Okay, we just got back from a three-day stay at The REMI in Scottsdale. ||First of all: it's new (obviously - opened in July) and it's nice. Every single staff member we encountered was welcoming and friendly. Service was professional: no nonsense about charging when we showed up before check-in time (we had an early flight) - just an instant early check-in to a lovely and well equipped room. No nonsense about charging for a late check-out (our mid-afternoon flight had us wanting to leave a bit after the usual check-out time) - just an instant grant of a late check-out. ||The property is gorgeous - although small. But it doesn't feel small. Lovely and smart design throughout just makes everything light and airy and . . . well, it feels like a place you want to be. I was amused to note that it felt rather like one of the nicer Collins Road properties on Miami Beach (except that the rooftop pool offers a view of Camelback Mountain instead of the ocean).||Wow, and that's a glorious rooftop, too. Can't wait to get back there. ||Utterly quiet room - didn't hear neighbors or really much of anything. Bed was so very comfortable - we both got wonderful sleep. Actually, one day after waking at our normal time we just shut our eyes after talking a bit - and woke up three full hours later! Cooling worked great (the room was quite warm when we checked in but almost immediately dropped to our desired temperature and stayed there just fine. Outlets everywhere. Great WiFi everywhere. ||We stayed in a basic king room and it was reasonably well equipped, if a little cramped with all the furniture in it. (Bear in mind we've gotten used to staying in suites, and we probably should consider that next time at REMI - oh yes, we definitely want to return.) I don't love the "barn door" design trend but the one to the bathroom wasn't annoying. There was a heat-detecting light switch in the bathroom that wasn't working properly, but everything else was. Here were a few odd things we noted, though - things we were surprised to find in a hotel in this caliber. 1) There was only one robe in the room (did I book a single by mistake?). 2) There was no ice bucket (and I have no idea where the ice is to be found - I suspect the hotel would have instantly brought some to the room had I asked. 3) That issue was compounded by the fact that there was absolutely no room in the fridge for our own stuff. Oh, there was a preposterously overflowing minibar area with all manner of amusingly overpriced schlock, but no room for a bottle of wine. You know - most of the nice places where we stay manage to have a minibar fridge and a fridge for their guests. Oh well - small room. 4) No makeup mirror (again, I suspect a call downstairs would have gotten us one). 5) A (very nice) turndown maid waltzed into our room without knocking - thirty seconds before, it could have been awkward, as I was changing for supper. 6) The elevators ding as you ride past each floor but open with utter stealth when you push the button to catch a ride in one - that almost caused us to miss them several times (there are three so at least one's behind you) and a security staffer commented on how odd it was. Upside was they moved well and one never had to wait long, even when things got busy. ||Oh, and they get busy! Starting Thursday evening, the REMI becomes a remarkably popular place to be. It's ritzy and happening in the evenings. I didn't find it noisy in our room, but the REMI provides earplugs (there's that South Beach feel again) so perhaps some rooms aren't so lucky. ||So - I like it a lot. But the REMI not quite operating at the level I'd expect for a five-star hotel of this price point. I'd encourage anyone to check it out, though - the design of the space, the welcoming staff and just the comfortable beauty of the REMI make it pretty wonderful, even for the tariff. We very much...

When I arrived I certainly felt underdressed as I approached the velvet ropes and security. The REMI is Very classy, upscale, dress code, âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ Marriot. REMI will check every single box of the most bougie friend you have in the best ways ever. Room was clean & comfortable. 2 problems 1 the noise (outside music) all day & night but it didnât bother us as it is the entertainment district, so noise should be expected. Secondly the shower had almost no pressure at all. I mentioned it to the front desk and they sent someone up to fix it right after we left the room. They have nice amenities in the room, shampoo/conditioner/body wash/ best high quality hairdryer/ post cards/black out curtains/ table & mini bar SO many varieties. There was no ice machine, so we had to have ice delivered several times. We used the workout room open 24/7. Good selection of weights, treadmills, foam rollers, water/ earbuds/ towels etc but what it is missing is a bathroom, the gym is on the 5th floor & we had to go to our room on the 7th floor if we need to use it. Spent some time at ALLEGRA ambience, beautiful sunsets. All the food we tried was excellent, very fresh tried the beet salad, salad with chickpeas, meze platter etc. drinks were delicious & unique w edible flowers. I like bubbly, they have champaign splits (brut) I enjoyed that. I saw the bartenders using huge square ice cubes for neat pours of whiskey, I love all the attention to detail. When we were sitting at the bar, a hook under the bar would be nice to hang a purse or bag on. The only place to put your purse/bag is on top of the bar or behind your chair. We met Emma, she is a Beautiful girl that is from the same home town we are from, how cool is that. You can tell she loves her job & wants everyone to have the best experience while they are there. Went to F Sixteen the restaurant on the main floor just to the right of check-in for one meal a day We love Gianna, she was super happy, helpful & cared about our needs. She is a bright light. The manage was great too, didnt get his name. He was very personable & remember little details about our trip and always asked about them. Most importantly we felt totally safe the entire time we were there. Lots of security & staff to make your stay as enjoyable as it could be. My favorite Marriott Hotels are Editon & JW. I dont have a desire to even look at those in this area, I will go back to REMI. Very satisfied! Side note if you are platinum or above they do not have a M Club, and even though I thought I was told before I got to the hotel that their wasnt going to be a charge for valet, I was. Its $50 a night...

First I will say that the actual building is very nice. The restaurant is gorgeous and has good ambience. Both of these things cannot make up for the HORRIBLE guest experience. Upon arrival, there were 5 security guys at the front door that immediately began questioning us. My friend and I were carrying birthday gifts and our overnight bags as we were hotel guests. We could not even make it into the lobby without being interrogated about whose birthday we were celebrating, if we were actually guests, and lectured about not taking bags to the pool floor. Mind you, we had not even stepped foot in the lobby yet. Once we got inside, we needed to meet our friend to get a hotel key as she was already at the hotel pool. The employee at the elevator began interrogating us about which floor we were going to and again lecturing about not bringing our purses or bags to the pool deck. Mind you, we had not even been allowed to get to our room yet to drop any of our things. Once we made it to the exterior of the pool deck, the employee at that door would not allow us to signal our friend to come bring the key or walk onto the pool deck to retrieve the key ourselves.
Once we were FINALLY able to access the room that we paid for, we were able to go to the pool. There were approximately 8 servers and 6 aimless dudes in security t shirts roaming around awkwardly. In a 3 hour period, no one came to take an order. My friend had to go tap on a serverâs shoulder who was too concerned with dancing and taking videos of herself to be bothered to do her job.
Our third friend arrived at the hotel and the lobby security would not allow her to come up to meet us. We were told someone needed to go down to walk her up. My friend had to annoyingly put her bikini cover up on and go down even though they had just let us up an hour earlier. Once she returned, the security guy at the door lectured her about modesty and not being fully covered up. When she said that she was wearing a cover up and what more could she possibly do aside from returning to the room and putting on a turtleneck, he said they needed to keep things at the hotel âclassy.â This is extremely offensive. The website explicitly states swimwear is not permitted after 6pm in the lobby which is reasonable. It was 2pm.
After dinner, we returned to the hotel and were condescendingly nodded at to get in the back of the line. It was extremely frustrating to have to push through and then show each of our room cards to be let into the lobby of a hotel we voluntarily paid to stay in.
It is assuring to see that 90% of the other reviews share the same sentiment about the terrible guest experience. Hopefully adjustments are made or this place wonât be...
