I used to love boondocks and I would always come here all the time with my friends but after my experience the other night I was honestly really let down by the way I was treated by security. It was towards the end of my night and my friend had just ordered the lyft, and all I had to drink that night was the drinks I bought at this bar, so I was still very coherent and aware of what was going on. I made the mistake of stumbling in front of a security guard inside of the bar and I was told it was time for me to go, which I then told him that my friend just called the uber and we were on our way out. He was escorting me out and I tripped and fell onto the ground and that apparently meant it was alright to have multiple grown men three times my size (I am a 5’6” gay man who weighs 120 pounds) pick me up and throw me out. I totally understand having people leave and making sure people don’t run and hide, or when people have too much to drink be okay with being told to go, but I have never felt more humiliated in my life being carried out with such force. I was not being aggressive, disruptive, violent, or threatening anyone’s safety, it was the grown men who grabbed me and threw me out which is something I did not appreciate nor were the actions justified. I would normally let this go but the next morning, I woke up with a sore arm and bruises on it where they grabbed me and I work at a labor intensive job and it was a struggle getting my tasks done during my shift. It is safe to say I will never be coming back, nor will I continue to suggest this bar, I think I’ll stick to hotchick right next door, at they’re mostly indoors and don’t have security guards who think its okay to * people because they stumble. Boondocks needs to do better but if you want to leave a bar with bruises this is the...
Read moreEDIT: went back in the morning and called the police to retrieve my ID because they would not give it back to me. 2 officers came and we all ended up waiting an hour because the manager took my ID home. At the end of this entire experience, all I got were some laughs going “oops! Sorry!”, and told that if I wanted to come back tonight I could get 1 free drink! S/O to Scottsdale PD. However, everyone at this establishment can get bent lol.
I have never met a group of bouncers with more fragile egos than I did at Boondocks. I am visiting from out of town. Last night was my first night out and the first bar of the evening. I paid $40 cover to get my ID taken. I turn 22 in 2 weeks. I am not a minor. It took 5 bouncers to put their brains together to look at my ID. They refused to give it back after deeming it to be fake. I called the nonemergency PD number to come to an ID verification- to which they explained that they do not do (understandably so). I offered several forms of additional verification including: my debit card, a photo of my passport, student ID, etc. The bouncer I spoke to is named Chase- mustache, brown hair, tall. I lost my money and identification- which I explained that I will need to fly home. The most ridiculous experience. Clearly this bouncer knew he was wrong by the way I offered many solutions, but didn’t want to be called out for being wrong. What a power trip for you! Losers. Unfortunate, because I have enjoyed this bar in the past. Get...
Read moreBoondocks isn’t just a bar — it’s a lifestyle. I’m here so much they probably should charge me rent, or maybe sponsor and pay mine so I can come here more than I already do! Whether I’m rolling in deep with the crew for a wild weekend throwdown or sliding in solo to catch the game on a Wednesday, this place never misses.
This is the people’s bar. Doesn’t matter if it’s your birthday, your breakup, your team’s big win, or you just landed a new gig — Boondocks is the default setting. I’ve celebrated and recovered here. Dated and been dumped here. Closed deals, opened tabs, lost my voice cheering during playoffs — and I keep coming back.
The vibe hits different no matter when you show up. Day drinking on the patio? Elite. Late-night dance floor chaos? Unmatched. Big game on? Wall-to-wall screens and the energy of a stadium crowd with better drinks.
The staff? Legends. They remember your name, your drink, and your story. The food holds it down — solid bar eats that soak up the good times. And the drinks come strong and fast, just how we like it.
Rain or shine, win or lose, this is home base. If you know, you know. And if you don’t? Come through once and you will. Boondocks is more than a bar — it’s part of the fabric...
