BEWARE, READ, DON’T BOOK, YOU’LL REGRET IT. RUINED VACATION
This was our FIRST and LAST TIME staying at The Brittany. The Brittany ruined our vacation and we spent an hour after checking in trying to get the MOLD off the AC vents. Before booking, we read the reviews and didn’t find anything that would make us not book. Now that we stayed, we feel like the reviews were VERY MISLEADING and don’t honestly represent the hotel.
Stay: 8/16/25-8/19/25. Room 312 (started at room 107). The hotel can contact me if they want to discuss these issues and provide a partial refund. Was supposed to be $678.37 for room 107. We ended up paying a total of $899.94 for room 312. To pay almost $900 and have our room reek of mold, is absurd. We were told room 312 was a suite and should have been $425 a night during the summer, so they were giving us a “discount”. We realize this is their hotel and they need to defend it. However, when they pretend they aren’t aware of the room smelling like mold, and made us to feel like we are the problem.
CONS: Rooms smell like MOLD, not clean, stained beds, mold in the shower, thick fur like dust on vents, black mildew on vents, what looked like poop on the floor. (See pictures)
We booked a small hotel room 107. Upon checking in, we go to the room, and once we open the door a STRONG mildew smells hits us in the face. The light doesn’t work to look around the room. This is when we go to the front desk. They tell us they have only 1 room available as they are fully booked, but it is a suite and will cost us more.
We pay the additional money and check in to our new room 312. There are 3 beds. Two of the beds are soooo dirty that I wouldn’t even sit on them. They have stains and hair on the sheets of the made bed. I don’t think they changed them. (See pics) I didn’t see any bed bugs which is why we stayed. The third bed was cleaner and we felt stuck since they were fully booked. It was either stay and deal with the room or go home after a 5 hour drive. After checking in we start seeing how DISGUSTING the room is. They use this hotel deodorizer spray that masks the mold smell. The AC vent has black thick mold on them, the other vent has thick fur like dust on it, there was a smear of what looked like fecal matter on the floor, the screen was ripped, the curtains were broken and hanging, there was a layer of dust on all the furniture, the toilet was dirty and chipped, the shower head leaked and dripped from the faucet (needs maintenance) the towels smelled like rubber and were very rough, broken toothbrush holder, the blankets in the closet were not clean and smelled dirty, there was hair on the floor. We didn’t even unpack as the place was so disgusting. We kept our luggage on the table to prevent anything from crawling in it. We tried to clean the mold for an hour after our check in, but it didn’t help. We ended up keeping the screen door open the entire stay because the mold smell was SO BAD. Which as you can imagine was very loud with The Point bar right across the street. Being centrally located is a good thing, but very noisy. This was supposed to be the “remodeled” room. I’m sorry, but putting gray paint on the walls does not make a room remodeled. The parking is horrible. Most of the spots are double, which means, if you block someone in, you have to leave your keys with the front desk. They do have a parking lot across the street which is overflow parking next to a huge pile of garbage. Supposed to be a smoke free hotel, but it isn’t. I saw two people smoking out near the pool, so this is not reinforced and it smells like pot. This hotel doesn’t have the usual amenities like tissues, alarm clock or a phone. The WIFI password listed in the room isn’t accurate so we couldn’t connect to WIFI. We tried to spend as little time in the hotel as possible. Their maintenance and housekeeping staff need TRAINING.
PROS: The front desk gentleman was nice. The AC was very cool. The view from the room, I could see the ocean. The pool was clean...
Read moreWe booked through Travelocity. Travelocity showed a nightly price and I booked it. Afterwards, I realized that I got an additional charge on top of the advertised price. I booked a "family suite" which I assumed would be right for a family which was advertised as sleeping five. However, I was unexpectedly charged $60 extra per night for having more than two guests in the room! What is the point of booking a "family suite"? Travelocity’s website asks how many guests would be staying in the room, and I entered that there would be five. It seems to me that their website should then adjust the prices shown based on this, rather than baiting and switching prices by leaving out the charges for “additional” guests (above two) until you get to the invoice. Beware that the nightly price Travelocity shows very well might not be what they end up charging you, even beyond reasonable surcharges like taxes. Furthermore, the onus is on the Brittany Motel to ensure that its rooms are properly advertised online and elsewhere. They shouldn’t say that the room sleeps five if they intend to charge you extra later for bringing more than two people total.
I contacted Travelocity and spoke to a manager. They told me that it was a charge tacked on by the Brittany Motel and they could not do anything about it. After checking in at the motel and telling the clerk that one guest would not be staying the last two nights we were there, he took off those $40. Surprisingly, he asked me to cancel my Travelocity reservation, as he didn’t want the company to charge him the commission. This strikes me as cheap, like he’s trying to cheat Travelocity and its users into advertising his motel for free. I likely wouldn’t have chosen this hotel to begin with if I had known about the deceptive online price advertising. I’ll certainly be more careful in the future when choosing hotels on Travelocity and other...
Read moreLet me start by saying the women at the desk were so nice that it was hard to rate this hotel as poor. To begin with, there were bugs in the room, in addition to MULTIPLE flies, there were also those bugs that come out of the drain everywhere. I spend about 20 minutes killing them all. Then the air condition did not work well, we had all of the door closed and locked, windows locked and closed and I checked multiple times. Although it was 95 degrees outside, out room was 90 degrees and the air was just being blown around. The shower BARELY drained, it drained so slow that only one person could take a shower every hour before it drained again. In addition, the "refrigerator" did not actually keep things cold, I put a water bottle in the freezer section overnight, and when I woke up, it was still liquid. The refrigerator had a puddle of water in it when we first got there, after cleaning that out it did not keep anything cold. The pool was so overcrowded. There is a kiddie pool advertised but this is not a kiddie pool. There is basically a corner seat inside the pool, and they put a metal partition which is more like a railing, inside the pool to make it act as a barrier. The hotel was not very clean, and I am very upset. I have never been disappointed with a place before and I will definitely never go back. The beds in this place were so loud that when I got in the bed, it squeaked so loud it woke up my nephew in the bed next to me and he is not a...
