It's a shame this place was a huge disappointment because it was so easy to get a table, but I guess they weren't busy, because they aren't that good. With only one other table filled in the dining room, it took almost 45 minutes to get our meal. Once 6 of us received our meal, the 7th didn't come out for another 8-10 minutes. A portion of my meal was missing and they didn't bring syrup with one of the orders of French toast. After 45 minutes of waiting, the 2 orders of pancakes came out completely burnt and we had to send them back and wait longer for them. The waitress seemed as if she was new because she almost spilled 3 glasses trying to pour water instead of taking each glass and pouring it over the floor as opposed to reaching over us. She served the burnt food, knowing full well it was inedible. She was hardly around, though she did try to make it right once we complained and took the pancakes off of our bill. When refilling the coffee, it wasn't hot, but was room temperature. A couple positives are that their quiche was very good and the prices were reasonable.
Weird side note: All of the plates and cups are different and not the same. We had 3 people order French toast and every single one came on a different plate. My son's came on a plate that looked like a saucer. It was strange and looked completely unprofessional.
For Flanders being around so long and have a great reputation, we were so surprised by our terrible experience. Plenty of other places to get a good breakfast in OCNJ.
P.S. We rode our bikes to their restaurant and parked in their parking lot. As we came out, the parking lot attendant was rude and said he was about to have our bikes impounded because we weren't staying...
Read moreWell, this was a huge disappointment. First, the reservation experience was odd. They called to comfirm our reservation and asked if we were ok witb outdoor seating. I said we would prefer indoor. We were seated inside, but it was odd they asked that as the dining had many open tables and was not very busy. We ordered the shrimp and steamed clams for an app. Filet, crab cakes, all you can eat crabs and chicken fingers. The first thing to the table was all you can eat crabs for $72.95...AND THEN the other entrees came out...I asked where our appetitzers were and the response was should we keep the entrees warm while the chef gets the apps ready? So we asked to leave the entrees and bring out apps when ready. The food was underwhelming to be polite. All drinks were served in plastic cups. For a $200 meal, can we have glasses? Would not recommend this place. It is a real shame because the location is great, maybe under different management or another concept, this restaurant...
Read morePrior to our visit, l had checked reviews, which were very mixed---but everyone knows that people who like places tend not to take the time to write a review but those who were disappointed WILL take that time. Our family of 9 (one included a 7 week old) dined on the patio on a Thursday for the All-You-Can-Eat crabs. While the noise from the amusement park was annoying (not their fault), the crab legs were delicious in addition to the sides, especially the corn on the cob. There was no hesitation in substituting for a food allergy. Our server was attentive and brought more legs when we wanted them. Great experience! I am sure we...
