STAY AWAY! This is the worst possible motel you could stay in. After numerous extremely concerning things were brought to their attention, they not only refused to refund my room but didn't even seem concerned when I told them they needed to at least close that room & any others like it until the black mold has been removed.
But let me start at the very beginning... I was coming into town late in the middle of a move and found a "newly remodeled king suite" on sale for $90 after taxes and fees. Seemed a bit steep for a cheap motel but I assumed it had to do with the fact they had just remodeled the room and didn't want to drive to the next town so I decided to give the red roof inn a chance. Honestly, I wish I would've kept driving because not only was the room disgusting but there was suspicious activity as well.
When arriving in one of the only rooms they had left we walked in to insantly see a couch stained so bad it looked like God knows what happened on it and picked up off the side of the road... there were stains and cigarette burns on the sheets, cigarette burns on the toilet seat, black mold in multiple places throughout the bathroom, the lighting fixture in the room was hanging down from the ceiling with wires, most likely live by the look of it. The shower head was so disgusting + the black mold + the safety concern with the light made it to where my husband and I couldn't shower.
So we tried to just make the best of what we could and got ready for bed. My husband was waiting to open the door for me after I walked the dog but shortly after I left the room he heard someone pull up out front playing music as loud as possible. A minute or so later he heard a knock on the door and assuming it was me opened it to see a girl run off and me nowhere around. After returning to the room and getting ready for bed the car was still out front with their music/subs on high volume right in front of our door. This went on for at least 30 minutes around midnight and finally I called the front desk. This is their property and they should have to deal with suspicious activity on the property, when instead after calling the front desk and she asked for our room # (a separate building from the main building/office) she then told me to call the police myself... this still kept us up an hr after we planned to go to bed.
We didn't have a security lock on the door, it clearly looks like it had been broken off in most likely a forced entry of some sort & never fixed, which is extremely concerning in itself, even moreso with strangers knocking on doors. We had to put a chair behind the door & stack it with our suitcases because we didnt have an extra lock and the area was clearly shady.
Woke up in the morning and was hoping we could at least have some coffee before we left only to find out that someone had cut the cord to the coffee pot in half. Not sure why but it was strange and annoying on top of everything. Couldn't even have coffee before hitting the road with a lack of sleep.
Then after consulting with Red Roof Inn and asking to refund my money or at the very least shut down the rooms with black mold but they only offered me what would be about 30% off of another room... not even a FREE room, which I still wouldn't take after that experience but the fact they didn't acknowledge my concern about black mold and would only not refund my room but only gave me a discount off another room is insane to me.
Needless to say it looks like I'm going to have to contact the health inspector in Tifton because it doesn't seem like they have any concern about the safety of the people who keep that motel open by...
Read moreThis was our second stop on our way from Toronto to Punta Gorda Florida. |This was our first long trip with our 9 month old puppy. We’ve found in the past that Red Roof Inn’s are pretty much a crap shoot when it comes to the condition of the hotel. Honestly it’s hard to complain when paying the rate they have (last night we paid $50 extra at a Hampton Inn for the dog!) however we’ve experienced situations in the past where our safety was at risk. |Happy to report that this Red Roof Inn was a good experience for the most part. The staff at the front desk was friendly and efficient and the lobby looked clean and tidy. |Se requested a first floor room because of the dog and was instructed to head down a driveway where our room was next to the pool. |We were quite happy when we entered the room. The room was clean and no carpet anywhere to be found. Decent area for the dog to sniff around and do his business. I don’t know if the pool was open or not but it looked extremely dirty to me. The grounds were well kept and clean. So far extremely happy with the surroundings for the price we paid. |Now for the negative. We had a drunk guy right next door who played his old time country tunes full blast from 8:15 pm until 11:00 pm. He accompanied the music by belting out the tune (I mean screaming out) along with the song. We were exhausted from our drive and in bed around 830 trying our best to ignore the noise. It was before 1100 pm so the noise bylaw didn’t factor in here but just common courtesy (he petted our pup so he knew we were next door) would have been nice. We contemplated calling the front desk and requesting another room however we we settled in and in our pj’s so didn’t really want to haul our gear elsewhere. You can’t blame a hotel for the quality of its guests however I think the room rates attract some less desirable people staying there. It’s too bad because this RFI was...
Read moreThe room was filthy!!! The bottoms of my feet were brown after walking for a short bit in bare feet. I took a wet washcloth to a portion of the floor and the washcloth was stained brown from all the dirt. Clearly the floors are NEVER mopped. There were roaches living under the mini-fridge and they ran out every time I opened the door to the fridge. I saw at least 3. Dust on the wall behind the bed. I reserved this room a day prior online and never received my email confirmation. What's weird is that I got a pop up asking me if I wanted to use a virtual card number for security and I thought it was from my bank so I said yes. (I have since verified with my CC company that it was NOT their pop up.) I called the hotel to verify my correct email address and he resent it, but it never came. (Also checked my spam.). I gave him a different email to resend the confirmation and surprisingly it came to that one. Upon arrival the next day the paper they gave me to sign concerning the rate verification did not contain my address. When I asked the about the address in Manila I was told that the guy the night prior must have put in the wrong zip code. I PUT IN MY OWN ADDRESS AND ZIP when reserving online!! While checking out I asked to see the paper that I signed when I checked in and she refused to let me see it asking me why. I told her it has my wrong address and I want to verify it with my credit card company if they put in that address with the virtual card number. I argued for a full 5-10 minutes with this girl to let me see the paper and she kept saying they don't have it. I told her I KNOW they don't throw these out otherwise why would they have us sign it and said I wasn't leaving until she produced that paper for me. Finally she went in her drawer and pulled out the paper (that she kept saying they don't have.). Something is fishy...
