Westwood Motel — Hotel in West Yellowstone

We booked our room well in advance. Traveled a very long distance but when we arrived to check-in we were told we did not have a reservation and they were fully booked. The odd couple that works the front desk - an unfriendly and strange old man and his mean, sidekick wife couldn't have cared less. The man said another employee "must have messed up. He always messes up." But they lied. What really happened is they canceled our reservation when they were able to get a higher rate. And, yes, we are able to PROVE that happened. We were turned away with no regard. Fortunately, we were able to get a room at the property across the street. What is so gratifying is the vacancy sign was on for the 4 days while we stayed in West Yellowstone. Apparently, the people who booked the room never showed so they lost our $1200+ (we booked the family suite). :) ||||We were told by numerous people in town Westwood Motel is sub-par. Rooms are outdated and need to be fumigated. So guess things do really work for the best in the end. I will continue to post how horrible this place is and share with anyone I can to steer clear unless you like terrible customer service delivered by very weird people and low class hotel...

We loved this place! Perhaps it's not for everyone because there's no AC, but AC is coming soon per the host. The husband-and-wife team who manage the place are very accommodating and met all our needs. They are cleaning and managing by themselves (maybe one part-time helper) and are extremely hard workers. The room was very clean. We felt very comfortable with them. You don't get the impersonal feeling like you do with a chain hotel. We had a kitchenette unit and were very happy with it. The parking situation is great because it's close to your door which is helpful for the bag drag. The location is very convenient to the park and for walking to restaurants and shops, yet not on a busy street; pretty quiet. The price for the unit is very fair. It is not fancy but has everything you need (maybe could use a few more cooking items but enough to make meals and get the job done; the hostess would have gone to the store and bought anything we needed had we asked). We stayed in a queen room with kitchen. The unit was nice, clean, quiet and comfortable. The room was very well equipped. We had all the kitchen equipment and utensils we needed to cook our meals. Parking was just outside our room door. Location is excellent, very close to the park entrance. There is a supermarket across the road and lots of food and restaurants nearby.|Best of all, the owners and staff are very friendly, helpful, kind and extremely honest people. I accidentally left my diamond ring (very valuable and precious to me!!) behind when I checked out. I discovered it only when we were in Jackson Hole. After a few messages, the owners found my ring. Apparently I had dropped it and they found it on the floor wedged between the back of the bedside table and the bed. They declined my offer of a reward for finding the ring and even shipped it to me at their expense. |It is truly rare to find such wonderful people in this world! May God bless them with all...
