When I decided to explore electric bikes, I started with the internet but knew I would want to visit a local business to see what I was getting into. I'm in my late 50's, hadn't been on a bicycle in years, and was looking for a fun hobby and more outdoor adventures.

David Thomas, owner of VB Electric Bike Center, was my first and only stop. Not only did he have several brands and models of electric bikes, he's a walking encyclopedia of information on the topic. Add to that the eye candy of color selection, fun and interesting accessories, and I knew I was in trouble.

As much research as I did about electric bikes on the internet, I was surprised by how much I DIDN'T know, and trust me, you don't want to plunk down a chunk of change only to find out you made the wrong choice. David took the time to answer all of my questions (some of which I'm sure I asked more than once!) and guide me to the absolute best bike for my height, lifestyle, and personal taste (eccentricities???). He brought to my attention several things I hadn't considered with respect to every-day useability, security, etc, and advised accordingly. Honestly, he could have sold me every add-on, accessory, and she-she accoutrement I had my hot little hands on, but he didn't.

I finally decided upon the Pedego Interceptor Step-Thru in Raspberry, and I LOVE IT!!! I can pedal my legs off if I choose or not. With the five levels of pedal-assist I don't dread the ride back after I overestimate my thighs ability or willingness to embrace my new hobby. In fact, to HELL with the pedaling- I can engage the throttle and breeze by all the spandex gurus if I so desire.

I'm not sure what kind of business practices these guys have, but the moment we parked in the shared lot, one of the employees came out asking us if we were shopping in the plaza. We were looking for a souvenir to bring back for a family member and happened upon a gift shop on google and decided to check it out. After assuring him we were shopping, one from our group went into the store while the others went to read the parking signs on the street just adjacent to the gift store. While doing so, one of the employees/owner came out watching us as if we were in the act of committing a crime and began what I assume was calling the tow company to have our car towed, not realizing one from our group had actually been in the store shopping. Went over to my car and was confronted by him about how the lot is for shoppers only. The situation was so ridiculous, so I just moved my car around the corner so we could shop in peace. All this happened in a matter of about 3 minutes. Be careful parking in front of this place, they might call in the U.S Army on...

Only and best electric bike shop in Virginia Beach. I bought mine several years ago when He had some pedego interceptors in stock. He was nice enough to make sure I received one. I've had it for 6 years and it's still going strong. They have a newer model with better range,but mine certainly goes faster than the 20 mph posted in the newer models manual. I Easily pull 28mph out of it on pedal assist. The newer ones are 4 grand in other stores, he has a new brand that he sells, they are very good and less expensive than the pedegos, Worth every dime mind you.
