If you make a trip to South Padre Island and don’t visit Nautico even once you will be missing out! My parents went to SPI a week before my family trip with my husband and our son. When they got back they told us all about their time there and Nautico was one of the very first things they mentioned. My parents said they HAD to go back and went twice during their trip! My mom got the fish enchiladas both times because she absolutely loved them. And when my dad told me about his experience here he had mentioned it was the “best burger he has ever had” which really stuck out to me because burgers are my favorite dish. My parents STRONGLY encouraged us to visit during our trip the following week so of course we had to check it out.
Y’all this place was amazing. A must visit for any time we come back. We walked in and the place was so colorful and fun! The walls were covered with beautiful art! We were seated and quickly given water while we looked over the menu. My husband and I ordered two appetizers to share, the fries with a variety of their homemade sauces and the stuffed shrimp. I will be thinking about those shrimp for the rest of my life they were SO good. We ordered our 2 year old his favorite, a grilled cheese. He eats a good variety of food but we typically get him a grilled cheese pretty much everytime we go out because it is his favorite. Y’all even the kids grilled cheese looked AMAZING. It was on beautiful Texas toast and looked like something an adult could enjoy as well. He tore that grilled cheese up, he LOVED it. My husband ordered the seafood platter which he loved. I unintentionally ordered the most gorgeous cocktail I have ever seen. I cannot remember the exact name of my drink but it was the only one with lavender in the name. I ordered it because it sounded worth trying and I felt so excited once I saw it in person! Not only was it adorable but it tasted great! I would absolutely reorder. Their menu was long and everything looked amazing! So many dishes I wanted to try. But since my dad told me the bold claim that Nautico had the “best burger he’s ever had” I just had to order it and see for myself. I love a good burger but not everywhere gives them as much care as their other dishes. When it came out it already looked amazing. The provolone cheese I added was wonderfully melted, the sour dough bun looked perfect and the garlic herb aioli sauce was the perfect addition to any burger. Once I assembled the toppings & added the sauce I couldn’t try this burger soon enough. Well my dad’s bold claim is now mine as well. That was the best burger I have EVER had in my life. And burgers are my all time favorite food. It was perfect, not one single thing I would change about it. I was so nervous I would regret ordering a burger when they had so many other amazing options. I honestly can’t see myself NOT getting that burger next time we go, it was just that good. Absolutely make this place a must try on your trip! If you’re only here for a single day GO HERE! If you’re here for a few days go here first because you’ll want to go a second time...

I had the pleasure of visiting Nautico Island Grill recently and was impressed by the variety of dishes they offered, each with a unique twist on traditional coastal cuisine. To start, the ceviche was incredibly fresh and flavorful, with a perfect balance of citrus and spice. The tropical cashew salad was also a delightful surprise, with a delicious combination of sweet and savory flavors and a generous portion of cashews providing a satisfying crunch.
For the main course, I highly recommend the blackened chicken sandwich. The chicken was cooked to perfection, with a delicious charred exterior and juicy, tender meat. The Nauti Burger is also a must-try, with a generous portion of beef cooked to your liking and topped with melted cheese and fresh toppings. The Quesadilla plate is another standout option, with a generous portion of melted cheese, fresh toppings, and a side of salsa and guacamole.

Read moreWe stumbled upon Nautico Island Grill almost by accident, looking for a quick place to eat lunch with our dog, and we’re glad we found it because it was pretty good. Parking is solid, they have a lot just to the side of the restaurant and it is clean inside and out. As mentioned, we had our dog so we ate outside on their patio and it was pretty hot. They do have a hose to fill a dog bowl on the patio, but just be aware that even with an umbrella to cover the sun it was still very hot. The service was quick and good too, all positive signs before we got to our food arriving.
Our food came out pretty quick. We ordered the fettuccine alfredo with a side of their soup of the day, which was a lobster bisque, and their Nauti’s fish tacos. Both meals were great. The fettuccine alfredo was creamy, a great texture with every bite and very filling. It came with a little bread that didn’t add much but it’s something. The lobster bisque was not that great, thin and overly “fishy”, yeah we get it’s lobster but it tasted artificial. As for the fish tacos, they were the single best meal we had in SPI. They were perfect in every way from texture to taste and size, just an absolute home run on it. We got a side of mashed potatoes with it but were too busy devouring the tacos to even pay it any mind. Lastly, we got a pina colada and mango daiquiri, both of which were among the best we had at the bars in SPI. This was a great lunch and we were pleasantly surprised by how good it all was.
This is a place it pains not to give a five star to. We try to reserve our fives so they have a bit more weight on the experience and/or taste and quality of food, but this is pretty close to it. The one thing we would recommend is addressing the heat outside as it’s right off the main street and very hot but this is a place we very highly recommend to anyone in SPI or looking to go here and...
