Four of us went to Sicilian Pizza, which is within walking distance from the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, where we were seeing The Fab Four: The Ultimate Tribute perform later that night.
My wife and I ordered a medium New York style pizza with pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms and green peppers. We also had some salad and some fried mushrooms as an appetizer.
The salad was good, and the fried mushrooms were excellent. I recommend them if you're looking for a slightly different appetizer to try.
While the pizza didn't quite come out as an authentic NY style pizza (the crust was too thick and not foldable and did not replicate a NY style flavor profile), the pizza taken on its own merits was excellent. The crust was golden brown, baked perfectly and tasted good. The tomato pizza sauce was the star of the show, with a rich tomato flavor that didn't get lost among the other ingredients. The cheese on the pizza was tasty, as were the toppings, all of which seemed relatively fresh. Despite not being exactly what I expected, I would order this same pizza again from Sicilian Pizza, and I give them five stars for the food.
The service was excellent despite the restaurant being moderately busy. All of our food came out relatively quickly. The salad and appetizer came almost instantly after we sat down. The pizza came a very reasonable time afterwards. The staff were friendly. The drinks that we ordered were self-serve at a fountain with free refills, although bottled drinks were also available.
The atmosphere is very casual. The inside eating area is small, with maybe eight tables. The tables, chairs and decor are very plain, but the place looked clean and relatively well kept up. There were no negatives here, and it seems that the simplicity of the decor is reflected in the prices. The whole meal for the 4 of us cost roughly $60 before tip. Because there are no negatives and they passed the savings on to the customers, they get 4 stars for atmosphere.
If you're looking for a relatively simple, no-frills pizza place to get some great food, or you're just looking for a quick bite to eat before a show at the Schermerhorn, Sicilian Pizza is highly recommended. All four of us were very happy with our food and the experience, and I would go there again...
Read moreWe’re visiting from out of state and ordered from here. Our order was placed around 2 am and we were told it would be ready for delivery almost an hour later, no problem. I’m waiting around downstairs at the stated delivery time and no one shows up. After 15 minutes I check with the receptionist and apparently they decided to just drop it at a side table and walk out THIRTY MINUTES EARLIER with no notice. Part of our order was missing and who knows what happened to our food.
We called to speak with the staff who lied about being “already closed” (they close at 5 AM it was just after 3). We asked for a refund but were denied it without manager approval. Our pizza was cold - like basically ice cold/been there longer than 30 minutes and our breadsticks were missing. She kept putting me on hold to consult with someone, but wouldn’t give us any of their information. Instead she tried to pass the problem to whoever works in the morning shift. When I told her they dropped the food off earlier than the stated time without any update, she just hung up on me. When I called back to ask for her name she paused then repeated the name on the order which was highly suspicious.
Was this directly her fault? Probably not, but absolutely one of the worst handlings of customer service I’ve ever dealt with.
To top it off, once I took the elevator back to the room I found the breadsticks that someone clearly jacked from the order and threw down in the elevator.
No one should ever have to deal with this, whether they live here or are here on vacation.
Don’t ever order from here.
Edit: The business responded to this review and acted like they were going to make it right. I have called, emailed, and left messages for someone to call me back ALL of which have been without any response. “The management team” has not addressed this issue whatsoever and has not made it right. I highly doubt there’s an investigation into the issue and it seems more like they’ve been sweeping this under the rug. Review still remains a 1-Star for repeated...
Read moreDo NOT come here or even consider giving this place any business. No matter how hungry you are, how convenient of a location it is, how much the signs on the street entice you, or how good you think it smells from outside, do NOT spend any money here.
This is the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Absolutely and disgustingly abysmal, I cannot even begin to describe how terrible this place is. We're staying at the Indigo hotel and saw this place was close. We saw the low stars on it but decided to chance it because we were hungry, absolutely colossal mistake.
We placed an order over the phone, that should have been indicator number one. The individual we place the order with didn't even understand their own menu. We repeatedly stated that we wanted the appetizer calzone bread, but she tried to charge us for a full calzone numerous times. Once we spent 15 minutes on the phone placing the order, we walked down the street and waited a few to pick it up. The customers in the business were burning incense in the lobby, one random customer walked back into the kitchen and they let him, and the staff jokingly (but not, like seemed like they wanted us to actually pay $100) tried to charge us $100 three times when we tried to pick up our order, finally saying "oh yeah just joking it's $27."
We didn't catch it right away, we just paid and ran away, they charged us for two large fries when we only ordered one. We also got garlic knots and they were as cold as if they had been in the refrigerator waiting to be served to an unknowing customer. This place is horrendous and should be closed down...
