May 2017 Review of the Drury Inn at Grove City Ohio
My family and I recently stayed at the Drury Inn in Grove City Ohio. Let me just say “amazing customer service”!!! We booked here because we needed a suite and it was close to our daughter who was getting married. The hotel was easily accessible from the highway, lots of stores and restaurants close by. The staff was fabulous, very courteous and helpful!!! The overall hotel was very clean. The rooms were very clean (we booked 2). The only problem we had was the suite smelled as if someone had smoked in it. It was not horribly overwhelming, but there was an underlying smoke smell. I asked the front desk if they had another room close by, or 2 similar to what we had. The manager, Mike Marcus, immediately came to our room and walked us around to some other rooms to “smell” if they were any better. He was so nice, he really went out of his way to help us. Amazing customer service! The hotel has a pool, which the grandkids loved, it’s an inside outside pool, so you can swim under the wall and go out or in. Very neat! They basically stayed there the whole time with grandpa while we were helping getting the wedding together. There is also something called a “kick-back” which is free appetizers and a little more, during dinner hours. The grands ate there with grandpa and loved it! The hotel has free popcorn and sodas all day, great touch! One of the girls from the front desk gave my little granddaughter a little bead bracelet when we checked in! Amazing customer service! The same granddaughter got sick that next night and was in bed all the next day, and the maid was sooo helpful in replenishing everything we kept using! Amazing customer service! The breakfast buffet was wonderful, lots of options and the staff again was very helpful! Amazing customer service! We ran into a bind with not finding individual packs of butter for the wedding and the manager again came to our rescue and got us butter. Who does that?! Amazing amazing customer service!!!! I really can’t say enough about the Drury Inn. I hadn’t heard of it before, but in looking for something close to my daughter this came up. We usually book with Marriott, who are building a hotel right beside the Drury Inn. But I would definitely book here again instead of the Marriott! In these days of serve yourself, check yourself out, do it all yourself while we will stand by and watch you and charge you for the privilege of doing it all yourself. I really admire and want to patronize companies/ businesses who have exemplary customer service. The Drury Inn checks that box and more!!! It is not a ritzy glamorous 5 diamond hotel, but it’s also not a bottom of the barrel hotel. It’s not the cheapest or the most inexpensive, but it is a hotel that goes above and beyond to make your stay comfortable, enjoyable and all around wonderful! We all work very hard for our money and when we have to spend it, we would like to feel as if it was money well spent. Our money was very well spent and yours would be too (Little sales pitch there, no I don’t work for them… they are just really great)! Thanks again to the Drury Inn and their staff, in particular- Mike Marcus, Rick, Kristin, Taryn, Shannon, and Olivia! I apologize to any other staff who we did not get a name for that helped us also! Great hotel!!!! Thanks for a super groovy time!!!

LOBBY, ELEVATOR, CORRIDORS Impeccably clean, grand & inviting. The cushy seating, aromatic entryway, & spotless decor are standout. I felt at ease from the moment I entered the building & throughout the transitions-- excellent use of negative space & color psychology.
ROOM https://youtu.be/jTpV8jVZhg0 Spacious & well-appointed. Visibly high, consistent, cleaning standards from hall to room. The feature set was incredibly dense too: strong lighting, comfortably spacious for 2, enjoyable view, dedicated workstation area, ample seating, & sufficient storage options. I wish the windows were functional, but no complaints otherwise.
BED Comfy~ The double Queen configuration proved to be very restful. Linens & pillow build didn't impress texture-wise, but they did the job & were clean.
BATH Strong aesthetic; weaker on function. Medium size bathroom space with a stylish tile & textured wallpaper pairing. Despite how much I liked the design, functionally it wasn't my favorite: painful low toilet, small towels, broken fixtures, no shower liner, & the bath products (Nourish Spa) have a terrible lather.
TV & ENTERTAINMENT Bad... Tiny SD TV, serving spotty cable, operated by a universal remote with frustrating ergonomics. Luckily there is a Pool on-site.
WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION Verizon reception was notable low. WiFi was also inconsistent; Timeouts & buffer bloat started immediately after connecting. QoS is desperately in need of tuning as the network gets congested during periods of high use. Not the greatest experience for work but YMMV --Performance-- Video streaming - good Online gaming - great Video chatting - great --Nerd Stats-- 13-69 Mbps download 27-49 Mbps upload 0% packet loss 13 ms latency 7 ms jitter
FOOD & DRINK DoorDash friendly. A VERY FULL breakfast with everything your heart could desire, offered from 7-10 & 6-930. They also host a Happy hour & dinner buffet! This was one of the best food service offerings I've witnessed in a long time. Rooms are equipped with mini microwave, small mini fridge, & instant coffee maker.
NOISE Quiet & peaceful.
LOCATION Safe + Good proximity to highway, stores, etc
VERDICT I really enjoyed this stay being my first time with this brand. TVs could use a refresh, but the price point, amenities, & vibe were perfect. I'd stay here again once the WiFi is improved but would still highly recommend it to anyone else if that's not a deal-breaker for you. More people should definitely try this...
Read moreFirst off let me say Drury is my favorite chain. Have stayed at both Polaris and Dublin in Columbus, but first time at Grove City. First impression was amazing. Lobby looked beautiful and clean and gentleman at the front desk for check in was wonderful. The room was extremely clean. From there my disappointment started. The hotel was extremely crowded and one of the elevators was not working so that caused very long lines and wait times at the elevator and overstuffed elevators which honestly was concerning. Went down to the complementary dinner at 5:30 and the line for both food and drinks was just crazy. Opted to leave and go out to eat. Back in the room the mattress was extremely broken in and extremely soft and uncomfortable. All these hotels are near the highway, but this one especially was extremely loud. Felt like the window was open. The fan in the room was also loud, but did not drown out the outside noise. Woke up after a rough night of hardly sleeping and headed down to breakfast at 9 am. Another long wait for the elevator and then was greeted by another extremely long line. After a 20 minute wait finally made it to the breakfast bar. They were out of both oatmeal and eggs. The waffle station was in the middle of the line and really held up the line. They should have the waffles over by the bar area, as I’ve seen at other locations. Following breakfast I returned to a housekeeping employee about to enter my room despite the do not disturb sign and the fact that I had no checked out yet. Considering I left my purse in there when I went to breakfast, that was concerning. Went down to check out and a woman walked up to me and took my keys and asked if I needed a physical copy of the receipt or was an email fine. I said email was fine. I waited until Monday evening, the following day, and still no receipt. I had to call back and get one emailed to me. Instead of apologizing the front desk employee said did you check your spam box, which yes I did prior to calling. It should not be that difficult to just honor the request. I did finally get the requested receipt. With so many other options in the Columbus area, including two other Drury hotels, I would suggest bypassing this one. I will say this is the first time I have EVER written a negative...
