I booked online looking to save money. I booked for a 2 day stay. Arriving Feb 2, leaving out Feb 4. Well I arrive around 9pm on Friday Feb 2, checked in, walked into my room & to my surprise, it was DISGUSTINGLY DIRTY! It had a really foul smell & as I walked towards the bathroom, there was a roach 🪳 crawling! I WAS IN SHOCK HONESTLY! I immediately went back to the front desk, & demanded a refund in a very calm yet stern voice! The front desk rep said he would refund me. I told him I got on video (which I do) the nasty room with the roach crawling!!! Imagine if I would’ve just brought my bags inside that room, I could’ve took them with me!!!! He proceeded to assure me as he walked over to the computer, of a full refund. I requested some type of proof that I’ll be getting a refund. He said I’ll get an email! I never got an email, today is Tuesday Feb 6, 2024 I said ok well until I get my email write me a note saying I’m getting a refund. He printed another copy of my receipt and wrote on the back of it “Refund for bad smell in room” and put the date on it. And signed his name. I said why didn’t you put everything I said?? He replied “it’s fine, it’s fine, we are going to refund you”! I said I have a video of the room! You didn’t put bug! He said “ma’am, you will get your refund”. So I took my note & left. I had to stay with a friend, thank god, & checked into a Doubletree that next day, which was Saturday, February 3rd. Saturday morning, I get several notifications of Red Roof Inn trying to charge my card for $157!!! The amount I paid online days prior & was told by the front desk clerk it was being refunded to me! They tried 12 times to charge me! FOR A ROOM I PAID FOR & NEEDED REFUNDED! That would’ve been $300 + for a disgusting room! I couldn’t believe it! I called of course, & spoke to the sake front desk clerk that was there to check me in on Friday, that night before. He said his manager had the housekeeper investigate & the room was fine, it was clean, had no smell & they seen no bugs!!!!! THANK GOD FOR CELL PHONE TECHNOLOGY! My spirit told me to record my room! So of course I responded with the same exact thing I said when I checked in! He said “well you will get your refund ma’am, does your card end in 4242?” I said yes, can you believe he tried to charge my card while on the phone with me! My phone got a notification a $157 transaction from Red Roof Inn got declined due to my card being locked! I couldn’t believe it! At this point all my patience was lost. I demanded my refund & asked why was he trying to charge me an again this time! What the hell is going on. He said his manager will be in contact. I said no. I’m calling my bank! Read morePLEASE READ: THIS WILL HELP YOU!!! Roaches & more roaches. This is my honest review and I only wish I took pictures but I was in town for a funeral so that took precedence on this weekend. This was the WORST hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my entire life and that’s putting it mildly. I have NEVER seen so many roaches in a hotel room in my life. EVER. I was originally in room 225. When I opened the door to the room in the morning the roaches 2 of them to be exact fell from the top of the door when it opened. These are not the outside roaches like we have in the south. These were the brown roaches you see when someone’s house is dirty. They ran to a hole in the floor by the door. There was another one by the bathroom. I hit it twice and it only pretended dead lol. Darn thing later got up and ran. I’m telling you the most resilient roaches in the world. 😩🥴🤦🏽♀️🙏🏽
Many of The sockets in the room didn’t work. The rooms are older and NOT updated at all. The room had a weird smell. And I had to stay perfume to make it more tolerable. And the beds were only mildly comfortable. The toilet is oddly close to the door so it makes the bathroom really tight. I told them about the roaches and asked them to change my room. At first they had the nerve to deny ever getting complaints about roaches which I kindly referred to their other reviews about roaches (that I read after the fact unfortunately.) 😞 and they quickly changed their tune.
The second room was a tiny bit better. I didn’t see any roaches in room 117 but the room had no microwave, no iron or ironing board (had to request one), the sink clogged and the water took forever to go down, and the shower has a TON of rust inside. To the point I took a shower by putting the floor towel inside the shower to stand on.
I’m telling you I was BEYOND shocked and under-whelmed by this hotel. And the fact that this hotel is able to serve the public and not shutdown or received sanitary violations. The no refund policy should have been a dead giveaway but I’ve never stayed at a red roof inn. Maybe the others are good but I won’t stay at another one. I only stayed here bc it was close to the funeral location and the price was affordable. But honestly if I could’ve gotten a refund I would’ve ran for the hills the first night. 🏃🏾♀️ And I almost said forget about the money and did it anyway but they switched my room.
For anyone considering this hotel. Please PLEASE. Consider one with better reviews and or provides refunds. I don’t know that you’ll have the same experience as me but you are likely to. I walked around my room with my shoes on the entire weekend. It just feels dirty in the rooms I was in. Spray them with Lysol. Whoever reads this God bless you on your stay and travels! My friend who has did it before and has bought me rooms out of his pocket got banned from the property and threatened with the police if he ever showed back up on the property. Anyways my friend bought me a room this time with his points and because the Red Roof Inn had a beef with him they kicked me out. The situation that happened with him was a few weeks back somebody through a beer bottle at his vehicle and busted out his window. His vehicle was parked in a area that didn't have any cameras. Anyways my friend gives this particular Red Roof Inn over $6000 worth of business a year because he stays there. Anyways the Red Roof Inn owner refused to accept responsibility since the damage happened on their property and the Inn also banned him from the property. I know sometimes people get on here and over exaggerate or tell stories but this is no lie. My friend never did anything wrong by berating them or anything. The owner and my friend just had a disagreement and the owner felt it was necessary to blow the whole situation out of proportion and ban him from the property. My friend started coming back there after the window incident a few days ago not thinking anything of it and the owner came to his room and started shouting at him telling him to never come back that he didn't need his business and that if he ever entered the property again he would have the police escort him off. Me personally I would of probably said a lot more that day but my friend was professional about it and went on ahead and checked out and left the property. Anyways today because the owner has a beef with him he took it out on me and threatened me also when I don't really stay there a lot. I do give them business every now and then when I need a room for the night. I usually like their rooms because they have DirectTv and they are usually decent rooms. I have also grown to know some of the workers there. The owner has such a attitude problem there he berates his workers that are not of Indian decent and treats them like garbage. I never thought about it because I understand he is running a business and he never really bothered me but I have heard the employees complain a lot on him. And you don't have to listen to me you can go ask the workers themselves.
