My friend and I were in SPI for a girls weekend. She loves seafood and I am not a fan so after a few days of seafood places, I suggested Charlie’s after reading all of the reviews. When we walked in it was around 730 so it t wasn’t super busy. There was maybe 2 tables of other customers, one finishing up their order and another waiting for theirs. We checked out the menu and decided to go with a pepperoni Stromboli and a Hawaiian Stromboli and bread sticks and planned to take our order to go. We put our order in and took a seat. A few minutes after us, another large table came in and placed their order. While we were waiting we reviewed our receipt because it seemed rather high (over $60) when the menu listed each item for 8.99. We sat and chatted for a bit and decided to a slice of cheesecake each as well. (Don’t judge! It was vacation and we planned on eating well!) I went up to add the cheesecake and questioned our bill. The lady cancelled the original receipt and rang it up again. She said the wrong price was on the Stromboli and it wasn’t the other girls fault because she had the wrong amount written on their cheat sheet. I still questioned it after I walked away so I asked again. I was informed it was 8.99 for a cheese Stromboli and 15.49 for a pepperoni or a Hawaiian. Which that’s fine, but it should probably be noted on the menu, like X $$ for each topping, but how did they cost the same on a 1 filling vs. 2 fillings? At this point, we have been waiting over a half an hour for our food and are pretty over it and it felt like they were over us, too. After 40 minutes, the table that came after us got their food. The staff was quick to tell us our order was coming, Stromboli takes longer to bake. I get that it takes longer and thankfully, they started boxing it up a few minutes later. And then it happened… they realized they forgot to make the bread sticks. Did we want to wait some more or get our money back? We opted to get the money and then wait some more for them to get the cheesecake. Finally we got everything and headed back to the condo to eat. I wanted to stay mad, but I took my 1st bite and it was AMAZING. Good quality ingredients and the crust… yum! Mine was a little over baked, but that’s ok, I like it that way. I think once they get a few timing kinks worked out, update the menu, and continue to create from the heart, the sky will be the limit for them.

Back again 28 Dec 2024 the doors are LOCKED. I returned on 29 Dec 2024 at 3:10 pm...Doors , again, are LOCKED. Seeing a lite on, I knocked on the door. No one responded. I got into my car and scrolled for info on my phone... A short young woman opens the door from the inside. I got out of my car and addressed her. She stated it would take at least 20 minutes for the oven to warm up.... It's 3:20 pm. I told her - forget it. This young lady ISN'T responsible enough to open at posted times...not even close to those posted times. I don't think this young girl gives a crap about the reputation you've established on SPI and her behaviour lost Charlie's our business. See our previous post below: Best Pizza Pie on the Island!!! 29 Feb 24 You can see the individual ingredients and differentiate what you're looking at. Huge! That concept got lost with those other pizza shops. Want a beer? BYOB! Another great concept! Gluten sensitive or simply trying to reduce carbohydrates? They have a cauliflower crust we're going to try next trip. Finally, a pizza place SPI can talk about. Veterans also get a discount!

We are new residents of SPI transplanted from the Northeast, New Jersey specifically. We’ve tried several pizzas on the island and haven’t quite found one that comes close to our high pizza standards. Until today! Charlie’s Pizza was fantastic! The staff was friendly, they got our order correct and they were attentive to our needs. The pizza: we decided to order a large and share since pizza doesn’t go bad in our house (unless it’s bad pizza, as my husband pointed out). The moment the pizza came to our table and I picked up a slice I noticed right away the aroma and crispness of the crust. It seemed just right. Once it had cooled and I was able to take a bite I discovered that this was the pizza we’d been looking for! The sauce was a little under-seasoned but other than that it was the closest we’ve come to pizza like home! The only reason I gave four stars for atmosphere was it was a little too warm inside and the music was a little too loud.

Editing to respond to the owner:

It really doesn't matter that the person who charged me for three orders of garlic bread wasn't the person who took my order. THEY RECOUNTED MY ORDER TO ME AFTER I TOLD THEM. THEY CLEARLY KNEW I DID NOT ORDER 3 ORDERS OF GARLIC BREAD. On top of that they only charged me for all of this after going to confer with someone in the back. The person who TOOK MY ORDER was up front with us. It was a clear scam on tourists and I'd never advise someone to trust your business with their card information.

Tried to rip me off. Applied 3 orders of garlic bread at 8.99 each to my order, and charged me 7.99 a piece for key lime pie. Total was basically 80 bucks when all I ordered was one pizza, two pieces of pie and garlic bread. Acted like it was a mistake and told me "they're saying you got three orders of garlic bread." When I just got my food handed to me by the same person and they clearly didn't give me three orders of garlic bread.

Avoid this place, no pizza is worth someone trying to rip you off. I highly doubt their pie is actually 8$ a slice, but had no intent on arguing with them further. I have concerns about them actually having my card info, although I gladly hit 0$ for the tip when I normally tip 20%+ even for...

Charlie’s Pizza a seemingly overnight staple in South Padre Island and a MUST visit Pizza place on any vacation to the island! The staff there is AMAZING, very friendly & so welcoming! My wife and I appreciated how helpful they were in accommodating our pizza preferences (well done undercarriage etc). Let’s get into the PIZZA! We ordered two different pies, one pepperoni well done and a regular meat lovers pizza. The pepperoni pie was cooked to perfection with light sauce and a perfect balance of cheese. The crispness of this pizza was so satisfying with a consistent crunch in every bite. The meat lovers was for my in laws so I didn’t partake but my in-laws said it was delicious and went as far as to say 10 out of 10.

I recommend Charlie’s to anyone craving pizza especially if you’re staying on the island it’s a good feeling taking a top tier pizza to your hotel room as your bed time meal 🍽️.

I rate Charlie’s a 8.1/10 on the pizza and a 10/10 on the service.

(Note to the owner, this was almost the best pizza I ever had I’d make 2 small changes. #1 incorporate some slight spices to the crust . #2 adding some fresh herbs to the sauce as it would take the pizza to a...
