My husband gifted me a full spa day experience and I already want to go back for more! The spa itself is unique, located in a historic home, and gives off very warm, comfortable, and welcoming vibes: natural lighting with warm accents, beautiful hardwoods, and a mild, yet delicious aromatherapy infusion.
The therapists were extremely kind and accommodating, offering drinks and light refreshments, and since the full food service is paused for COVID the manager even offered to run to the cafe next door for my lunch! Speaking of Covid, I appreciated the extra steps to ensure safety. They performed a temperature check upon arrival, wore masks, and I noted the additional wiping/sanitizing as I moved through the building.
I was greeted by Pam who walked me through my treatments for the day then provided me a brief tour of the restrooms and relaxation room for between treatments. They provide baskets for your clothes and personal effects, and the therapists will carry them for you if you have multiple treatments.
I began with 60 minutes in the infrared sauna, then donned a super plush robe and moved to the relaxation room to wait for my massage therapist, Joni. There was another customer finishing up her massage who joined me in the relaxation area as Joni performed a thorough cleaning of the treatment room. When it was my turn, she took the time to speak with me and explain which massage I had chosen (Swedish "essential" massage), and make sure she had a pulse on any problem areas where she needed to focus. We began with deep breaths of lavender oil to relax my mind then she gave me, hands down, the best massage I've ever had. My muscles absolutely melted and I fought the urge to fall asleep just so I didn't miss anything!
After my incredible massage with Joni I spent time in the salt room - so cool! If you've never tried it, I highly recommend. The salt is not overwhelming, but you can tell it's there by the slight taste on your lips. The chairs were comfortable, and Pam brought me a fuzzy blanket to curl up under. It was the perfect in between as I was relaxed from my massage and waited on my final treatments.
I had chosen the Eminence Wrap and the Deluxe facial, so when it was time I was greeted in the salt room by Lori. As she walked me to the esthetician room, she chatted with me about my concerns so she knew which targeted treatments would be the best for me. Once I was scrubbed, masked, and cocooned in my body wrap we decided on a dermaplane to remove old skin cells and promote more of a "glow". I appreciated how she talked me through what she was doing, and what she was using. My face really did have a healthy glow once we were done.
I was there for several hours and completely lost myself in relaxation. I will definitely be going back, frequently! Thank you to Pam, Joni, and Lori for making my day! (And thanks to my...
Read more-Overall this experience was disappointing and not worth the almost $1000 spent. I felt very âbuttered upâ on the phone and coaxed into paying for a half day spa day that was ultimately mediocre at best. -I called to discuss packages for my fiancĂ©âs birthday. Nathan the owner called me back. He was very enthusiastic and though I was not interested in the salt room he stated it was âa mustâ and that we could have lunch in this room. He gushed about a meat charcuterie board, wine/champagne and even stated he would include a birthday card- none of this was presented to us. The moment we arrived Nathan apologized that the meat charcuterie would not be available because of âthe snowââŠthis was a Tuesday and the snow had long been melted. Instead we were given a tray of nuts, cheese and crackers. Champagne was never offered nor was the birthday card and while it wouldnât seem like a big deal to some, Nathan (the owner) was the one who offered it in the first place and therefore it was expected. -But because of this we elected to skip the rest of the time in the salt room which we never wanted to experience in the first place, and charged $80 for the 15-20 minutes we were there waiting for our facial. -I will also say the room to change into robes was extremely small and we both hit our heads on the ceiling. The robes given to us were also tattered and peeling (as shown in the picture). -It was after these first few encounters that we started to feel awkward and uncomfortable. Things were not flowing or going as we expected at all. -The massages were fine however we were told Nathan booked the same masseuse for both of usâŠthat did not make sense as he told me he booked 2 females (as requested) on the phone. But Will and Candace were very pleasant. **Facials with Emery and Ellery are what saved this day. They were so kind and welcoming. We enjoyed this part of the day the best. -I paid for the day and Nathan was nowhere to be seen nor did anyone really seem to care how the day went when we were leaving. I gladly tipped all the staff as they were wonderful. But we will not be coming back due to being extremely misled on the phone by the owner about the experience that was to be had. He definitely built up the potential experience...
Read moreTL;DR: Excellent massage therapist, but not luxury location, started late with no makeup time, and the front desk left me feeling self-conscious instead of relaxed.
I had a mixed experience here. The massage therapist was excellentâskilled, communicative in all the right ways, and the massage itself felt great once it began. Unfortunately, it started about 10 minutes late, and that time was not made up on the backend, so I didnât get the full session I paid for.
The ambience is okay. This spa used to be called Greenhouse Comfort Spa and has since been renamed Greenhouse Luxury Spa. âComfortâ was the better fitâthe space is not luxury. Itâs an old house where you can hear hallway chatter, creaky floors, doors, and helicopters from the nearby Medical Center. None of that ruined the massage, but itâs worth knowing. The prices are reasonable, so thatâs all fine.
The major downside was the check-in process. The front desk person told me Iâd booked incorrectly and needed to pay extra for a prenatal massage which was an awkward and upsetting moment since Iâm not pregnant. I try to give some grace here as Iâm 10 months postpartum, but having an older manâs perception of my body be read as pregnant was hard to shake. This should be preventable with better training and a clear process for handling sensitive situations. A massage is supposed to be a place where you feel safe and relaxed, but instead I began the appointment feeling self-conscious and unsettled.
EDIT TO ADD - after looking at Facebook, it seems the awkward front desk encounter was actually with the owner. Yikes. At least I know you wonât question my review since you were thereâŠ.
Overall, the massage therapist did a great job, but the lost time and front desk interaction left a...
