This place is absolutely disgusting. First of all, it’s filthy! From the reception area to the dorm rooms and all of the bathrooms that I’ve used. The place is a dump. The only good thing is the location but there are also other hostels in the same area so if you need a somewhat clean environment check those out before booking here. Secondly, my friend and I shared a mixed dorm room with this incredibly rude French guy who apparently lost his passport and money while out getting trashed. We arrived late at night to the hostel to check in and this guy was at the reception desk on the phone slurring his words and being really nasty and aggressive with the receptionist as well as the agent whom he was on the phone with. We waited about 20minutes just to check in because the guy would not allow the receptionist to offer us a room (while he was on the phone he kept interrupting every time we spoke with the receptionist). After we finally were able to secure a room and sleep for a few hours we found out the next morning that the loud, rude French guy was starting in our room! We woke up the next morning and placed 2 phone calls, with his phone on speaker and volume set all the way up and continued his yelling rant from the previous night about his missing wallet and passport waking everyone in the up. We informed the two 2 receptionists on duty and the male receptionist came into the room and the French guy scolded him and started screaming again that he was going to call the cops if we didn’t leave him alone. We ended up checking out early and explained everything that happened the other receptionist that remained at the front desk but in the end neither of the hostel workers did anything to the guy that was being disruptive. DO NOT STAY HERE if you have an...
Read moreI've been to Miami 12 times, and every time I've stayed here. And every time has been been an absolute blast.
Staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms and the hostel are kept very clean by an army of cleaners, you get free Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, keg parties, and you get to attend some of the best nightclubs in South Beach for a 1/10 of the price.
I've noticed some of the bad reviews on here, and I'd just like to say that the majority of them are completely untrue! I'll address some of the points in the negative reviews:
"We stayed in a 8 bed room with only one bathroom." - Most of the rooms are 6 bed dorms, only a couple are 8 bed dorms, and one bathroom between 6 is more than enough, asking for two bathrooms in a room is a bit silly. Also there is a bathroom in the Lobby if you're busting.
"needed an international passport." - This is standard at a lot of hostels/hotels. It's a form of Identification. Imagine the problems if you didn't need a passport to stay. I'd dread to think.
"The building is hot, filled with smoke and other gross smells" - Smoking is banned everywhere apart from the porch, and it's in Miami of course it's hot! The rooms, lobby and games room/dining area are all AC'd, and there has never been any "gross smells", this seems totally made up.
As for people complaining about the food portion sizes - IT'S FREE! Yes you only get one plate, and yes you have to queue, but you what other hostel in South Beach offers free Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner?
I'd like to state that I do not work for the hostel, I'm just a guest that has enjoyed many many fantastic weeks here, and I've been going for the past 6/7 years. The location, the parties, the staff, the free food, the clean and tidy rooms, it simply...
Read moreI booked a stay at here about 2 weeks in advanced. The next day I decided to cancel it and followed every step of the cancellation process. They failed to respond to my requests, and didn’t answer the phone the many times I called them on many different occasions. No answer no call back. I was convinced that I had simply just been scammed and it didn’t even exist. I had to get a booking company involved only then did they reply to me. Of course they refused to give me my money back. I formulated all the necessary evidence and presented it to them of how they failed to adhere to their policy and had breached their terms and conditions agreed upon when booked. They then gave me a bogus documentation of my charges that didn’t even match up to what they charged me, they failed to state why they aren’t giving me my money back just simply stated they aren’t. Whether this place is real or not, sadly it’s a huge pain to me but I had to file a scam report to the Florida state department and am in the middle of a small claims law suit with them. I know it won’t even add up to the 200+ they owe me but I live by a strict policy of don’t let anyone rip you off, don’t bend, and don’t fold. I am a small business owner who can afford to lose a couple hundred and love hostels, but it’s disrespect I refuse to let another business subject me to. If this place is a real (not convinced it is) they have terrible business strategies and as a fellow businessman, I refuse to let other adventuring human beings go without the knowledge of how they...
