Ocean Cove Motel — Hotel in Virginia Beach

This place is a JOKE! I wish i could give it a negative! The amenities don't work. The owner and his house keeper wife are sketchy. Always wanting extra money for this and that. Nickle and dimed us for anything he could! Charged a friend 15$ to VISIT and 15$ to park. Charged another person $90 just to VISIT! They make up their own prices. There was a FLAT RATE pet fee of 75$. They charged my 85.50 WITHOUT my permission. Again, FLAT RATE! Said they found out we had a dog. The owner (Steve) passed me several times with my little dog in my arms and several times on our stay. It was fine until the WIFE apparently went to my room. Which I also found she was mad she couldnt enter our room, bc it would have been against the law to enter the room with a do not disturb sign hanging up. How did i know that?? The lovely husband/owner told me. Yep, busted the wife on out. He was fine with us girls being there, men not so much. He even questioned the teenage children thinking he would get more $ for them, hoping they were adults. The housekeeper/wife is snotty and rude. No housekeeping is done. You have to ASK for towels and God forbid if u need an extra one! Everyone is "trash" but her. Yep. Even said it to my face! Shake my head. I wouldn't stay here again if YOU paid ME! In fact I have warned MANY people about this motel and the motel hell that comes along with it. I could have saved money (lots of it, being he charged for EVERYTHING! And I mean EVERYTHING!) Need tp? Better pay for it! Need towels? Thats gonna cost ya your life savings or a background check! I'd understand if this place was nice like it "states" but its a dump and I wouldn't send my worst enemy here! Ps) Guess it should have been a sign that the motel name has been changed several times...for a reason I'm sure. Fraudulent, misrepresenting...

I verified that I'm not the only person the owner of this hotel has charged "extra" for having guests over. On Expedia there are four stories similar to mine: Janie, Paola, Heather, and Joshua all reported being charged outrageously and excessively. ||||Here is my story (short version):||I booked an 8-day stay.. I was evicted after my 2nd night. They charged me for smoking on the premises my first night, $160. No warning, no leniency. When I paid the fine, the owner told me to pay in cash, not with a credit card. He said he wouldn't refund any of my payment if I checked out early. The third day, I had a couple of friends over at 11:30am. Our plans changed and they left 10 minutes later. I got summoned to the Office again. I was told I was in violation of policy by having guests, without his permission. He pointed to his policy which charges $30 extra per guest. My friends had only been there for 10 minutes! They didn't stay overnight! The owner grilled me on how I knew such unsavory people. Then he decreed it was too much hassle to let me stay. He was evicting me for non-compliance. Be out within 30 minutes or he would call the police. Next, he charged me $30 each per guest I had that morning. At checkout, I was presented with 2 documents: One, a bill which didn't include the cash fines. I was evicted, without refund, with 6 more nights paid. The 2nd detailed my misbehavior. It listed my 2 offenses and then misrepresented the amounts I paid. It listed the smoking violation as $150 instead of the $160 I paid. It stated that I “refused to pay for my 2 unregistered guests” and that this was why I was being evicted. No mention of the $30 each I actually paid. Warning: Stay away!
