I'm not really sure where to begin. The room I stayed in was quite filthy, in fact I could hardly move in the bathroom due to the size being ridiculously small. I got trapped in there multiple times because the door handle was so jacked up it wouldn't open once it was locked. The chairs in my room were filthy - covered in stains that I don't want to question. The day I was leaving I had a dress hanging behind the door on a hook when the friends I was on vacation with staying in another room came to mine to help carry my things to the car. They were holding the door open for me so I had totally missed my dress that was hanging up behind it. I called later that day not too long after I had hit the road so they could put my dress to the side and send it back to me as it was a very meaningful piece of clothing. The woman I spoke with took down my information and explained the process of receiving my dress. A week had gone by and beings that I live in New Jersey - a few hours away I was expecting it to be at my house. I called again requesting tracking information when I was told by the same woman I spoke with the first time so casually " yeah, I lost all your information " so I gave it to her again and asked when I should be expecting it as I work a lot and do not want to miss the delivery. She had a slight attitude with me the whole time on the phone and told me " we're very busy, we have a lot to send out so when I get the time I'll send it - relax, you'll get your dress back". So I believed her. Another week had gone by so I called again - knowing if I didn't stay on top of this I wouldn't get my dress back. Before I get too far - when I stayed here with my friends any time we went into the office the girls or whoever was working was sitting there on their phones, but they're too busy right?? Once calling again I spoke to a woman that worked at the Britney motel who now had my dress and promised to send it out on Monday, so I trusted her too because she seemed really nice and helpful. Again, a week went by and nothing. The final time calling I requested my mom do it as I know myself and wouldn't have been very nice. She spoke to a supervisor by the name Rob who said "yes we sent the dress on Monday" so my mom requested he give us the tracking number and he insisted on her calling back but she said no, and waited. A woman by the name of Sofia got on the phone and so casually said " yeah, we never sent it" so they lied. Needless to say my mother and I were infuriated. She told Sofia to put it to the side and today my mother and I drove 3 1/2 hours each way to spend 1 minute getting my dress back. When I walked in - the picture below is who I was greeted by. A very "busy" man who didn't say hello nor make eye contact with me and continued to be on his phone. When I told him I was there to get my dress, he continued to be on his phone as he mumbled something I couldn't understand and I said "excuse me?" when he finally looked up and said "room 41?" and went back to his phone. I said yes and he sent another male to retrieve my dress. No more words were exchanged and I took this photo to share with all of you because of this terrible customer service experience. I can't believe I was treated this way, or that others who are supposed to be helpful and welcoming were just lazy and really lack in the manners department. I'm not saying don't stay here - but...
Read moreWhen we arrived the guy at the counter, I will refer to him as mister no personality tried to say I booked a single bed room which I did not, I showed him my reservation paper which he also had a copy of where it clearly stated 2 double beds. Next he asked for my credit card to charge me for the room, to which I said I already paid a deposit, he said 3 times he did not charge me anything and to check my bank. Well low and behold I did just that and guess what, there it was a $75 charge from the Skylark. He then busted out his big old calculator from 87 and proceeded to perform brain surgery or as I call it subtraction of the amount I paid from the total if the room. Guess what somehow there was an extra dollar in his calculations, to which I disputed and had him perform the brain surgery again on his calculator. I finally got charged the correct amount and got a single room key, now I really felt like a 70's porn star picking up a hooker. We walked 2 doors away to our room and unlocked the door and leaned against it to get it to open. The room appeared ok, keyword is appeared. After inspection we found black mold on the floors against the walls around the night stand the mini fridge and microwave unplugged, the wall ac unit had its breaker tripped, the TV unplugged which you had to pull out the dresser from the wall to plug it in. One bed squeaked so loud you could barely roll over on without sounding like you were playing Ron Jeremy, the other was like sleeping on a sheet covered piece of plywood. The bathroom was huge though about 20sq ft lol you could sit on the toilet while brushing your teeth, the shower stall was so small you could barely turn around in it, no shampoo and no conditioner either just el cheapo soap patties. To top it off the family own a small deli attached to the motel and get this our window in the bathroom goes into the deli and there's a light on in there constantly. We paid good money for a turd, stay away. Fyi the deadbolt on the door will not lock...
Read moreWe were sold on this motel the moment we met the man at the front desk (we believe is the owner). We had left another motel that we weren’t pleased with and still had another night we wished to stay. Found this motel for a reasonable price a few blocks away and decided to walk down and check it out. Met the “owner” and discussed our issues at the previous motel and he was immediately accommodating. He offered to show us one of the rooms, let me test the water pressure of the shower and look around for cleanliness and upkeep. We were very satisfied and I had showed him the price online that I saw incase that could only be booked online and he gave us that price PLUS upgrades us to his best room. He also let us park before and after our stay so that we didn’t have to worry about our car and things while we hit the beach and boardwalk. ||||The ONLY complaints we have are that the room we got was the last one in the row right next to main road and it was very noisy with people racing by and beeping. That died down for bedtime so that’s not truly a standing complaint. The other thing that kind of stunk was the main door. You could see the daylight the full way around the door and it didn’t fit snug. We just tucked an extra towel under it to force it to snug to the door frame and that did its job. ||||Honestly, it’s not fancy but it does it’s job. We didn’t intend on being in our room for more than to sleep and shower and that’s what the room did for us. The bathroom is completely renovated, the AC worked wonderfully and the beds were clean and comfy. I hope that despite its aged exterior that you give...
