Overall our experience at this Marriott property was good. I'll break down my reasoning.
Location to downtown attractions is excellent, the Riverwalk & Alamo is a five minute walk. The general security of the property is good, but numerous panhanders are common around the property.
The only parking option is valet, and your vehicle is stored next door in a gated compound. I wouldn't want to park my vehicle on the open street, just pay the $30 / day.
The overall cleanliness of the property is excellent, but the structure has dated fixtures and AC / heating. The pool is small, but people appeared to enjoy it.
There was a massive gap under our room door, thus we could hear everyone talking, slamming doors, etc during the night. There needs to be an immediate door sealing kit placed on the bottom. It was very aggravating to be jarred awake in the night by rude guests.
Check in was effortless, and we had to make a change to our room. This accommodation change was expedited quickly and resolved to our satisfaction.
The breakfast menu was not very expansive. There were few meal options over the week that we stayed at the property.
Thankfully there was a waffle maker, but there was only syrup, vs strawberry and other tasty additions that can be placed on waffles.
The oatmeal station had numerous condiments to add, why not waffles?
There was bananas and oranges every day, that was nice. It would be great to add apples and another fruit choice as well.
The baked good were very limited to generally one choice, and only plain brown sliced bread. The addition of multi grain and other muffin / pastry choices would be excellent.
A huge commendation should be given to the staff, they were excellent. If it wasn't for them, this review would have been much lower.
Overall the hotel was good, but as a Marriott Hotel, the owners have to work on keeping the property modern, and expand the...
Read moreMarriott Management lacks customer service skills and only cares about taking your money even if it’s a fight over $138.93 when they took your booking info wrong. I booked this hotel two weeks in advance for a conference and was advised I would get a confirmation email. I called through the marriott reservations that ultimately connected me with Fairfield because the other hotels were fully booked. I gave them my information credit card and email information. The day of travel I realized I never received an email confirmation of my stay and spent 30 mins calling around trying to figure out which hotel I had booked with. No one could confirm. I booked with another hotel. The next day I got two transactions from Fairfield. The $ 138 and another $480. After spending almost an hour on the phone with them explaining the situation they advised they could not waive the $ 138 charge and advised that they never charged me $480. I was told to send them screenshots and maybe they could reduce the fee but not waive it. I learned from talking to management that They got my email wrong and that is why I never got a confirmation email but they conveniently got my credit card information right. Fairfield had availability at the time I booked but management said they were a business that held a spot when they could have booked with someone else and so they could not waive it even though they were not fully booked according to the person I made my reservations with. Moral of the story Marriott is greedy AF and will fight you tooth and nail for a nominal amount even if you’re...
Read moreGenerally, my wife and I liked the inn very much. While we were in San Antonio, we planned to spend most of our waking hours sightseeing in the downtown area. The inn is in a very convenient location to accomplish that goal. Everything in the room itself met our expectations: clean facilities, comfortable bed, quiet location. The complimentary breakfast provided a good selection of foods. The most disappointing aspect of the stay in San Antonio involves the valet parking. You must hand over your car to the valet staff for storage. It's expensive to our standards with a price (with tax) of around $25 per night. That being said, when we needed our vehicle, the parking staff got it for us within a very quick period of time. We saw the staff members actually running to bring vehicles to the entrance. The pool area experience was also a little disappointing. When we had returned from sightseeing, we wanted to use the pool and hot tub around 10 pm, but there were still so many children and teenagers in the area that we felt like we were intruding on them. It made us feel uncomfortable. The next morning I used both the heated pool and the hot tub. At 7-8 am I was the only one taking advantage of those facilities. Since a cold front was sweeping through the area at the time, I really appreciated the heated pool and the hot tub. My wife and I experienced a couple glitches at this inn, but we were able to work around them and enjoyed our stay in San Antonio very much. I recommend the hotel because of its helpful staff, the general comfort, and its...
