This was my third total time treating myself to a hair cut and drastic color change. The first time was an amazing experience with Eddie a few years ago that left me feeling like I found my new go-to hairdresser/specialist.
I waited 3 years of growing out my previous cover up from platinum blonde hair so I can get my Bob and have my virgin dark hair turned as blonde as before - or to at least get as close as possible (the first time I bleached my own hair and walked in with it pre-lightened by myself for the Eddie to add the finishing touches which were- chefâs kiss.
The first person I was scheduled with consulted with me, her name begins with an F. Farima? Either way I was told, despite having virgin uncolored hair, that I could not achieve that lightness (I showed several goal pictures including my end goal) in one day, which I accepted after I was told by a specialist whom I trusted that it would be best to âlighten it maybe two shades then come back for the restâ. Okay, I trusted the process and after 5 hours, walked out with a color that was brighter light brown nor anything resembling blonde. Almost red/dark mustard! I didnât cry, even when I paid the bill, but I knew when I can back I would request a KNOWLEDGEABLE SKILLED person that knew how to change and work with blonde hair.
I just want to say that I no longer live in Miami, so after making todayâs appointment for my second job in my journey to blonde, I worked with Luis.
LUIS was not only charismatic and knowledgeable about color and the process, the anxiety melted away when he explained and SHOWED me how he works. He also let me know (which Iâve known from watching Brad Mondo for hours) that VIRGIN HAIR NO MATTER THE DARKNESS CAN ACHIEVE A BEAUTIFUL BLONDE WITHOUT THE ORANGE OR YELLOW EFFECT!! He cut a beautiful Bob and the all over highlights were the most beautifully executed Iâve ever seen.
When searching for a long term hairdresser, color specialist-my advice after this experience- SPEAK UP! If youâre not completely satisfied or unsure .
There wonât always be a Specialist professional like LUIS available to color correct. Thank you McAllister Spa and Luis! From my heart!

If it wasnât better today-that wouldâve ended my relationship with McAllister đ but I loved the spa so much, so I gave it...
Read moreI booked a mani pedi by calling. They never asked what kind of mani-pedi type, but figured the nail tech would ask when I got there. Online, it was priced at $40 for an express mani pedi. When I arrived, I was waiting for 25 minutes without being acknowledged in their waiting room. I was patiently waiting, but this was my first red flag of unprofessionalism.
The nail tech did my manicure first. She was very meticulous about the prep work that went into it, and she took almost 45 minutes, just prepping my nails. I thought she did a very thorough job, however, I wish more time had been spent on the polish job because it has been five days since my mani-pedi, and my french tips are already chipping.
During my pedicure, she clipped part of the side of my big toe, and I was bleeding for about 20 minutes. She sprayed alcohol into it, which made the bleeding even worse and kept on going. She apologized profusely, and I didnât think it was that big of a deal until I got home and my toe started throbbing. I will likely have to seek medical help because the cut. It is now becoming infected, itâs a hard place to cover up and keep from getting infected.
At the end of it all, I was unsure what the price was going to be, because I knew I had stayed at the spa for around two hours. The lady rang me up for $95, and I wasnât even sure how she got that number. When I asked her the itemized amount for the manicure and the pedicure, she couldnât even tell me. She said let me call my manager and the manager dealt with it. Trying to exhibit higher levels of professionalism, the manager said he understood my point of view, but was giving me false numbers. He said he would offer me $20 off, but the price ended up being the same $95 until I corrected him again. He tried to upcharge me multiple times, by telling me that I got an A-tier mani-pedi rather than an express mani-pedi. I can agree that I received a higher tier mani-pedi instead of an express because of the amount of prep time she spent on the manicure. But, I did not agree with the premium price that I ended up paying, especially considering the large cut on my toe and lack of professionalism.
Bottom line, I wonât be coming back here ever. Iâm not sure how their other services are, but the mani-pedis and professionalism is...
Read moreAfter an extensive search, I booked an appointment with McAllister for my best friendâs Bacherlotette weekend. I chose it as they had many services and wanted something a bit more special.
To schedule, I did everything through email and the process was easy. They were responsive, helpful and patient with my back and forth. We scheduled manicures/pedicures, blow outs and a facial for the bride.
The spa was very charming but that changed when we went for our mani/pedi. I didnât expect an extragavent space but I was shocked to see the condition of the furniture. The chairs were literally shredded with foam sticking out and not the comfort youâd expect. For such a charming salon in Miami Beach, I could not believe they were not embarrassed by this. I felt embarassed when they had our bride sit down for a pedicure and clumps of foam were sticking out. The area where you wash your hands was messy and employee cell phones were out and about. Also, a lot of side conversations went on.
As far as the services received, 3 out of 4 of us were happy and had friendly staff members. Also, we arrived a bit late (Miami traffic!). They were accommodating and didnât make us feel bad about it.
In summary, I wanted to love this place. It was obvious they have loyal customers as it was busy. I would go here to get my hair done but wouldnât come back for a spa day...
