I had been seeing advertisements on FB for this restaurant and after a shopping trip to Target, I decided to give them a try. When I called to see where at Hilltop they were located, I was thrown off by the plain "Hello" I received when the girl answered the phone. No mention of the restaurants name or anything. I asked for directions since I was so close to the Hilltop area. The girl on the other end of the line couldn't even give me good directions to get to the restaurant. I could not find them and the GPS didn't locate them either.....SO, I called them back and placed an order for delivery since I was also trying to decorate for the holidays. She didn't give me the Order total, even after asking "How would you like to pay?", and I said I wasn't sure if I had enough cash on me. I took the chance that I had the cash when the driver arrived. It took an entire hour for the driver to arrive (I'm within 2-3 miles of the hilltop area, if even that far). She was pleasant, didn't know the exact amount of the order either (the receipt was in her car though). The food was okay. I wouldn't say it was AMAZING or anything. The stromboli was not warm, and it was VERY thin on toppings. The marinara is a little sweeter than what I typically like, but it wasn't terrible. The spaghetti was just OK, the meatballs were very bland and very dense. I would like to think mine are better. Overall, not a terrible experience or terrible food. Just wouldn't go out of my way to order again. The phone etiquette/skills...
Read moreAwesome. I could stop this review with that one word, but here are a few more details. Family owned pizza place since 2013, so these folks care about their craft. They also clearly care about their customers. I ordered pick-up and was greeted very politely and with genuine smiles by both the lady sitting at the register and the gentleman performing his Italian-style craft behind the counter. I couldn't help but notice the contrast between the traditional, authentic Italian pizzeria decor and atmosphere, compared to the high tech ordering system that the owner had installed for both take-out and eat-in customers. Although I came at a quiet time (30 minutes before closing time on a Wednesday night), I could appreciate the effect such an ordering system would have in expediting the ordering process (read the sign when you enter about seating yourself and ordering from your table if you dine in). Now, your pizza and other food might take 5 or 10 minutes longer to get than what you might be used to at a fast food chain, and there's a great reason for that. I assure you that you will not be disappointed with the taste of the food, and the quality of the ingredients. I ordered two 16" pizzas (Hawaiian and Greek). I was blown away to finally receive a pizza in the US with actual fresh toppings and enough toppings to make the cheese base barely visible. Delicious! From the high level of customer service, to the great food, ease of ordering, and reasonable price/quality/quantity equation, you simply can't go wrong with La...
Read moreFirst time eating here.... it had extremely good ratings on Google Maps so we chose to try this place instead of Dough Boy's after a loooong walk from one end of the boardwalk to the other end and on the way back with nearly 10 elementary aged kids ranging from Kindergarten to 4th grade. We stopped here for dinner, and we were all hungry and thiiiirrrsty.... especially the kids.
First, the place was very empty. We ordered 3 pizza pies- cheese, veggies, and meat lovers. Also, garlic knots, salad, wings and fries. That said, all the kids enjoyed the cheese. Veggie was ok to me. No complaints. However, I have had much better pizza else where. I personally didn't get to try the cheese and the meat pizza, but one of the kids said the crust on the plain tasted better, and apparently, the meat one was salty from another member of our group. Most of the kids in our group did not eat the fries (although they love fries otherwise) because it was spicy. You can taste a little heat for sure. Personally, I like spicy so it didn't bother me. We ordered BBQ wings (because our kids don't do spice too well), it was smothered with a lot of sauce.
ALSO, they don't give you free water... they only have cups for your bottled water that you must purchase there. I think next time we are in the area, we'll try Dough Boys instead.... to be honest, I don't know how they have a 4.8 star rating from nearly 2000 people on Google.......
