Let me start with this…location is beautiful!!

Now let me get to the issues! First rom, night 1 was on the 7th floor. Room 703 to be exact. We got in the room and noticed the bedroom windows being all full of condensation. We didn’t fret about it. It was cold outside. Went to go to bed, took off our shoes, walked across the carpet on the window side of the bed and got our feet soaked! Why? Because all the water was coming off of the windows and got the carpet soaked. Hence the musty smell. Called the front desk. Lady came up and checked the floor for herself and said that it was definitely wet! They offered to move us. It was late, we were tired from driving 7-hours and were in our pj’s. So we said that we would move in the morning. Got up in the morning, walked out into the kitchen area, tile floor, and walked right through water! Yuppers. Same thing but from the living area windows this time! Called the front desk, told them we were ready to move rooms now. They said, “Why?” I explained everything again to a new person. Said, the last shift was supposed to tell you this. Lady said, they didn’t! And argued with me about moving rooms! Went downstairs and was greeted by a hat I assume is security and the front desk lady. Was told that this is the condition of every room! I told them that this was unacceptable and I needed a new room. They offered to “shop vac” my floor but it was going to get wet again! I said “No!” I want to move rooms. They found me a room on the 5th floor now, #504. Years, some condensation but the carpet wasn’t wet! They told me that as soon as I got in there the same thing would happen again. I spent the next two nights in that room and the sill was soaked, but the carpet remained dry. And my kitchen area didn’t flood! I was informed that these windows aren’t double sealed or whatever so this is for every room!

Next issue, when you leave your house and PAY for a hotel, do you expect to be doing the cleaning? Yeah, I don’t!! Once you check in, you get handed a paper that states that you have to take out the garbage, run the dishwasher and take your dirty linens out of the room. These go into shoots down the hall from you! If I wanted to clean, I would have stayed home! Also if you don’t do that or if your room is excessively dirty (unkept) then you will get charged an additional $100.00! Ouch!! So, I went on vacation, that I paid for…and I still had to clean! Might as well have stayed home to do housework!!

Thirdly, parking is horrible!! They have a few parking spaces, not many at the hotel, but these are for “compact” cars! No, it doesn’t say that, but after pulling in my Altima into one, then a second, and finally a third space, you can open the doors, but either the driver or the passenger can’t get out! The spaces are simply too narrow for a regular car! So you have to park across Ocean Blvd. Not bad but it was windy and very cold!! And, you are parking in a lot eating your paper isn’t posted on the drivers side dash, like it blows when you open your door because of the wind, you will get towed!!

But, the location is beautiful!! Possibly worth the no parking. Possibly worth the having to gather up and take out the used linens and the garbage, just like being at home. But not worth the soaked feet in the bedroom and in the kitchen area!!

But, beautiful...

We are RCI members and exchanged our week for this property. |First of all, staff was friendly, responsive and professional with any issues. But the property is dated. It has an 80s vibe and there were some maintenance issues we dealt with while staying there. One issue required us to move rooms to a lower floor without the nice view. I was told floor 12 and up is renovated. We stayed on the 9th. The view is spectacular but the floor to ceiling window in the main bedroom brings a lot of heat in the morning. Didn’t bother us too much because by the time it gets warm we were up and it has the shades which help. Had to leave doors open to keep rooms cool throughout the night. The two bedroom two bath was ok size wise for our family of 5. The kitchen has a decent amount of appliances for cooking basic meals. I do wish they provided a better sponge with a scrub pad for cleaning the pots and pans. They did bring a Brillo pad when I asked for something better to clean the pots. |We had to move to 2nd floor halfway into our stay. Unfortunately, this room only had one bath. We enjoyed the fresh cup of coffee each morning on the 2nd though. Management was friendly and offered compensation for our trouble. Overall the location is fantastic and staff is friendly. We walked to a lot of great restaurants. My kids loved the racquet court on the 15th! The gym is very basic. The resort should definitely add some free weights. |Future guests should be prepared for the dated property aspect. Also it’s a timeshare so it’s run like one where you are responsible for removing sheets at the end of the stay and a few more checklist items they give you a list at check in. Not a big deal cause we’re used to that being...

Very unprofessional cheap with there pool towels you have to use the same towel for the whole week with only one change out they don't clean the rooms so bring your own cleaners to clean up everything bath, shower, kitchen even clean sheets we found dishes dirty crumbs in the kitchen cabinets hair in the bathroom and paper towels in the coffee machine with used coffee grinds given the wrong room Jackie the manager did her best to resolve the situation and offered to give us an extra day which is greatly appreciated. Also the gentleman at the desk with red long hair has an attitude and he works one job and then the hotel so he's tired and frustrated understandable but you have to have a better customer relationship. He came and cleaned up the bathroom and then said to my wife. Is that up to your standards the fact that I deal with the public I know how to keep my calm and composer any other husband would have punched him the face. The place is decent needs updating. If you plan on staying at the hotel ask for Jackie and deal with her direct and if using a timeshare as we did ask that they look in to the hotel before booking...

We truly enjoyed our stay at Schooner II! Very, very, very clean! Kitchen was great, large, usable space, full size fridge, dishwasher...all the things you actually need. Bathrooms are roomy and upscale. Bedrooms comfortable and spacious. Beautiful views and super easy access to the beach. It's a smaller building with not so many units but I think that is an advantage in its own right. It's not over-whelming, crowded or a party scene...It's families. Staff is awesome! Anything we needed, was taken care of promptly. The only negative is the traffic and street noise during the weekend (which can not be helped by the staff), just part of tourist season at Myrtle Beach. We vacation petty often and I'd say Schooner II it's in the top 3 places we've stayed, that says a lot!

This hotel feels very homey with unique, eye-catching views. We stayed in a 2-bedroom unit and loved our experience. Like many long-standing, proud hotels, it could be modernized, but I'm not sure that's necessary since they offer a distinctive retro style that's uniquely theirs. My family always felt safe and cozy, which we appreciated throughout our stay. The Myrtle Beach area is phenomenal because it allows you to experience so many different activities and historically rich attractions. We hope to return to Schooner II soon.
