Ordered: Zipang sparkling sake - decent, but on the sweet side. So I personally don't enjoy sweet drinks
Kid Bento - cute and fun for kids, sauce is poured over the rice FYI. I typically don't get my kids things like this, but there were several things on there to keep my daughter busy.
Nigiri Omakase- pretty underwhelming, I don't recommend it. There is nothing unique about each piece, really. There were only 3-4 that really stuck out to me,(I circled them in a photo) but most of the pieces lacked flavor, just tasted like plain lean fish, Wasabi, and sushi rice and im pretty sure several of them were the same fish, or even if they werent, it couldve been a better selection varying of cuts.(different ones like a blend of different fattier cuts, smoked, some sake/soy curing/aging) I was expecting each piece to have its own flavor, if you look closely at the photo several just had Wasabi on top and a grated paste. Soy sauce is placed on each fish to your liking at the table. Soy sauce tasted like a standard store, no unique mix of house blended soy sauce. Also, when the omakase was dropped off, the pieces were not explained as to what they were and which direction to eat them in. I ate from right to left as I've been taught in traditional omakase restaurants.
Geoduck Butter - I do not recommend this at all. I don't care much about the portion, but the preparation was very poor. Geoduck was thinly sliced and really chewy. Too much onions and the sauce was a weird thick gravy like sauce. It made me feel sick. Not very much geoduck to onions ratio. See photo.
Ankimo- Although the ankimo was delicious itself, the yuzu was watered down by the vast amount of seaweed and cucumber placed in the dish. So dipping the ankimo in the sauce didn't do anything for it, tasted like dipping in diluted yuzu sauce. It's the first time in any Japanese restaurant where I couldn't taste the yuzu with the ankimo. I recommend Sushi Kashibas Ankimo and Manekis.
It's been a while since I've had a poor food experience in any restaurant, I was actually expecting to have a better than casual sushi. I almost went to sushi omiya instead of here, but I figured on my day of that I would like to enjoy a popular local spot. Very disappointing food. My expectations were definitely not met. It felt like, for the most part, the fish was similar quality to omiya. :-(
Service was EXCELLENT. Really kind and friendly staff. Efficient and timely.
The ambience is super cute, fun, and adorable. They're still busy after all these years. They're definitely a good casual average sushi spot. I came in expecting better than average sushi restaurant dishes, and the omakase, ankimo, and geoduck butter have a lot of areas of improvement. It was honestly a waste of my money. And I don't mind blowing money on food as long as it's good. But that wasn't the case here. Even if it was half the price I wouldn't order those dishes again. I wish they had put ikura and amaebi or saba, just something different. I do not recommend Omakase here. You're better off ordering the...
Read moreThis is my favorite Japanese restaurant in Tukwila. This restaurant has been in operation since 2005. I recommend sushi here. I came at noon this time with my daughter. They don't take reservation and mask is required to get in the restaurant. We sat down without waiting. You must first download the menu on your mobile. Scan the code on the table and you're done. But I don't like the menu I see on my mobile phone because it's hard to see. I chose bento box. Bento is a Japanese-combo meal. It's a great way to sample the different flavor of Japanese cuisine. All Bento lunches and dinners include your choice of 2 Bento items, mixed greens, house spaghetti salad, rice and miso soup. I chosen Karaage and Tenpura. My daughter ordered Nigiri Lunch. Tuna, salmon, shrimp, hamachi, hokki, eel nigiri sushi and 4 pieces california roll served with salad and miso soup. We also asked warm tea for the drink.(free) If you are hungry, Nigiri Lunch may not be enough. But the bento box has a lot of volume, so it's good to share and eat. However, there was wood bench and table in the middle of the restaurant, and things were sloppy there, It wasn't a very good situation to sit next to it and eat. Other than that, the service and food were very good. I...
Read moreIgnore the low ratings for this place. Those people are either ridiculous or the management has done a 180. I went there last night. Great service. Amazingly tasty sushi. Is the place cheap? No, but if you want cheap sushi you can go elsewhere. Expect $12-15 per roll, for example, but the rolls have 10+ pieces on them. $20-25 would fill just about anyone's belly.
Service was great. They weren't pushy and gave us time to figure out what I wanted. They also didn't ignore me and make me wait any longer than needed in order to place my order. My server was very helpful and friendly and even suggested the guy I went with started with one roll plus appetizer rather than just try to sell as much as he could/inflate his tip. Much appreciated.
I really wanted to try the dessert here - the mango cheesecake looks intriguingly tasty - but was too full. By the time I got back to my hotel I was glad I didn't get any more.
The only exception I could see for someone not giving 5 stars is if you aren't a Seahawks fan...there's a ton of Seahawks memorabilia/objects around the restaurant but that's the only thing "wrong" with...
