This hotel really was just okay. Before I review the hotel, it must be stated that the reception, bag porters and maids are very lovely and are the only good quality of this hotel. Whilst the interior design of the hotel as far as the rooms go, in regards to the bed and the wall pictures etc, this is quite a modern hotel compared to the other hotels on south beach. This hotel is however not worth the money at all. The rooms are dirty, there were used ear buds down the sides of the sink, chewing gum on the rug with other nasty things stuck to it over time, hairs that weren’t ours on the wood floor, stains up the insides of the curtains. To further this, the hotel has no attention to detail, the paint lines on the seat in the shower I can only imagine we’re done by a blind individual or an infant child, the seat is painted black and there is black paint splashed up the white marble tiles and left to drip down the wall. The corridors leading to the rooms are underwhelming and hostel-like with big scratches and dents all along the walls and skirting boards. Whilst the sun beds and cabanas are very nice by the pool, again the pool area lacks attention to detail with messy tile grout and large amounts of sand in the pool. On some days the hotel decides to randomly shut the pool bar, so on these days, if you want food or drink round the pool you have to get up go all the way down to ground floor, walk out of the hotel and into the cafe next door, buy take away cocktails in to-go coffee cups and to-go food in plastic packaging and carry them all the way back up to the pool, and then dispose of all of the packaging when done - a faff. For a hotel that charges the prices they do, this is not acceptable service, especially when there is a member of staff assigned to sit and stare at the towels all day, doing nothing else. In addition, when we arrived at the hotel, ourselves and our (local) Uber driver were confused where to enter the hotel and we all questioned whether the hotel was even open. The entrance can only be likened to a fire exist in appearance, with little signage or anything else attractive you would expect at the arrival of quite an expensive hotel. The check in desk is way at the back of the building with no signage and dimly lit and to be honest quite grotty. This hotel does not give you any good first impressions on arrival, which is quite frankly needed to take the edge of the state of the rooms. I will recommend, if you are considering to stay here, don’t, instead stay at East Miami Hotel in downtown, it is only a 10 minute Uber from this location, is half the price and is a beautiful 5 star, Dubai standard hotel. We severely regretted staying here and not at East, they have a great restaurant on the rooftop that serves cocktails and Asian food, it is some of the best food I have had around the world, we discovered this hotel when visiting the restaurant and then checked the prices against the Victor, and nearly cried. We have paid half the price of the victor to stay in a 5 star faultless hotel in Dubai on Jumeriah beach which was spotless with 0 complaints, so it really hurt us to arrive at this hovel. You will also not be missing much at south beach, the entire costal road is stuck in Miami’s hay day 60 years ago and nothing has been updated since. It is tacky, the restaurant staff along the coast are dressed like hooters waitresses and the food is really not good quality and over priced, it feels like you got off the plane in Benidorm, not Miami. Please please stay in downtown, don’t make...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but I was so torn about its pluses and minuses, I thought I should go ahead and write a review to help others understand what they are getting for their money.
As you first walk in and are shown your room, the entire process is really wonderful and very pleasant. The design of the Hotel, the wonderful Pool area, and charming décor was really special..
We had a Deluxe King Suite with balcony and Direct Ocean View. Great room and location.. However, as the hours wore on you really start to notice how worn and rough things look. Every single piece of furniture, door track and wall, had scuffs, dents and chips. And was just plain dirty..
The reason I booked this particular "Upgraded"room, other than the view, was the really impressive looking Infiniti Edge Jacuzzi Tub surrounded by the marble walls and panoramic views. But alas, The Jacuzzi simply did not work, so after a nice swim in the ocean I was already to come back to a beautiful Jacuzzi...and it was broken...we decided to tell them about it as we went out to Dinner.
Upon our return, the room had been freshened up and everything "looked" great. But, the next morning we tried the long process of filling up the tub again.,. about 45 minutes to an hour or so...and again the Jacuzzi Tub did not function at all, which was just really disappointing.
To their credit, when I brought this up at checkout, they did refund my "upgrade fee"( of $75.00) that I originally incurred at Check in, to get this room...
