This marked my first experience at HipHop Seafood and Chicken in Tifton, and my anticipation was high. The restaurant boasts an excellent location, and the restaurant has undergone a complete transformation, both in terms of its building and interior. The front cashier exhibited politeness and efficiency as I placed my order: ten pieces of shrimp and fries for me, and trout with fries and coleslaw for my wife. During my wait, I couldn't resist inquiring about the dining experiences of those around me. One patron responded with enthusiasm, while the other two offered more lukewarm assessments.
Nevertheless, as the saying goes, the true measure of a restaurant lies in its food. To my surprise, the lunch was accompanied by a plain, lone slice of bread, which seemed somewhat out of place. A piece of cornbread with butter would have elevated its presentation and flavor. The popcorn shrimp, which was disappointingly small, and the fries were served in a Styrofoam container. When I think of shrimp, I envision full-sized pieces, even if at a higher cost. The fries were heavily seasoned with salt, and the shrimp pieces were excessively crisp from frying in oil. Visually, it left much to be desired. While the shrimp, when combined with cocktail sauce, provided an acceptable flavor, it lacked the greatness I had anticipated. The trout, encased in an over-salted cooked batter, required my wife and me to spend our lunchtime attempting to reduce its excessive saltiness. To our surprise, the coleslaw was an additional expense for a small portion.
In conclusion, every restaurant, including this one, faces stiff competition for customers. The substantial investments made in the building are evident, and I can only extend my best wishes to the owners. However, my initial visit proved to be a disappointment, and I have no intention of returning. If they want to be a great dining establishment in Tifton, maintaining their current menu is acceptable, but an overhaul in their cooking methods ...
Read moreSo tonight I went in and placed an order and just didn't like how I was served once my order was ready. So one of the cashiers had her back turnt away from the counter/customers and was facing the kitchen so I heard her yelling "10 piece chicken" two times unaware that she was talking to me because for 1) she was facing the kitchen so I assumed she was letting the kitchen employees know what she needed and 2) I thought they was going to call me by my ticket # on the receipt so there was completely no way to know that she was talking to me. So after yelling that out two times she turns around and says to me you got 10 piece chicken and I was like yeah and she says "because I already called you two times" and I responded that I didn't know that she was talking to me. That's not how a customer should be addressed at all so hopefully that doesn't continue because that's not good, friendly...
Read morestopped here while working in the area. The customer service was mediocre. Cashier was definitely not friendly or cordial. Got the Fish (Whiting)and Chicken wings combo alongside some Gizzards and Livers. The chicken wings were the star of everything as they were delicious even with the lemon powder dusting on them which I particularly don't like. The gizzards were okay alongside the lovers but the fish was absolutely disgusting. Quite frankly the worst tasting whiting I've ever had. Honestly feeling a little nauseous after eating just a few bites of which went directly to the trash. If you go here, don't order fish, stick to the chicken wings. The restaurant didn't appear to be dirty but could still see dust and dirt on window seals and had to wipe off our table before sitting down as it had...
