I travel often and at times I do stay at lower budget motels. I stayed at the Vagabond Inn 150 Alamitos Long Beach, Ca 5/1/2020 to 5/2/2020 and this is the worst hotel I have ever been at. The room was not clean at all. I did not catch it at first, because I dropped my luggage and headed out. When I returned to discover, dirty bedspreads, and hair everywhere on beds, floor and in bathroom sink and tub, (Please see pics). The air conditioner also did not push cold ait and the pillows stunk. I called up to the front office and explained what I had found and that I would like to check out early the next day and expect a refund. I had booked thru Expedia, so I called them also and they explained I needed to speak with the manager of hotel. They placed a courtesy call and was advised, I needed to wait until the next day to speak with the manager (Habib). The next day I went into the office around 2pm and spoke withe Leticia. This woman made everything worse. Now, let me add my father had passed away earlier that week, which is why I had booked the room to prepare for funeral. i didn't need any extra bullshhhh. I made sure I was professional, did not cuss or raise my voice. Leticia had a negative energy and she seemed to take it personal that I was requesting a refund. At that point, I did not ask for a full day, because I understood it was 2pm. I asked for a courtesy discount. I would have been ok with $20 or $30 bucks. After all, I used my own sheets and pillows that I always have just in case. And I used my own sanitizer and cleaned the room as best I could. I felt a discount would be fair. We are in a Covid19 Pandemic, how can this place leave these rooms dirty???!! Also, one of the housekeepers was in the lobby and her and Leticia both spoke Spanish and assumed I did not understand, but I did. They basically said that I shouldn't be worried, the room was clean and that I was being paranoid. i then asked Leticia, was she the manager and I requested to speak to Habib. Her reply was that she was the manager at that time and the best she could do was offer me another room, but I better tell her at that moment. She offered to let me see it, so I followed her down the 1st floor hall and she opened a door and explained it was a non smoking room and the window did not face the parking lot that my car was parked in. I was actually on my way out to meet my family and didn't have time for the inconvenience of moving my things to another room and having to clean the entire room again. I declined and Leticia said ok, and said "oh well" walked back down the hallway with an ugly attitude and slammed the office door as hard as she could. Maybe she is a partial owner of this place and took it personal?? She had no reason to be such a bitch and a customer should never be treated this way. I chose to remain calm and considerate. But, I can have an ugly attitude also and had I, it would have been a huge problem. She basically told me to go F myself with her body language and attitude. Shall I add that the hallway lights are extremely dim and this place smells like old sex and death. The price was almost $80 a night. Way way to high priced for this dump. The only thing I didn't see was crackheads. I tried to be understanding that maybe somehow under the dark lighting the cleaning ladies just had a bad day, but I looked under the beds, just to see dust and an old sock. The ceilings had cobwebs hanging down over beds and I had to sleep in a weird position to avoid any of that falling on me. Lastly, The ceilings had cobwebs hanging down over both beds and I had to sleep in a weird position to avoid any of that falling on me. The ice machine disbursed ice and ants. And on my birthday weekend when I had to make plans to bury my Father I simply did not have the energy to argue or try to find another hotel. This Vagabond should be closed down and Leticia should be fired!!! Please see pictures.

