A bit of backstory is needed to contextualize this review. I live about 45 minutes outside of Nashville, any my surgery was rescheduled twice because of severe snow, ice, and low temperatures that persisted for a week. Given the unpredictable road conditions, and the fact that I had to arrive at nearby Tri-Star Centennial for surgery no later than 9:30 a.m., I opted to arrive a day ahead and spend the night at the Hyatt House.
This proved to be a good move. First of all, they're close by. Secondly, they have a shuttle that is kind of on call. The driver is in the lobby and he can take you within minutes of you wanting to go. Next, my room was super comfortable and quiet. The contemporary design reminded me of the Aloft Hotel chain rooms, but the Hyatt House room had more places to put things (shelves and other surfaces). The bathroom was really nice, and the step in shower was just perfect. Nice shampoo, conditioner and body wash, by the way. The room had lots of outlets for charging electronics, and the thermostat was near the bed, so if you wanted to get up in the night and adjust the temp, it was easy to do.
I wish that in microwave/fridge area they would give a bottle of water or two, plus some plastic ware. I wanted to eat a good meal since I couldn't eat after midnight so I ordered in food and the restaurant forgot to include utensils. It would be nice if there were some in the rooms so people don't have to go back down or improvise in this situation, especially if you're on the 14th floor as I was (beautiful view from that floor btw).
Another great part of my stay was that they let me leave a bag there when I went to the hospital the next day for my surgery. This way I was able to bring my laptop and get a lot of work done in the hotel the night of my stay. When I left my bag at the hotel as I checked out the following morning, they tagged it and gave me a claim check to retrieve it, which was reassuring. They even let me keep it there longer than planned because originally I was supposed to go home the same day, but my doctor recommended I stay in the hospital overnight. I called the hotel and they were very cool about it. I picked up the bag after being discharged from the hospital and it was in perfect condition.
I definitely would stay in this hotel again, hopefully the next time for a fun visit instead of a medical...
Read moreHad a great experience at the Hyatt House Nashville. We were traveling to Nashville to take a family member to the VA Medical Center. We were promptly greeted by the front desk staff & immediately felt welcomed. Since we arrived quite a bit before "check-in time" we asked if, by chance, the room was available/ready...So we could put our things up in the room & not have it all baking in the hot car while we went to 3 doctors appointments (that we knew would be several hours each) And also needing to change clothes & freshen up to get ready to head over to the VA for the Doc Appts. They were VERY accommodating and without hesitation, told us that would be no problem & had a room ready for us. After a very quick & easy check-in, they told us where the elevators were, where our room was, and gave us other information about the hotel and shuttle that the Hyatt House Hotel provides for its guests. That evening we ordered food from their on-site little restaurant..it was surprisingly good! And I definitely appreciated that bar & drink while I waited to take our food back to the room. The room was CLEAN, had a nice amount of space, with a good layout, the beds are comfortable & slept well and the shower is very, very nice!
We did go to the pool for a bit...I will say, the pictures they have posted are diseaving! Though the pool, pool area, and outdoor furniture are really nice!... the pool is about half the size that it's made to look in the pictures online. But, regardless of the size or pictures, the pool, pool area, and furniture is very well maintained & we still enjoyed it very much. The workout room is absolutely awesome, we didn't use it, but we did stop to check it out. We intended to go down for the included breakfast... but, we must have all been exhausted because we slept too late & missed breakfast... it did sound like it would be a very nice choice of breakfasts though... (told ya the beds slept well😉) Overall, we all truly enjoyed the hotel & its amenities!! And all the staff we encountered during our stay were super welcoming, friendly, helpful, kind & courteous! We all appreciate all the staff being so accommodating to us. We enjoyed our stay, rested well and I would most certainly recommend this hotel as a fantastic accommodation to anyone & everyone! Thanks Again To The Hyatt House-Nashville &...
Read moreI stayed at Hyatt House - Vanderbilt in Nashville from 3/11 - 3/14 for a company retreat.
I was one of the organizers, but not one of the organizers working directly with the hotel. Our original sales contact quit two weeks before the event with no notice and no hand off. The Director of Sales wound up having to pick it up from there, and was generally annoyed at having to deal with us even though we spent tens of thousands of dollars for our event, and did not check in on us once during the entire stay. The event spaces were not cleaned up for our event. Our planned "snack breaks" were not served on time - we had to prompt the front desk around the timing for our snack break the first day and also putting up a wall partition our second day, even though we provided them with the timing of our agenda.
The food in general was disgusting. Breakfast - the eggs were multiple different colors. The lunches we paid for -- roughly $30-$40 / head - was the cheapest and grossest deli meat sandwiches one day and fajitas the next (the meat for the fajitas was inedible - both steak and chicken did not look like real meat and the texture did not seem like real meat). It seemed a lot of food might have been frozen and leftover.
We were fortunate that a Sales Coordinator and Chief Engineer were there and I give them a lot of kudos. It didn't seem like there was anyone aside from them genuinely trying to do things right. Now that our event is over, we discovered that numerous staff members have charges on their credit cards (required for booking) even though we arranged to pay through a master account. There was no apology and they told us to let our staff know to call them to fix the issue instead of them taking responsibility for fixing their mistake. We had to ask for them to check the list so we didn't have to ask close to 40 people to call the hotel to address the charge issue.
I would NOT recommend this hotel for any event you are holding. The rooms seemed fine and are quite large, and it's not far from downtown Broadway area if you want to go out or see museums so it's in a desirable location. But the service was abysmal and it's clearly very poorly managed. I give kudos to the few people who worked there that seemed to care as it just seems like the running of the hotel is in...
