trouble with the wi-fi connection during the evening. I would not...

Overall, It's great place to stay when you want everything to be accessible and convenient. The walk to Waikiki beach is 20 mins, the international marketplace (restaurants and shopping), souvenir shops on every block (i.e. the ABC store), bus stations etc.

Pros: Most affordable (I was able to go on snorkeling/surfing, hiking trips, and fancy restaurants) The staff are super friendly, including their lovable animal companion-a friendly German Shepperd The beds are comfortable, bathroom and room are clean and tidy. I really appreciate the staff checking the room 2-3 times a day to stock up toilet paper, and taking out garbage You will enjoy the stay if you have courteous and respectful guests who will stay in same room as you. I.E. I shared a room with 8 girls and there's one bathroom. We all limit shower time to 10 mins, or if someone goes to bed early, others walk in quietly or whisper, turn the lights off. I personally haven't came across a cockroach in the room:) Kitchen, phone charging stations at the patio hangout area, lounge area to chill. I love coming across the cute little geckos^-^ They would chill by the trees. Don't be frighten if you see one run across. They are harmless
