Wiseguys Sports Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Town of North Elba

This past Sunday, March 13, I traveled w/other ADK Thunder fans from the Glens Falls area where the Thunder are based in the Glens Falls Civic Center aka GFCC to Lake Placid for a home game. (Whole month of March NYS HS Basketball Playoffs take place in the GFCC).

Didn't know any other fans so asked Travis at the Mobil station for a recommendation of a good place to eat. He directed me across the street to Wiseguys Sports Bar U Grill. Said they had a great food. also told me if anyone gave me any trouble, tell them Travis would be over to take care of it! ha ha...what a sense of humor. Guess all the townies know each other. When I walked in, noticed other fans dressed in Thunder regalia so asked if I could join the first group I spotted w/an empty chair at their table.

They welcomed me & after a bit a chit chat, Kelly our waitstaff gal came over to take our orders. She was friendly & very efficient. I ordered a burger & fries. I don't often order beef so don't know what to tell them when they ask how do I want it cooked. I told Kelly ..."don't want it dripping blood but pink on the inside." My burger came cooked to perfection and the fries were super too! I prefer them brown but not burnt & that's just how they were delivered even though I didn't request them that way! So a place that knows how to cook fries perfectly is a keeper in my book. None of those McD's type where they are just barely cooked...yuk : ( Over all I would recommend Wiseguys as a place to eat in LP. We were referred to this local hangout by The hotel staff where we were staying. This local hangout is off the main drag in Lake Placid. They have a very nice outdoor patio...quaint and great sun. They have umbrellas at most tables to block the sunlight. Very family friendly and nice staff. As you walk in, It does appear to a little drab....but many times these are the best places for service and food~ And Wiseguys holds this to be true. Wait time on food was good. Staff very nice and courteous. I ordered the regular cheeseburger and asked for it to be cooked medium- order came as I asked. Perfectly cooked medium. Ok had some waffles fries that were tasty and crispy along with a nice cold margarita. My partner in crime ordered the Fricks Fried chicken. I highly recommend this meal as is was so crispy, juicy and tasty! Didn’t have room for dessert, but I’m sure whatever they serve is great. All the orders we saw come out looked very, very, good and great sized portions. A lot of variety on the menu and the prices are perfect!...

Terrible service. Came here at around 10:30 pm starving and looking to get some food(after not eating all day) with my friend and his sister(who was already there) after hiking 3 mountains. As soon as I walked in the door we were negatively greeted by the owner of the store who was heavily intoxicated. He stumbled over to us and asked if we were 18 in a slurred speech and we replied with yes. He then repeatedly ask if we were drunk and high on marijuana and we replied we "no, we don't drink or smoke". He then walked up to the bouncer and told him we were drunk and high on marijuana. Then owner casually walked out the door and stumbled a crossed the street as the bouncer came out and confronted us. He let my friend go inside to see his sister for a second and then kicked him out after telling him that we are both clearly intoxicated. If I could I'd give this place no stars. I'm sorry but If you own a business, you can not be drunk and/or accusing people of being drunk or on drugs. They treated us...
