Genuinely wish I could give a place more stars because the actual aesthetic and atmosphere is really nice. It takes a lot for me to even write a review especially a bad one.
Disappointing doesn’t even come near to our experience. From the moment we sat down to the very end of our dining experience, service was unreasonably slow and terrible.
There was a total of 4 parties in the entire restaurant including our table of 7. The other 3 tables were parties of two. Drinks took forever to finally come out. To give them a slight benefit of the doubt, we ordered coffees, juices and cocktails so it was a little understandable for it to take a little longer, but not 30 minutes.
Then we finally ordered food after sitting for almost 45 minutes waiting for the server. At least half an hour AFTER we ordered food, the server came over to inform us that they were out of smoked salmon which 3 people at our table ordered as an addition to our meals. Then after over an hour our food FINALLY came out… COLD . One meal was absolutely sloppy and unappetizing.
The manager decided to come over after we finished eating to ask about our experience. 3 of us at the table work as servers and are in the industry. We never ever complain but this place left an AWFUL taste in our mouth with the food and service.
We expressed our disappointment and the manager felt the need to inform us that his fryer and stove top apparently broke down. He did try to make things right, but we kindly asked them to remove the automatically placed 20% gratuity as we felt we should make the decision on what percentage was left after the service we experienced. Again, as someone who works in the industry and literally serves and bartends at a high level, I work extremely hard to earn my tips and this server did not deserve 20%. The manager said he wanted to give us a discount on the check and that he “absolutely” would remove the gratuity since service was terrible. These were his words. Then upon dropping the check, he said that he decided to leave the 20% gratuity on there because we ordered a large amount of drinks. We ordered a total of 4 coffees, 2 juices, 3 mimosas and 2 bloody Mary’s (not all at once, this was throughout our two hour service).
At this point we did not feel like going back and forth, we decided to pay and leave and never return. For a restaurant that wasn’t busy, service should not have been this way. There is a reason brunch was slow on a Sunday here. We will never...
Read moreAmazing food, extremely slow service, and outright Robbery for "valet parking".
We had brunch at Banter and there is literally no parking. Pulled up to the valet who was completely disinterested and took several minutes to slowly walk over to the car. The valet told us to park the car on the street and didn't even open our doors for us. The valet then charged us $20 to park which is the only parking option. Valet was not very friendly and didn't offer any type of valet service at all.
Once we walked inside, the ambiance was actually really nice. Beautiful wide open ceilings, modern furniture, and bright lighting. The seats at each table were horrible and very uncomfortable.
The service was extremely slow but the waitress was polite. We waited about 45 minutes for our food despite the restaurant being at about 30% capacity.
Now the good part, the food was genuinely incredible. Some of the best brunch food I've ever had. The French toast was outrageously good. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The bacon was very tasty and crispy. All food items would be a 9.1/10 rating. Truly VERY good. The prices were a bit high, coming in at around $40/person with no alcohol.
Overall this place has amazing brunch food and a very beautiful ambiance, but horrible "valet" service, extremely slow food service, and high prices. It should be considered that the restaurant is at the bottom floor of the hotel so guests checking in and out also may influence some of their...
Read moreWent there this weekend for brunch. Let me start by saying the hostess was a hot mess. She presented breakfast menus to us and seemed confused when I inquired about the other. She tried to assist some other guest but again seemed out of here element. There were 2 servers plus the hostess so we figured, time and attention wouldn't be an issue, we were wrong. The food was good, I will say that, but the service.... 12-15 min for drinks (only 2 other tables (2-4ppl) being served during the same time frame) and over an hour for the food. We started with a Guava and Cheese Pastelito, but it was evident it was not made fresh on location. The Croffle was delish but that hazelnut spread tasted like chocolate frosting with hazelnut extract added It was so thick and extremely too sweet and the candied pecans were missing. The Churrasco Emcebolla'o, steak was fabulous but placing it from grill to atop the yuca fries made them a soggy mess and the egg white was barley cooked thru. The other item we had was the special, the Land and Sea waffles. That was probably the dish we have the least to say, chicken & shrimp were deep fried and both were pretty tasty & shrimp weren't rubbery. No where on the menu does it say gratuity is automatically added, which wouldn't be such an issue. While we have seen this before, generally about 15-18% added, this place added a full 20% rounded up. The service was certainly not worth it, especially...
