My experience with Buffalo Exchange today was “meh”. I will not be coming back to try to sell any of my clothes in the future.
I initially walked into the cluttered store and walked to the Sell counter. As my first time, I did not know I needed to fill out a form from a QR code to place myself in line. I asked if I could temporarily place my clothes (that were nicely all on hangers) on the unoccupied counter for 10 seconds to scan the QR code since my hands were full. I was told “no” and to move to the crowded chairs on the side. The chair placement is very awkward for anyone trying to walk in the path.
I brought in 10 items on hangers that were appropriate for fall and winter weather (timing is important or at least I thought). The staff member reviewed the items very quickly (too quickly), and to me, it appeared not much thought was put into her review of the items. I did not get an offer on a single item to my surprise. Confusing but whatever, even though 3 items had never been worn; and the others were gently used with absolutely no stains or threading issues. To note, one of my items is a Calvin Klein brown puffy long jacket.
Given my confusion, I then asked…. I understand you do not want this clothing; but can you tell what exactly you are looking for….? The response was only graphic tees and very puffy, long length jackets. These particular items were not what was listed on your website prior to coming, and this seemed to be wayyyyy too particular for a thrift/consignment store. Altogether, it was a huge waste of time.

Read moreI’ve always loved this location & the staff. I’ve come for years & sold hundreds of items. As a vintage seller & collector, I’ve always appreciated the fact that Buffalo takes awesome vintage pieces as well as trending contemporary items. I loved buying vintage from here & better brand-level pieces. Everytime I’ve gone before, they’ve taken 95% of my items (I’d bring in bins full) & it was a quick & friendly experience. This time, not so much. I brought in 3 full bags of both vintage & modern items. There were a couple of ppl ahead of me in line to sell, so I set my bags altogether by my spot in the line and just flipped through the clothing on the racks directly in front of my spot in line, maybe 5 feet, still in clear view of everything. It was my turn & I brought my bags to the buyer. I felt scolded by him saying I needed to stay with my bags and not not go off elsewhere in the store or leave (again, I was right by my bags looking at a rack in plain view). Anyways, I looked through items in the store as he went through my bags. The selection wasnt like it used to be. TONS of Shein & Fashion Nova, Pretty Little Things, etc. Cheap overproduced fast fashion. This new location for the nashville store is also hard to move through compared to the old location. You can barely squeeze through to get around. He went through my items & took 5 things. I was shocked. It felt like Plato’s closet. Super disappointing experience. Being a fashion grad, I’m not sure the newer buyers have been educated/trained properly given the inventory they’re currently holding. Really bummed how downhill...
Read moreREALLY GREAT store to peruse t-shirts with armpit stains because they sell exclusively stained-armpit t-shirts and graphic tees at great prices. To be clear: they excel in the art of sourcing (and managing to decide to stock, then actually stocking) seemingly designer armpit stain style t-shirts, products they source, stock, and make available for purchase, with armpit stains, which I’ve learned are typically made up of bodily fluids that dry over time and attach themselves to the fabric. You can pay for those products at this location. I’d recommend renting a car or buying a plane, bus, or train ticket to shop at one of the other Buffalo Exchange stores in different locations. If you’d rather stay in town, you might have better luck, unfortunately, at P’s Ct for clothes that you can look at and realize you still don’t want. Unfortunately, I said, but I would love to know which curb or gym location they’re able to find these unique t-shirts. Could be an in-house design. Although, I was fortunate enough to finally make eye contact with one of the store’s dedicated employees, who clearly love working there because they’re so dedicated to speaking to each other when customers are waiting in line. But the employee who made eye contact and decided to speak to me mentioned there is another store in town called “American Vintage Nashville Cowboy” or something Nashville-sounding. Not sure why he recommended it, but I found it odd. Really glad they acknowledged my existence though! That was...