At Breakfast the next morning in the Hotels Outdoor Restaurant area... again, every single marble table top is chipped on every corner. As if someone had literally been rolling them, on their ends, up and down the street for several days... I am genuinely not exaggerating. The food itself was "ok", but they were small potions and overpriced for the strip apparently.. BUT, our waiter was great:)
However, The fabric for the chairs in the dining area was stained and worn, and just pretty much dirty everywhere you look. The menus were sticky and dirty as well. I am really not a clean freak at all, so if I noticed it...it must be obvious.. Even the hedges were way overgrown, with stray shoots sticking out all over the place, and in need of just the most basic Cutting & Maintenance.
I have to say, the design and potential of this place is really special and quite charming. The staff was always very pleasant and accommodating. It is just poorly maintained and very worn.. And, there were many fees at checkout, even after my refund on the upgrade, that still confuse me to this day. My car had two small gouges/dents on the front bumper as well, and with a look of innocence and "eyes to the sky" when I even glanced at the Valet...I just let it go unmentioned, I left feeling "defeated". Life is too short to sweat the smaller things, I choose my battles selectively these days
In summary, I just loved this place when I first walked in, but after a series of small incidents and disappointments, and several noticeable areas of wear and tear, that could have likely been remedied with more attention to detail and care for their property, I just cant bring myself to give a 4 Star review.
But I am hopeful one day the management and maintenance of this property will improve, and this would bring me up to a 4 star...
Read moreThis hotel is in a great location, but there are much better options for the money. The hotel will add a lot of fees when you check out beyond anything published at Kayak, Travelocity, etc.. When you go to check out they will add fees for the pool, towels, sauna, wifi.. etc. no matter what you have used. I was told the first morning I had "complimentary" breakfast that came with the room. Upon checking out, I was charged for it!
The WIFI is absolutely horrible. I had a ton of work to do while I was there and unable to use the internet. I called the front desk and they blamed the internet company. I told them that the problem was my wifi location has barely 1 bar and would get connectivity errors on all my devices. They continued to blame the internet company and said they were trying to fix it.
THE INTERNET SERVICE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WIFI QUALITY! The local network structure is independent of internet service. Even if the internet is completely off, you will still see the number of WIFI bars strength as normal. These mentally challenged individuals could not understand this. I tried talking to several managers and they just could not understand this very basic information.
For three days I had no internet service in my room. I could walk around and find other locations that worked fine. Still, when I checked out I was charged a "WIFI" service fee! What a joke. These people are incapable of understanding anything and really don't care about service. I am sure there are other rooms with poor quality based on my testing. If I was an owner/operator, I would make sure every room has suitable wifi. Basically, anyone that gets shoved into these inferior rooms will never want to go back based on the WIFI quality. I don't know how international people visiting S. Beach can deal with poor wifi service given their inability to just use their smart phones data while roaming.
So, now to the rooms! I paid over $400 a night for the upgraded tub room when adding the massive service fees so popular at South Beach. The bathroom is absolutely horrible. It's a thin closet sliding door that resembles something you expect in a Japanese environment. They are extremely thin. In addition, the gap between the closet door and the frame of the bathroom opening is about 1.5-2". Another words, your bedroom is in the bathroom! You can hear everything. There is no privacy.
The water closet (toilet) has a thin glass door that resembles a public restroom. There is no sound quality whatsoever. You can hear the slightest sound in bed coming from the toilet! Remember, this is a boutique hotel on South Beach, so the rooms are tiny. It really felt my bed was in the bathroom.
There was tons of nasty mold on the ceiling of the bathroom too. I mean massive! I will post pictures on Travelocity soon.
The service is absolutely rude at the front desk if you even nicely complain about internet or anything. I hated my stay. It was easily the worst hotel experience I ever had. A Holiday Inn would even score 5 stars over this.
I would never stay here again. Please look elsewhere unless you like staying in bathrooms. You can find much better places for less than half the costs. I stayed at a Marriot Resort the last two nights at...
