Terrible experience. Atmosphere was great. Live music that wasn't too loud, nice ambiance.

Service was nearly nonexistent. We had a large table with automatic gratuity and we were treated like it. The server was a nice guy but completely unattentive. He didn't remove a single empty dish and only took empty drink glasses when I physically handed them to him. It took 3 tries to get my wife's order right and two other guests had ingredients missing. We waited 20 minutes after we'd completed our meals to be checked on at all. He wouldn't split our check ahead of time so we had to go through item by item and tell him how to divide it, adding another 20 min to trying to leave after we were long finished.

Value wasn't great and they nickle-and-diming was so absurd it was laughable. Who charges an extra $1 for cilantro on MEXICAN TACOS??? $2 for onions. $2 for tomatoes. All on tacos... we weren't asking for lobster or truffles on the tacos...we were asking for typical taco ingredients.

My steak tacos were so greasy it soaked through the tortilla and there were actual puddles of grease under the steak. The steak was so salty I couldn't finish it. I should mention that everyone else was basically satisfied (once everything was made right).

The $14 churros gets you 2 churros cut in half with dip. Ours were rock hard and looked supermarket bought. The dip had a bit of cilantro in it when it was delivered to us. I sent this dish back. The manager took it off and gave us a 10% discount on the check but didn't apologize or seem like he cared at all. He just took the dish and said "ok I'll take it off".

All told, we will definitely not be coming back. It's a tourist trap and they gouge you. Not worth the...

FOOD POISONING! Myself and 5 others drove into Sedona at the start of a 4 day weekend to celebrate a birthday in our group. Stopped in at 89Agave for dinner and drinks and had a great time. The food was eh but the drinks were good and our waitress was welcoming. Fast forward to the middle of the night, and two of the people in our group started throwing up and experiencing diarrhea. Unfortunately, because of their food poisoning, they weren't able to participate in the hikes and day trips we had planned for the weekend. I called the restaurant and spoke to Nicholas, the manager. He seemed to be indifferent to the situation, but at least he took my information and informed me that an insurance company was going to be in contact and that he was going to refund our tickets. Fast forward again a couple of days, and still no refund. I called the restaurant to ask for an update and was informed the situation was out of their control and that I needed to work with the insurance company. The female manager (forgot her name) insinuated we had probably gotten food poisoning from another restaurant. Angered by this response, I asked to speak to the general manager (also forgot her name). She (the GM) was at least very reasonable and calm. She handled the situation much better, but the bottom line was that they can't/won't refund a bill because it's a corporate policy of theirs. We paid for mediocre food that got some of us sick and started off our trip on the wrong foot. Policy or no policy we can't help but feel wronged. My rating for 89Agave is: DEFINITELY...

Fathers day Sad story - I pushed my family to go to this restaurant and got burned bad :( I loved this place, I would rant and rave about 89 Agave to everyone. Occasionally even day dream about the delicious margaritas and nachos! But that all changed this past Father's day.

My dad, brother, niece, and myself all walked in and found only 2 other tables filled. Thinking this is perfect, empty place so we are gonna get great service! Little did we know it would be the exact opposite.

Walked in and got a table right away, took a bit for the waiter to come over. Maybe 3min or so, gave us time to pick out margaritas and an app. When the waiter came he took our order then left. In the meantime another table comes in with more people than us. They get sat right away and different waiter goes up immediately and takes their drink order. I don't think much of anything except we go there just in time.

8min later we still don't have drinks(not even soda) and I look and the other table that came in after us just got their 6 margaritas and sodas...

Our waiter no where to be seen. Family and I decide that it's unacceptable service when there are only 3 other tables filled, tons of other staff goofing around, and bartender watching TV. We decided to leave, manager tried to come over and get us to stay by him offering to make the drinks for us. But the damage had already been done, my father was upset about this poor experience and we were not going to risk another issue happening.

Very sad to see such an amazing place go bad. Sadly won't be...

The food is nowhere near good enough for the price. One of us had a taco salad and paid $6 more for chicken. That was a joke in itself. The chicken was flat on flavor, cold as if it just came from the refrigerator and had a bone in it. The amount of chicken would have been equal to about a 1/2 of a normal chicken breast. The majority of the salad was filled with romaine lettuce.....but not the nice leafy greens. More of the yellow center core part of the romaine. If you're looking for the guacamole, you'll find that underneath the taco shell holding it to the plate. The guacamole comes not as quac but as slices of avocado in the salad. There were plenty of cherry tomatoes under all the lettuce, but very little of anything else. And the sauce was also very blah on flavor. It was more sweet than anything. The salad itself was $22. Another one of had a quesadilla with added chicken (for an extra $6) which was $19. I would say it was the best of the 3 meals we ordered. But, on a flavor level, it would get about a 5. Definitely not worth the price. Finally, the other one of us had nachos for $16 and no meat added. Their "specialty" seasoned chips had no "special flavor" to them at all and the chips themselves weren't great in flavor or texture. Their cheese sauce was very bland. It was all just so super disappointing! I will say their pico was pretty good. The staff was very nice and everything was plated beautifully. But sorry, that does not make up for the poor food quality, blah flavor, and extreme prices.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant, and I felt compelled to share my thoughts. The service was terrible from the moment we arrived. From the hostess to the waitress, it felt like they were in a rush and didn’t care at all about providing a welcoming or enjoyable experience. We had put our name on the waitlist, but after waiting for some time, another party walked up, and the hostess gave them our table without any explanation or acknowledgment of the wait we had. This left a very bad first impression. When we finally sat down, the service was just as bad. Our waitress seemed incredibly rushed and inattentive. To make matters worse, the table next to us was also struggling with the waitress, who seemed to prioritize other tables and barely paid attention to their needs. It was frustrating to see this lack of care for customers. The food was mediocre at best—not nearly as good as we had hoped. We were expecting something better given the hype, but it didn’t live up to expectations at all. To top it off, the restrooms were out of service, so we had to leave the restaurant and find a public restroom. Overall, it was a very underwhelming experience. Between the poor service and disappointing food, I would definitely pass on this place in the future.

Really great food!! Located on the corner, in what I'd consider the heart of "downtown" (?) touristy Sedona, directly on a roundabout. Off street parking is available in the area, but it's difficult to come by. Fri nite, 7:15pm (close at 9). 20 min wait. The doors were open, and there's a patio (it had been raining, so the patio was wet and limited their seating). But its neat to see all the cars (many of them pretty fancy) drive by, and people watch. Modern, yet cultural feel inside. 2 walls have hundreds of bottles of Jaritos lined up!! Makes for a fun and colorful atmosphere. The whole area is worth walking around in, and the scenery can't be beat. Worth the parking frustration. Margaritas were super good. We each had 2, and I asked for 16oz glasses vs the baby margs (8oz). $12 maybe? Chips and salsa were perfect - hot and mild options. I didn't need to add salt to the chips - they were lightly salted and spot on for me. Loved my steak fajitas!! Tender beef, onions, variety of peppers. Sour cream, pico, guac, flour tortillas. I would order them again for sure! The steak enchilada was huge, and my partner really enjoyed it. $95 I think? The staff members were all pleasant and friendly. We will be back when in town!