Avoid at all costs- this hotel is a mess and is not safe. They may be in violation of local codes and laws as well. I needed a hotel last minute and did not read reviews... terrible experience, working on refund now. Had to just pack up and leave at 3:30am it was so bad- first time I've ever left a hotel without even staying the night and I've stayed in hundreds of hotels throughout 13 countries and almost 50 states in my lifetime. Story: check in was fine, guy was nice enough. I got to hotel room (207) and immediately smelled mold, saw visible water damage, and saw how unclean the room was (sheets were dirty, carpet had not been vacuumed). There was a plastic bag taped over the smoke detector. That was it for me. I went to front desk and requested another room- he gave me room 310 with no problems. I got to room 310 and it, too was disgusting. Visibly unclean, some past cleaned mold damage present, insect damage present, etc. Minutes later, a fight broke out in a room down the hall about 10 doors down from me- one guy left and was bleeding everywhere as he went down the hall. Broken nose from the looks of it. I also saw one of the guys vomiting everywhere, so alcohol (and whatever else) was also a factor. I did not want to get involved but I was ready to intervene as I first thought it was a domestic violence incident with a woman involved. The little old guy from the front desk walked by and said "I called the police but it usually takes a really long time for them to get here". Cops never showed up- but I think they may have just stayed in the parking lot to talk with the bloody guy that left. Awful, just awful. I was exhausted at this point, so i just fell asleep (in my clothes)... I woke up a couple hours later very itchy and with a stuffed up/bloody nose due to dirty filter in the AC unit. At this point I decided to take a closer look at my accommodations: Sheets had bloodstains and hair on them (not mine!), and I think I found a bedbug. I inspected the mattress and sheets and pillows thoroughly and did not find any more bedbugs, so I think I was just getting bit by dust mites really bad. Very unclean situation and I was horrified. AC unit was very dirty upon closer inspection and I had to open the window for some fresh air. Curtains had stains and holes in them- as well as what looked like a burn. I'm pretty sure I found drug paraphernalia between the bed and nightstand as well (pictured) and at that point I got my stuff together and left. Within 5 minutes I was arguing with the guy at the front desk over a refund and calling an uber to get out of there. I will call travelocity and possibly my bank to get a refund. What a nightmare. Avoid at all costs.

I would give zero stars if I could. Here are the facts: 7/30 I called the hotel, spoke with the General Manager and ensured that he had a handicap accessible room, on the first floor, with a roll in shower. The GM confirmed they did so I booked the room for my Father’s upcoming stay. 8/4 I called to double-verify the reservation and the night employee tells me that the handicap-accessible room is booked, has been, and will be by the same person. He adv me that my room is a standard room and that I’d have to call to talk with the GM the next morning. 8/5 I drive to the hotel, am told by the GM that someone has been in the handicap accessible room for weeks and that it’s been booked through 8/18 since 7/15. He further advises me that the shower is not actually roll-in, and offers a standard room. 8/5 I cancel my reservation and now have to find a handicap-accessible room for my Father for the next week. Thanks a lot, Vegabond!

I recently stayed at this hotel , we weren’t looking for a 5 star hotel/motel we just wanted something clean and somewhere to have a good sleep, we checked in at 2 after booking and paying for 4 nights accommodatio, which looked half decent on the website. We entered into our room and I’ve never seen anything like this it was so disgusting the smell was horrific, but we thought we can deal with it we will just spray some air freshener around the room and it will be fine, then it was time for bed well ... we lasted 10 minutes in the bed all we did was scratch our body’s from bedbugs ,we were both so tired so we stripped the bed down, We slept with our clothes on ,I was lying there looking up at the roof which had well I really don’t know but it did look like blood on the roof and they have painted over it ,there was lettuce down on the floor next to my bed there was cockroaches in the bathroom, the towels were a yellow colour obviously they are meant to be white ! We both had showers and just drip dried to scared of what we would catch off the towels we had showers with flip flops on cause the shower/bath was stained and did not look clean !there was no fridge in the room my husband is on medication which needs to be stored in a refrigerator oh you can get a fridge but there’s a hire fee and that ,no hair dryer the tv was a decent size but the remote barley worked ,clock radio next to the bed was locked down and didn’t even reach the power out let ! The carpet had sticky stuff on it so we didn’t dare take of shoes off ! As I said we weren’t looking for a 5 star hotel we just wanted a clean room ,the location was great during the day but I wouldn’t go out after dark ! It was such a disappointment because it was the end of a 3 week holiday and thought we would end it with a nice relaxing time sitting around the pool but I wouldn’t dare use the pool ,after sitting in the room deciding what to do we both decided to cut our holiday short and rang the airline and came home the next day ! Please read this and don’t stay here bad things go in in that hotel ! Your probably asking yourself why didn’t we read the reviews right? Well we were on a cruise and only had about 5 minutes to book somewhere to stay the reception was not the best onboard the ship , but as I said the pictures looked good ,clean refrigerator! But that obviously was not the case ! I honestly do not understand how the mis place is allowed to keep running, now I’ve read all the reviews and I’m not the only one who has been in the same situation! I’ve stayed at 100s of hotels/motels all around the world and this has been the worst I’ve ever seen ! Do not do it stay away from this place ! On the brighter side it was close to the beach it was in walking distance! Nice Mexican eatery across...
