This place is a total tourist trap. If you’re just looking for a fruit or veggie salad with “some” shrimp, it might seem like the go-to spot—but that’s about it.
The cleanliness here is seriously lacking. The prep surfaces looked like they hadn’t been wiped down in ages—definitely not up to food safety standards. Cross-contamination seemed inevitable. In the 20 minutes I waited to order, I watched the girl behind the counter eat and drink without washing her hands once. Then a guy took out the trash while wearing gloves, came back in, swapped gloves without washing his hands, and immediately started prepping food.
Everything about the space felt unsanitary. The surfaces were visibly dirty, and it was uncomfortably hot inside. The same guy who didn’t wash his hands was sweating heavily and wiping his forehead while handling food—definitely not okay.
Some serious management and food safety training are needed before people start getting sick. And if your idea of “fresh,” as some other reviews suggest, includes pre-cut veggies from a bag, then you’ll probably be fine. Unfortunately, my tomatoes were wilted and had that unpleasant “refrigerator” taste.
Maybe this place used to be worth the hype, but like many spots that get too popular, the quality and flavor have clearly...
Read moreWhen I read the article claiming Ceviche Ceviche was the best seafood restaurant in Texas, I had two thoughts - no way (I was wrong) and we need to try it (we did).
The owners follow an important business precept - do one thing and do it well.
After you place your order, you watch the staff assemble your ceviche. Chop up at least 8 ounces of toppings (we had the Classic - tomato, onion, cilantro, and avocado), chop 4 ounces of denatured fish and shrimp, mix the two piles together with gloved hands gently rolling the mixture, and squeeze three limes on top, then transfer to a 8×8 clamshell takeout container for the customer to take home.
The amount of food is a feast for two adults. The ceviche was exquisite. The only thing I will change next time is replace the avocado with jalapeño for a little more kick and maybe add mango for some sweetness to counterbalance the spice and acid. For those who like their food really spicy, Ceviche Ceviche also offers Serrano and Habanero pepper as toppings.
Conclusion - this little hole-in-the-wall takeout ceviche only restaurant in the beach town of Port Aransas is one of the best seafood restaurants in Texas and the...

Okay, so I’m not a big seafood person, but my wife really wanted ceviche, so we decided to give Ceviche Ceviche a shot while visiting the island. Gotta say—the shrimp ceviche was actually really good. Super fresh, flavorful, and way better than I expected for someone who usually avoids seafood.
BUT the real winner here? The poke bowl spot right next door—owned by the same folks. OMG. This place is next-level. I wasn’t even sure what to get, so the friendly staff helped me build a bowl with soy sauce, spicy mayo, grapes, tuna, jalapeño, cilantro, cucumber… not even sure how it all worked so perfectly together, but it did.
The flavors were amazing, the ingredients were super fresh, and the people working there were awesome—really helpful and clearly passionate about the food.
This spot is officially on my must-visit list any time I’m back on the island. Highly, highly recommend if you’re into poke—or even if you’re not and just want to try something new....
