I got the Tres Leches French Toast here, and I think it might be the best French Toast I've ever had
This comes with 3 large French toast sticks, along with a serving of tres leches custard. The only slight negative I have is that I thought there could've been more custard. It was mainly off to the side rather than covering all the sticks. Also, it had a little bit of that tres leches flavor, but not as much as I would've liked
Everything else about this, though, was incredible The inside of the French toast was like heaven. It was immensely soft & fluffy, had a deep egg flavor, and was rich beyond belief. This contrasted amazingly with the deep-fried golden brown outside that retained a layer of crunchiness. I've never seen French toast sticks strike this balance as well as these did. The added maple syrup wasn't even necessary, so I only poured about a quarter in, but that also added tremendously to the flavor as well. If that wasn't enough, there was a chocolate-y, cinammon-y undertone to the dish, and you could even taste the rum present inside the filling, which is not something I was expecting at all. This was really filling as well
For the price, combined with a drink it ended up being around $40, but I think the French toast was definitely worth it. It's truly a one of a kind thing I'm not sure you'll get anywhere else
Overall, a fantastic brunch experience that ranks as one of the best I've...
Read moreLike a diner on Ocean Drive…
The venue is comfortable, airy, and spacious, all of which is agreeably welcomed considering the place is right at Ocean Drive, where space is a luxury.
We were there for breakfast and neither the variety of the dishes nor the food itself disappointed. I wish we could have tried more food, but the portions were considerable. We ended up having the French toast (vast for two and probably could do with a bit less sugar), and the pancakes (perfect in size, taste, and fluffiness); coffee was great!!!
The service is friendly and expedite, probably a bit more casual than desired (think more of a diner than a restaurant), but for breakfast you can turn a blind eye and still enjoy your meal.
Finally, although we were there on a Monday morning and the place felt deserted, I heard reservations are a must on weekends, so be mindful of that.
Overall, Café Americano is probably one of the best breakfast options on Ocean Drive: it is unpretentious, comfortable, has a nice view (though not the ocean), and although a 20% service surcharge is added to your check (as probably everywhere in touristy Miami nowadays), it is still...
Read moreI’ve visited several Cafe Americano locations and have generally had positive experiences, so I was looking forward to dining at the Ocean Drive branch. The service here was exceptional, especially due to our server, Candela, who did an amazing job. Her attentiveness and professionalism significantly enhanced our dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant also lived up to the high standards I’ve come to expect from Cafe Americano.
However, I was disappointed with the food during my recent visit. I ordered the buffalo wings, a dish I’ve enjoyed at other locations, but this time they were a letdown. The wings were dry and overcooked, to the point of being burnt, as evident in the attached picture. This was surprising and not in line with the quality I’ve experienced at other Cafe Americano restaurants.
While I appreciate the excellent service provided by Candela and the pleasant atmosphere, the food quality, particularly the buffalo wings, was underwhelming. Based on this experience, I’m hesitant to recommend this specific location, especially for those who are familiar with the higher standards of other Cafe Americano...
