The good: Ocean front, sitting on patio with coffee in morning, relaxing in afternoon watching ocean. Glass was width of room - this is the only hotel I saw with this feature, and it's a big plus for me.
Hotel is clean - staff does an excellent job and maintenance is extremely helpful.
Kitchenette had coffee maker, toaster, etc. Everything was usable and contained what was expected.
Bike racks outside were great since we brought our own.
The not so good: Caveat - most Wildwood hotels were built between 1957-1970. While the designs are nice to look at, they have severe shortcomings, particularly when compared with modern hotels. I will say that Water's Edge is better than most others we've stayed at.
Noise - The design of the hotel lends itself to street noise, as the entrance in the rear is open to parking area and street.
View - Yes, you are looking at the ocean, unless you're on floor 1 (we were not) - you see a parking lot, or pool fence depending on location. On floor 3, we were overlooking a large patio area which meant anyone there could look right into our room.
Bathroom - Desperate need of renovation. Everything did work well and plenty of hot water and pressure in shower. The bathroom door opened out into the room which I found odd. Upon closer inspection, I saw it had originally opened in (this is correct), but was modified. Only reason I can see is they put a towel rack on the wall which would have prevented the door from opening all the way. Having it open out was problematic as someone passing by could get hit - and they did.
Safe - I complained there was no safe on day 2 only to be told that there was a safe and that I should have read the paper given to me and asked for a key ($10 deposit). The safe is merely a metal box they installed in the wall, approx 12"x12"x2" (ours was in the bathroom and rusting). We were able to cram our valuables in which provided some measure of security.
Egress - Elevator - there's one in the center of the building. It's large (this is very good) but it's also used by the maid staff during check out time (this is very bad). The stairs are on either end of the building, so if you get frustrated with the elevator (only ground floor shows where the elevator is), you must walk all the way to one end of the building instead of having the stairs easily accessible as an...

Stayed at this motel the week of the 4th of July, 2024. Overall a very satisfactory stay.
Exterior: The pool is very warm. We spent time at the ping pong and pool table, which provided some fun games for my kids and I. The oversized gas grill was very convenient. We stayed on the SunDeck, and I would not rent another room on the sun deck as that was greatly lacking privacy if our blinds were open, which is to be expected. Conveniently across the street from the beach, with a easy path to the beach.
Interior: The beds are motel beds, they certainly left something to be desired. Not exactly overly comfortable or leaving you want to sleep in. The AC has High/Low/Off settings, so there’s not much regulating that. The bathrooms and the entire motel room was very clean, along with being clean daily by a very friendly maid service. The front desk staff was very accommodating however if I were to stay here again I would rent a larger room, as that comes with a second parking spots out back in their lot, as the other spots are incredibly tight, which resulted in a door-ding from the vehicle next to me, which was certainly a frustrating moment to find on a new car.
Other: The proximity to the boardwalk is around a block from the end of it which it was OK, but left for some longer walks if you are down towards the middle or other end of the boardwalk late at night. You can Uber or take the tramcar which is a decent but somewhat costly option. The proximity to the Acme grocery store is about one mile which was very convenient. the elevator can be slow at times but on vacation.
All in all, would recommend. Nice...
Read moreWe just spent a week here and everything was wonderful. I grew up in the 90's coming here as a kid, and this is my 2nd time staying as an adult. Despite the obvious nostalgia factor, our experience at the hotel was awesome in every aspect. All of the staff- from the front desk to the maintenance staff, and especially the maid staff, were excellent. Super friendly, super accommodating. If anyone is a 1st time guest I would recommend bringing grill foods as there is a covered grill area- this will save a ton of money.
From the abundance of 5* reviews I've just read, I read at least 2 reviews with 3*'s regarding maids and their carts being on the elevators with guests.. and it blew my mind. And irritated me to read. The carts.... with the cleaning supplies.... and the clean linen.... that ensure the rooms are clean and stocked for all guests. I will gladly share an elevator with anyone trying to do their job, and doing it as well as their staff does. Compared to the reviews of the adjacent spot where they can't get service if they tried, for days, I'm fine with sharing an elevator and can't believe people brought this up as an issue.
Thank you to all of the staff at the Waters Edge for providing excellent service with an exceptional, genuinely positive and happy demeanor. And Ms. Mia behind the desk, you'd never know she was there! So Cute. Next time I'll...
