Could not figure out why my allergies were bothering me so much when I arrived. Then I saw the air conditioner unit and all the mold and mildew. I was totally disgusted how the dishes and glasses are below the air conditioner unit. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash are above average. I didn’t read the manual book right away because we arrived late and tired. There is no management or office on the premises. My husband asked the housekeepers how to get more towels and they said you can go to the laundry room to get what you need, you just have to use code. I’m glad that we did not run out of hot water while taking a shower, because the shower head only trickles water out, so I had to take a long shower to get soap and shampoo rinsed off. The toilet paper holder didn’t work well. The coffee was horrible tasting! I loved that they had a Keurig. Wi Fi would only work half of the time! My husband had to work every morning and needed to rely on it to work. So it delayed us getting out and enjoying South Lake Tahoe! When watching TV it would buffer about every 15 minutes then freeze for a bit. The motel does not in force one car per room to park in the parking lot or that anyone can park in the lot. So we had to park behind the motel in the street which I didn’t like. There is a pool, but closed the whole time we were there for 5 days. After reading the motel manual, it was not made clear about passes to get to the private beach for half off. We had to learn this after walking down to beach to watch fireworks and was told there should be wristbands in room. We figured it out after I walked back to room and was talking to another guest. There are no outlets on most all the walls. There was one power strip on floor next to bed. I loved they had a fan and it worked great. They put ear plugs on side tables next to the bed and I thought that was weird. We figured it out real quick, why…. Thinnest walls I have ever experienced! It would be nice to have some sorta clock in the room. I wouldn’t be too upset about my stay if it would have been cheap, but it was not. I did feel safe and didn’t have to worry. I thought it was sad in the manual that they state, if you give them a five star review, they will give you 5% off your next...
Read moreWe enjoyed our stay at Moose and Maple Lodge. The room was cute, clean, with a really comfortable bed. It had a fireplace that provides heat for the room. We only needed it for 2 nights of seven. It has a nice kitchenette with all the things you need to make meals. We ate all of our breakfasts in. It has a nice shower with plenty of hot water. The shower and bathroom have pump bottles with all you need shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand wash. It has a free washer and drying facility with detergent provided. We were going to use it but it is a front load washer and had a really strong mold/mildew smell, so we skipped that amenity. They don't have daily in-room housekeeping services but you can pick up extra towels, paper towels, toilet paper, soap, etc in the laundry room. Bring extra wash cloths if you need more than one for your stay because there were none among the other linens. You could hear all of the foot steps of the guests in the rooms above which didn't bother us but could be a problem for folks with sleep issues. There is no carpet in the unit which is nice for cleanability. There was not a lot of space in our unit for hanging clothes because the refrigerator was in the clothes closet. So we hung them on the coat hangers by the front door. There are 3 big drawers for clothes and storage. If you have a lot of trash you take it to the dumpster or leave it out for housekeeping. We only contacted the property once. The fireplace didn't turn on. The maintenance man came right over and lit the pilot light and got it going. We felt safe there and it is in walking distance to restaurants and the lake. We would definitely recommend this property and would stay again on a...
Read moreI usually only stay at hotels chains like Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott but we decided to book a last minute trip to South Lake Tahoe and the prices for the chains were insanely expensive. Through extensive comparisons of Priceline, Yelp, Hotels.com, Trivago, and Orbitz, we found the Moose and Maple Lodge. This is the highest rated motel with a pool that also allows dogs that was in the reasonable price range. The check-in was contactless, and doors all use codes. The room also had a small kitchenette so I was able to make quick meals. The kitchen had everything we needed and the mini fridge was able to fit our lunches and a couple nights of dinner groceries. This hotel has a prime location and is close to everything. The only downside is we could hear our upstairs neighbors walking (second floor are the larger units). I think most motels in Tahoe will have this problem, but what I liked about M&M is they acknowledged this and left (4) sets of ear plugs on the nightstand. I slept like a baby on their Tempur-pedic mattress and only woke up bc the walking upstairs woke up my dog bc he's not used to that. I read a review on Yelp that it would have been nice if they had a broom in the room for people that stayed longer to sweep up the dirt. Well, I noticed they have a broom in the room I was staying in, so I think they read comments and take it as an opportunity to improve. I was delightfully surprised how cute and nice this motel was. The little details that made our stay really comfortable. We will definitely come back...
