My boyfriend and I decided to go to Yellowstone on a whim. We were lucky enough to book one day in the park at a campsite and one day in the park at a cabin.
Day number 3 we had no lodging lined up, weren't able to secure a first come first served campsite and to make it worse when we got into West Yellowstone not only was every room at every Place we inquired at booked we also had really bad service on our phones.
Fortunately one of the hotels I went to had a list of hotels in the area. I called the second hotel on the list and spoke to a girl named Natalie.
She said she had a room and would hold it for me. She asked me where I was and gave me really good directions from where I was.
They are literally on the park boundary-boundary is also the name of the street the hotel is located on. Super easy to remember.
Check in was fast and easy. Natalie offered soaps and other toiletries directly from the front desk as an assurance to guests that they are the first to use them. I declined due to having brought my own toiletries.
This place is at the best location, right outside of the park! There are many shops, restaurants, bars, even a mcdonalds in walking distance.
The rooms are perfect. Sure they dont have a coffee pot, microwave or fridge but who wants to be holed up in a room eating microwaved dinners anyway? You're in yellowstone! Get out and have the barbecue a few blocks away or the pizza right around the block.
The rooms have a bathtub to soak sore muscles from all the hiking, comfy beds for recharging with a nap or a good nights sleep, warm blankets for those extra cold nights and a TV for anyone trying to check out youtube videos of attractions in the park and get pumped for the adventure ahead.
Thanks Nataile for saving us from having to rent a $400 dollar hotel room in town or having to drive 2 hours away for a room. Thanks also for giving me your name when I akwardly popped in to ask for it on my way to dinner, its just case I wanted to write you an awesome review. You saved our day and trip to yellowstone!
I really wish we stayed just...
Read moreIf you want an overpriced hotel near Yellowstone National Park, then this is your place. We stayed here two night in a row while visiting Yellowstone and we wish we had picked a different hotel.||The hotel is close to the west gate of Yellowstone, but West Yellowstone is so small that we could have driven from a "further away" location easily.||The issues were:|-No housekeeping so after a long day at Yellowstone we came back to a unmade bed and all of our dirty towels. We were later told you have to request daily cleaning.||-Free coffee for hotel guests at the gas station next door, but they did not have lids for the coffee cups. They also did not have certain types of cream and sugar, but for us the lid was the important part because we were taking the coffee in our rental car.||-No telephone in the room||-No hairdryer in the room. You have to ask for it at check in which was another thing no one told us. We found out after our showers so we had to walk through the parking lot with wet hair and wait for someone to come to the front desk so we could "sign out" a hairdryer.||-The rooms are in dire need of renovation. Really sad furniture and bedding.||-No parking space in the lot either night we stayed, so we had to park on the street.||-Other people's cars park right outside your window and when they start their cars for an early morning departure you will be awoken. We were.||Our suggestion? Stay...
Read moreDay 1 - We arrived around 8 PM on the day of check-in, and the receptionist was extremely rude and condescending. It seems that he doesn't want to be there- he was saying like "can't you come earlier to check-in", "if you were late by another 10-15 minutes, then I would have left and you would have missed your room" etc nonsense. Dude- your job is to check-in people- you don't want your business or work there, then find something else.
Day 2 - Continuing from Day 1, the receptionist didn't mark our room as booked (they still use paper and pen, so the person didn't make the necessary changes to their roster, or that's what I was told). On Day 2, the lady in front gave someone else our room. The other couple tried to force their way into the room because they were unable to open the door, and my sister was alone in the room, trying to get some rest while we were out for dinner - it was scary and traumatic for her. Finally, the couple who had tried to enter the room left, and the receptionist had to call the person from the previous night, who made the changes afterward. When I got there and went to the receptionist, she said to me, "It was not a big deal- this is resolved- I asked if you are in the room alone and someone tried to force in, would you be okay because you made a mistake. There was no apology or reflection on what had happened; rather, it was...
