In one word: overpriced! In words of financial advice: CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD! I was placed at this hotel for a conference. It was very beautiful and quite fancy. I've never seen the minibar with the weighted time limit threats before. But, fancy and overpriced don't have to go together like they do here.
I saw a sign that said call to ask about getting a mini fridge. I was excited at their efforts to save energy. HAH! Wrong I was. They have a fridge, it's purpose is to charge outrageous prices for sodas and alcohol. If you want a mini fridge, expect to pay a rental fee. Everything you may need extra will come with a price. Oh, and parking is $38 self park and $45 valet. $$$$$
The room I was placed in had 2 full size beds. The mattresses were hard in my opinion. And the bedding was so tucked in I had to get up to pull it out. Not a fan at all of the beds. My view was decent, others complained from my group. Pretty decor and VERY CLEAN! The lamp by the bed was so bright it didn't work as a bed side lamp to me.
Bring your logins for television AND music. For this to be MUSIC CITY, I found it insulting to be asked to pay for the music feature on their television menu. I used their wifi connection to Chromecast feature to play from my Spotify. The cordless phone to call front desk and such has terrible reception. Enjoy the nostalgia but don't walk more than 2 feet from the receiver. The climate control was on the wall and worked exactly as set. That was nice. Soft plush robes in the closet were very comfortable.
The restaurant downstairs was busy and understaffed. But, they knew their hotel was completely booked so there could have been some efforts of preparation or management coverage. Something?!? It was irritating that the food took a while to come out but it's pandemic world where everything in the service industry is tough. I understand that. What's a bummer for patrons is that we have higher prices to pay for less quality or poorer service. Our server was very good, she was definitely in the weeds it seemed and I understand that. She still managed to keep our $20 cocktails refilled. My friend ordered a burger and while all of our meals came out, hers was missing. In my opinion, it's polite to wait for everyone to have their meal before digging in to your own. Usually this means waiting an extra 1-2 minutes. Nope. She told us, please eat after it'd been several minutes. Thank God because it was a full 20-30 minutes if not longer before her meal came out. So long that she had filled up on bites from all of our meals and just boxed it up... Too bad there was no fridge or microwave for it in the room though. Needless to say, our meal was comped.
Check your card because I was charged about $50 on the card I ran for "incidentals." I did not eat their $10 snack nuts or drink their $11 airplane bottles of booze. I called to ask and was directed to a billing department in which I was on hold 20 minutes before I had to hang up as I had not designated that amount of time for the inconvenience of handling this. I will dispute the charge on my credit card Monday if I have not heard from them. I left a voice mail.
The people I interacted with at this hotel were friendly and helpful. The reason for the negative parts of this review are largely due to prices and aspects of the hotel that come from decisions made up the corporate ladder. Decisions made from people who are out of touch with the middle/upper middle class and what we deserve as the hardworking backbone of this country! I have zero faith in improvement as the wealth gaps only grow larger in these times...
Read moreI greatly appreciate that there are Blink EV car chargers in the hotel garage. That was the main reason we booked at the Lowes, because it was listed on some charging sites and TripAdvisor, but there are several caveats about that. The charging isn't policed -- probably because Lowes doesn't want to make people angry, and they may not consider them "Lowes chargers" even though they are in their self parking garage.
My spouse and I stayed two nights. The first night the car was very low and so we paid the idle charges to leave the car on charge all night and move it in the morning -- an over $40 expense on top of the $49/day for in and out parking. A lot of money, but I knew from other cities like DC that expensive parking is something to expect in a major tourist/metro center, so I'm not complaining on this part -- this is just info.
The second night, we had to squeeze into a space to get to charge because of a SUV (that wasn't even electric) and a non-charging electric car that was taking up space treating the charging station as regular parking. These were big vehicles, and our Mach-e isn't tiny, but we squeezed in and I had to climb over the gear wheel and get out on my husband's side, because there is nothing there to make people who shouldn't be at the chargers move. We dutifully went back out to the charger after dinner and moved it to another space to not hog the charger, and try to save later-arriving people from our experience. Charging just a couple of hours to "top off" is not expensive, as you have a lower rate the first couple hours.
Pros: The staff are great. The charging and downtown location is really is a draw. Cons: - Purely luck of the draw on your charging experience. - You must ask for a mini-fridge and microwave to be brought to your room (at least in the lower cost rooms like ours, maybe not in a suite). There is an "honor" snack area and mini-fridge in the room already, which is monitored by sensors. If you remove something to make room for your own item, it will charge your room, so this is why you have to ask for a separate mini-fridge to be brought up. - The staff is great but the Mason's bar/kitchen felt a little understaffed.
Overall: I'd be willing to stay at this hotel and again and hope for better luck of the draw on the charging experience. Also, now that I understand how the fridge system works, I think it would not be an annoyance. The staff are nice and accommodating, and the location...
Read moreOur stay at Lowe's was so welcoming as we arrived in the evening about 5:00 pm Dec 3.
Cody helped us with our stuff in the room, He was very nice and very helpful tip him $15.00 .
We had our dinner and some drinks, We loved the bar area and food. Tip $20.00 to the waitress a very nice lady.
I didn't think our room was well fit enough for my daughter's wheelchair with three of us in that room.
Beds were too small so uncomfortable the plugs were worn out to hook up my phones. Their sodas $ 3.00 per can and candy overrated $ and water was way overpriced $.
He was going to hook me up with a nice room, I expected to have a larger room with the price of $ that we paid. The double bed room is very small.
I went to go check out early in the morning and the older lady that was there at front desks Dec 4 didn't greet me no customer service, she looked very unhappy worker not happy whatsoever. Had a little attitude just to be checked out. No respect do better front desk
I paid $54.00 for parking plus tips to young men. I called valet in advance to get my daughter's handicap van to be brought down 25 minutes prior before departure to the hospital, he couldn't warm it up for me after told him on phone and when we came down he saw us grab the keys and went and got our handicap van without even having it heated up and the temperatures were very cold that morning before 6:00 am
8)I would not recommend anybody staying there again, I will recommend anybody staying at the embassy or somewhere else you get better service bigger rooms and being a member for the Hilton rewards and their valet is not that pricey as well. You park yourself at no charge.
9)I really think Vanderbilt lowes set us up for failure. We are so happy to be able to stay in a very nice area and hotel. Never again will I give them my hard working money to stay there again. We are a military family and gold star family and on top of that we have been going to Vanderbilt hospital for the past 11 years for my daughter's Specialist's.
Vanderbilt Lowe's do better for our guests and our...
