I booked this since I had to get a last minute room for the Cal Poly open house and it was the only place with a two bed room available that was under $500 a night. I knew it was a motel and a two star amenity place so set expectations accordingly. We got there in the morning and left car there to walk to event. I talked to the gentleman at reception and he told me that he would call when our room was ready since my daughter wanted to take a shower there ASAP. He was very pleasant, full props for that, but never actually called :(. The room itself was very basic, it had been cleaned but there were a few places that were obviously missed. The hairdryer in the bathroom (attached to wall) was broken. On the third day I asked for new towels since the room hadn't been service and the again very pleasant gentleman assured me it would be serviced while we were gone for the day. We came back and it had not. 5 stars for his attitude and interactions but unfortunately no stars for follow through.
It is typical motel style with rooms that open directly into parking, it can get noisy with people and cars coming and going. There was one window in front but we kept it closed for privacy since it looked directly into lot with people walking by. That made the room very dark since it was blackout curtain. I would have greatly appreciated a second privacy curtain which would block direct viewing but still let light in.
The location is fantastic for visiting Cal Poly - less than 20 minute walk to campus, can't get closer. Nothing interesting to walk to in area, if you want that, pick a place near the downtown core, very cute area. I paid about $250 for the Friday night during open house, the rate was $76 on Sunday night which should give an idea of what it is actually worth. If you are looking for rock bottom price in a convenient location to CP and basic but serviceable amenities, this is a decent option. But I will be staying in a slightly nicer...
Read moreWe booked one room for four adults for two nights. First, we missed the description that the beds were all full/double-size. Not having queen-sized beds was a significant inconvenience for us. Second, we were only allowed one set of towels per person. Two out of four of us shower twice daily, but we were denied clean towels for morning showers. Also, we traveled to SLO from Texas. The temperature was cooler than expected. We asked for extra blankets, but the front desk denied those. The second day of our stay we should have changed our sign requesting room service on our way out, but we forgot. When we returned to our room at the end of the day, we asked for clean towels and were denied. We were unable to shower on the second night of our stay. Lastly, we checked out at 6:19 in the morning. We asked for access to the continental breakfast but were told we had to wait eleven more minutes. I would only stay here again if I reserved one two-bed room for myself. That way, I would have all the bedding and...
Read moreChecked in right around 3 o’clock and got our stuff moved up to the room. The person who checked us in was very kind and helpful. Went out for a couple hours and when we came back the key card wasn’t working so I went down to the lobby to have it reprogrammed. When I told the person at the desk (different person) they immediately got confrontational and argumentative with me because they thought that I was a different guest who was there the previous day?? They eventually called the original person up to the desk where it was discovered that they had checked us into one room in the computer but had given us a key programmed for a different room? I understand that mistakes happen and I wasn’t upset about that, just wanted to not be locked out of our room, so to be combative off the jump was weird choice on their part. Location was good, felt safe. Room was what you expect for this price range. The A/C did struggle a bit and the...
