I found this place after a few locals posted stories on Tiktok and I had to see for myself. Here's my take on this great restaurant.
It is indeed very nostalgic and retro . This is obviously a favorite amongst the locals and it also draws in its own share of tourists hoping to find that perfect story to post on social media , I would politely suggest to be considerate of the staff and other diners privacy. All of the food was very tempting and I had a difficult time deciding what to order. I had the meat and three sides ( amazing ) Get the pot roast ( 5 stars ) The mashed potatoes were smooth creamy and delicious. The mac and cheese was also exactly what I hoped for. I also tried the creamed corn which was fresh and probably not canned . They do have a very good lineup of burgers and offer American Cheese cheddar cheese blue cheese Swiss cheese pepper jack cheese and also pimento cheese. They also have some really good add-ons such as bacon and fried egg , for fresh toppings they have tomato lettuce jalapeno peppers grilled or raw onions mushrooms and The Best coleslaw I've ever had on a burger.
Try a milkshake they were absolutely amazing and I had a hard time deciding between the chocolate hot fudge butterscotch peanut butter coffee Butterfinger and Nutter butter. And for all you Old-Timers out there they also have malted option. I had a classic banana split as a dessert which was executed perfectly with chocolate strawberry vanilla covered with strawberry pineapple and banana whipped cream and cherries. Most of the menu is under $15 which gives incredible value. Also be sure to pick up some pie that is quite famous I'm sure you can get a whole pie for $25 but I think you might have to order that in advance ( especially the lemon meringue pie) Thanks to Linda the pie lady for those Delicious pies. Thank you to all the hard-working staff for making this place what it is. And a big thank you to all the great people that call Nashville home I really enjoyed my time there. I hope to come down again someday from Toronto Ontario. Travelers be sure to put this on your list of must dine...
Read moreI’ve been going to Elliston Soda Shop for 30 years off and on; it is currently on. Since they have moved to the new location everything has settled into place and it is consistently good. The staff is attentive and friendly. The pies have a mile high meringue. My mother demands I take her by there so she can get the country ham and eggs sunny side up—yes, they can actually do that here. I had their omelet three times before I could muster up to move on to the turkey and dressing, which is of course good. Even the creamed corn had a little crunch with the cream; above average. A group of guys sat down and one proclaimed why there should even exist baked pork chops. I later heard him give his approval for the fried pork chop and he seemed to be someone that would know. The best thing about Elliston is that because it is near Baptist/St Thomas hospital and Vandy and of course is on Elliston Place (or what is left of it) and has been around forever, you never know what Nashvillians you will see, for this is one of the best places I think to experience a crowd of mostly hometown folks. It is laid back, good, and the space has all the old Purity signs and the old booth jukeboxes (don’t work). Try to park in the little lot to the side of the restaurant—its free. Otherwise, you have to pay to park on the street or in the pay lot that took the place of the demolished...
Read moreMs. Linda [outstanding and professional manager] and her staff were welcoming, kind, generous, friendly, and very very very nice allowing us to feel comfortable at their restaurant. Ms. Linda had a conversation with my husband about people they both knew from memories of working there for many years she has such a warm and loving heart! Their new space is so beautiful and clean....even the bathroom. The waitress explained the menu to us...which was so hard to choose from because everything looked and sound so delicious. The service was awesome and the food was amazing kudos to the chefs!!! I wish I could remember the name of the hostess who seated us because she provided us with a history of Ellison Place and the young waitress who explained the menu and shared all the tasty highlights which were many great choices. They both were professional and extremely caring about making us feel very welcoming and comfortable the entire time we were there. Please know, they honestly and truly care about their customers from the time you walk in the door until the time you leave. It was a BLESSING to be in one of the best restaurants in Nashville, Tennessee you will always want to eat...enjoy...and relax for breakfast lunch or dinner and please don't pass up their delicious milkshakes and desserts 😋...Thank you everyone and MAY GOD CONTINUE BLESSING YOU ALL AS YOU BLESS...
