So was VERY nervous to go after so many negative reviews but I loved the menu and it was close to our hotel and I like to give a restaurant around here a chance having been to another restaurant that got rave reviews that I absolutely hated here in MB. So going in on high alert with low expectations we went to dinner around 8:15pm on a Sunday there was a couple at the bar and us. Dead empty so made me nervous, is it still so horrible no one is coming?? But we were immediately greeted by very friendly staff. The kind of staff I adore. Helpful, timely and efficient. Orders the truffle fries, the grilled romaine Caesar salad and the beef tenderloin that came with Gouda Mac and cheese and asparagus. They brought the fries out first to give us something to munch on while we waited for our meals, it was a huge plate of fries. There’s a hint of truffle in there but in general your basic edible fries that I can live without. Now my salad was HUGE fresh well made and so filling. The beef tenderloin was melt in your mouth tender well cooked and the flavors were excellent we hate mushrooms and even ate the mushrooms that were on it that’s how well cooked it all was. Our food came out in a timely manner and then the chef came out to see how we liked our meal. Please NOTE: they have a new chef working there who has been there the last 3 months only and he talked how much he enjoys cooking and how this doesn’t feel like a job to him. Great guy. So if you haven’t been in the last 3 months give this place a try again and to new folks I highly recommend it. This place was fantastic clean, nicely decorated and I look forward to eating there on our next visit. I let the other reviews scare me off initially so wanted to leave my own. They also have a cool drink menu, wine and...
Read more7/12/19 Food was great. However, how do you run a restaurant in what is sometimes called the seafood capital of South Carolina and have no market fish. The truck didn’t come does not fly. At least hit a local fresh seafood market. Come on. Chose the place for a menu to appeal to both land and sea lovers. So no market fish,no pulled chicken and waffles and much to my granddaughters disappointment,no build your own some’mores. She’s 4 and for her the meal was over. A serious drawback from my dish was the scallops were undercooked and still translucent. I was sick in the middle of the night. Although I make it a point not to down my dish in front of my fellow diners, I should have and also informed the waiter as it could have had more severe consequences than my intestinal issues in the middle of the night. However the bedding the scallops were on was unbelievable! Wake up owner and management. You are in what is called the seafood capital of South Carolina and the truck didn’t show up for market fish? What about a local seafood shop. Surely they exist. No chicken in South Carolina for pulled chicken and waffles. Wow I’m a northerner NO WAFFLES IN THE SOUTH. That’s like no pizza or bagels in New York. Should have been great but left feeling disappointed. Our waiter was great and i felt sorry for him to have to give the news of the lack of staples on the menu. No wonder we were only one of two tables in the restaurant. Suggestion: include on your website that you can park in the hotel lot since we rode around and around looking for a spot. All of the above explains why it was no problem when we called to say we would be 15 minutes late. SHAPE UP...
Read moreTHIS PLACE IS WAYYYYY OVERPRICED! My boyfriend and I were extremely disappointed in our meal. For it being a cocktail restaurant too, we at-least were hoping for some good drinks, but those were also very disappointing. My boyfriend’s Jalapeño Margarita was all tequila, which could be good or bad depending on how strong you like your drinks. I had the Lavender Fields cocktail which was just sub par. My boyfriend had the crab cake entree, which ran around $36 for two small crab cakes and five stems of unseasoned asparagus. While the crab cakes may have been worth a large fraction of that price, the size of the side and crab cakes was not very filling for him. I got Strong Waters signature dish, which was a shrimp gnocchi for a price of around $28. I was truly disgusted with the dish as I could tell the pasta sauce was either old or prepared incorrectly as it was curdled and very separated. After eating the six shrimp and 15 gnocchi in the dish, I was left with a full bowl of inedible, beyond greasy sauce. Upon review with our waitress, it took about 20 minutes for the manager and cook (one person) to come to our table and hear our concerns. He along with the waitress had been complaining how it “had been a day”, even though it was completely dead inside the restaurant. The manager did little to address the concerns and didn’t see anything wrong with the dish. As compensation, we were given a measly 10% discount. Although the atmosphere inside the restaurant was welcoming and nice, the food and drinks have little to be desired and I would sincerely...
