My husband and I stayed recently for my birthday weekend and do I have a story for you. The good: the room was tidy. Location was good, a bit of a walk to downtown, but not too far away. The not so great: the soap dispenser in the shower was pretty much empty. We only stayed two nights and by the second night there was no more soap. It was fine because we had bar soap, so not that big of a deal. The bad: Now, I take full responsibility for the first part of this. I accidentally left my keys in the drawer of the nightstand next to the bed. I didn't realize it until we returned home, but when I did I called them right away to tell them, gave them our room number, etc. They said they did not find them. They did call me back a little while later saying the found them, they would call UPS to pick them up and ship them to me, that UPS would call me for payment - which totally makes sense because it was my fault for leaving them. I said no problem, thank you and then I waited. No one called me Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday to confirm UPS picked up. I called them back on Wednesday. When I spoke to the front desk she said "oh yeah, I'm looking at them right now" so UPS was never called. I asked them to please let me know when they were picked up because, well, I need my keys. No one called. Then no call on Thursday or Friday. I called back on Saturday and was again told "oh yeah, they're still here." I stressed yet again that I really need my keys and it's been almost a week and the front desk laughed and said "I bet you do." And still, nothing. I called again on Monday and told them that I would be calling UPS myself, which I should have done after my second phone call with them, but they said they had called. I called UPS myself anyway. I know I am not the first person to ever leave something at a hotel. It was truly concerning how little they seemed to care about returning something as important as my keys to me, when all it took was one phone...
Read moreSimplicity with a touch of class. Pros: Affordable, safe, comfortable, and clean accommodation, with a home-like feel and gorgeous natural surroundings. Parking is guaranteed with room-assigned parking right in front of your room. Location is walking distance from downtown. Healthy* breakfast is included. The staff are warm and friendly. Our experience felt like visiting with relatives. The calm atmosphere rubs off. It was like we all (guests) just got into the chill vibe. Totally worth the modest difference in price compared to so-called budget options that feel so bare (no shampoo, for example) and suffocating (cigarette smoke-filled air directly outside a non-smoking room), etc. In the likes of Peach Tree, we’ve found a new home away from home. *Freshly prepared oatmeal, locally resourced fruits, and veggies. Cons: The shower knobs make annoying screeching noise. Was not unique to our room. It was our wake-up alarm from the room next door. I’m not a plumber so I don’t know if it has to do with pipes or lack of grease (WD40 to the rescue?) but it can be annoying. Hopefully a manager reading this—yes you—will do something about it. Overall, our stay at Peach Tree felt more like a retreat in a cozy home rather than a typical hotel stay. The warm hospitality, comfortable and clean rooms, and beautiful natural surroundings more than made up for the minor inconvenience of the noisy shower knobs. We highly recommend it for anyone seeking a peaceful, comfortable, and...
Read moreWe love roadside inns and found this gem last year. Both stays were short, only overnight while passing through on road trips but definitely want to stay for longer one trip. It's in a great location. Walking distance to food, bars, coffee shops. We walked at night and felt completely safe. I'm not sure what my favorite thing about the inn itself is. I love their breakfast. Soooooo many offerings! And the oatmeal isn't a gross mush. I could talk a long time about their breakfast :) They have seating areas scattered around under huge shade trees but my favorite is this huge porch. The view from the porch is just gorgeous. Every interaction I had was beyond friendly with staff. The rooms themselves are very clean - like reaaaaaly clean. Things like baseboards, little nooks and crannies - those things are spotless. We always bring our own pillows but the bed was super comfortable. I liked how they mixed antiques in. It gave the room a nice feel. And I loved the light fixtures! It also had this nice feature of a little built in with a mirror so I could finish getting dressed while my husband was in the bathroom finishing up showering. Overall we really enjoyed it as you can see, especially for the price point. It's obviously not a high end hotel with all the bells and whistles but for a roadside inn it's awesome. And bonus points you're supporting a local family...
