On the surface, the facility is new so it's appealing in that aspect. They advertise a Starbucks but fail to mention its not full service. (They don't have ordinary things like sweet cream thats in most drinks) there is a full service Starbucks across the street so it's not a huge deal. But to save time. Just go across the street. The staff at the front desk is currently being extremely nice. We have a specific situation which may be a 1 off, we're on the 3rd floor. Our balcony doesn't have grout on it between the pavers and our floor is also level with the roof of the exterior pool level patio. So all the stuff people drop (food, clothes, cigarettes are all basically landing in our lap and since the situation with the floor and rooftop is so unique we are unable to use the deck because palmetto bugs( big @ss roaches are coming out of the Cracks at night seeking food. So we have to keep the door closed. They offered to move is up to a higher floor. But we have 2 small Kids who are already traumatized by the encounter and a different floor won't change a 5 year olds opinion about bugs and nasty garbage landing on us. The hotel is aware of the situation and has said they will comp a night. We're supposed to stay another 4 nights and have been here for 3 already. So I will update my review with what the hotel did to compensate for an unfortunate and room specific negative stay. * update* they said they were going to be sending someone to spray the room and the outside area. We sat in the room from noon until now at 7pm when I went down and asked why they made us waste a day of our vacation. They also said they won't be refunding or comping any other nights. So we're stuck in a cockroach infested room and nothing is being done about it. I will be contacting The BBB. And also disputing the entire stay on my credit card. I purchased a stay In an healthy environment. And that is not being provided. I am not getting the product I purchased. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE STAY HERE. had they offered something more for not having a suitable facility. It's false advertising. I also have video of the infestation and will forward to corporate.SECOND UPDATE* 2 DAYS LATER THE PROPERTY STILL HAS NOT ADDRESSED THE INSECT ISSUE AND, THEY KNOW WHAT ROOM AND HAVE ALL MY CONTACT INFO. NO EFFORT TO MITIGATE BUGS IN ROOMS. IVE BEEN KILLONG THEM AS I SEE THEM. I WANTED TO BUY BUG SPRAY BUT DONT WANT THE HOTEL TO CHARGE ME FOR DOING ANYTHING IN THE ROOM.....
Read moreI'm usually a big fan of the Marriott chain in general, but this is the fist time I've ever had to leave a negative review following a stay. Location wise, the hotel is great. With the beach immediately accessible from the rear of the hotel and stunning views from the room, it checked off the criteria of what we wanted for our stay. The pool itself was a plus, giving us an additional amenity option when the beach itself proved to be too hot for our kids.
That said, there were too many things that occurred during our stay that made our trip less that enjoyable:
I called the night before check-in, indicating that we would be driving through the night and arriving around 7am, asking if an early check in would be possible. I was assured this would not be an issue. Upon arrival, I was told it wouldn't be until 1pm that a room would be ready. We finally received a room around 1:30. With 2 young kids following a 12 hour drive, and waiting 6 hours upon arrival for our room, this wasn't a great start to the trip.
The staff was mostly friendly, however there were 1 or 2 curt employees during the check in debacle that were clearly annoyed by my asking if any updates were available yet regarding room availability. The attitude wasn't appreciated.
Our room didn't have a working toilet, even after we were assured someone from maintenance had inspected and fixed it while we were out. We had to manually adjust the flushing mechanism with every use.
Fresh towels weren't left after the first night, and shower towels weren't left after the second night (just wash clothes), despite the fact all the shower towels had clearly been used and were in a replacement pile that day.
Slow bar staff. Waited more than 5 minutes to place a food order, when there were only 2 other patrons ordering drinks.
$50 daily fee to rent two beach chairs and an umbrella. This last point is just an FYI for anyone reading, as we weren't aware of that fact when booking.
Overall, I can't say I would recommend staying. Prime proximity to the beach and boardwalk, while great, can be found elsewhere... hopefully in a place that has a working toilet...
Read moreWe had an enjoyable 4 night stay in late April/early May. We were greeted warmly and professionally by Kenyetta at the front desk. She was so kind and helpful throughout our entire stay and was the best front desk staff we've ever encountered! We routinely and carefully inspect hotel rooms for cleanliness before settling in. This property was impeccably clean. The bedding, mattress, balcony and bathroom were all clean and in good condition. The common areas were also kept very clean, even though the hotel was busy and those areas were heavily trafficked. Shout out to the folks who maintain those areas. Not an easy feat, but they kept up with the usage of those areas! Beautiful views from the balcony and there are 2 sturdy chairs and a table there, as well. It is nice to hear the ocean in the room. The 2nd floor outside common area is a nice touch and we used that area often to sit and enjoy the view. We have a few suggestions we think would make the property even better: Remove the carpeting from the rooms and replace with planking or tile. The carpets were clean and in good shape, but other flooring materials can be cleaned more easily. Beds are platform with a mattress. Not much support without a box spring under it. Wasn't horrible, but could be improved. Larger pool/beach towels. They are too small. We understand that the hotel doesn't rent the beach chairs, but perhaps something can be done to improve the uncomfortable chairs we rented on the beach. The people renting them were friendly and kind, but the chairs themselves were awful.
Overall, this property is consistent with other Marriotts - good, solid, well-build property that is extremely clean and kept updated. That's why we look for Marriotts...
