This is long but 100% worth the read.
My sister and I booked this place a couple months prior. We noticed the requirement that all guests have to be 22. So my sister messaged the owner, Rodger, twice to confirm that both of us are not 22. He replied both times with saying that it was fine we were not 22. We get there to check in the woman at the front desk was questioning us about being under 22. We proceeded to show her the messages between my sister and Rodger and she said that we didn’t specify that one of us is 17. However, Rodger did not ask and did not seem to care. Why would we come somewhere 6 hours from our hometown to risk not having a place to stay…? The woman at the desk called Rodger, figured it out and asked for our IDs. We gladly handed them to her and she looked at us and said, “so you guys aren’t actually sisters, right?” We replied with “yes, we are” She questioned us and said “Well you guys have different last names so.” I said to her, “yes, because we have different fathers.” She then shook her head and proceeded to check us in. From the behavior we received from her, we did not feel welcomed and felt disrespected. Completely unprofessional.
We get into the room and just do a quick look around.. here is a list of things we noticed right away:
We found a bug in the drawer. We found a hair in the fridge. All of the furniture was really dusty. The room smelled. There was a mark on our bed sheets. The AC unit was very loud-hard to fall asleep with on if you have trouble falling asleep. The linings of the doors were so dusty. The bathroom cabinet was filthy. The toilet was horrendous.
The inside of the drawers smelled old. With that being said, we didn’t even want to put our clothes away inside of them because we knew the would just smell from being in there. So we had to stack all of our clothes on the small table that was next to our bed. The mini fridge only got cold in some areas.
The people who come to clean your rooms don’t even clean. They just give you 2 new towels each time and toilet paper if you ran out. They skipped our room for 2 days (yes our sign on the door was up telling them it was time to “make up” our room) we had to walk over to the Quebec hotel that is connected to the key west and had to do a towel exchange. When they gave us the new towels we looked at them and there were black and brown marks on them.
I could be wrong about this.. I have no idea but I honestly believe they didn’t even change our bedsheets.
The hot water took forever to kick on in the shower and when it did it was hard to keep it at that temperature.
There were chips/holes in the bathroom and missing tile from the wall.
You are given a parking permit to hang up in your car and permitted to park in certain areas. We drove around for 10 minutes (more than once) to try and find a parking spot that they allowed for you to park in. The parking lots are so small.. not good for wider cars.
The people were never at the front desk. We only saw someone there about 2-3 times of being there for a whole 7 days. It’s like they leave you to run the hotel yourself..
Moral of the story.. I wouldn’t stay here. Yes it’s nice and close to the boardwalk but not worth spending on. People aren’t nice and...
Read moreI take bad reviews with a grain of salt … you can’t make everyone happy 100% of the time, but please listen to these bad reviews. Wish I would have. I would like to leave negative stars, but I can’t. Check in isn’t till 4pm and check out is 10am… that’s a stretch in my opinion. No one is even at the front desk until 4. Most places allow early check in if you’re there within a few hours of check in. The room is tiny. My walk in closet is bigger than the room. The beds are like cardboard and the blankets are so thin. Most uncomfortable bed ever. The room smelled and the carpet was gross. It was like staying in a shoddy apartment complex. You heard people walking upstairs, throwing things, and just making obnoxious noise. It sounded like they were going to fall through the ceiling. We had an issue and “maintenance” had to come look at it. 3 people came to my room within 5 mins of each other. The first person did nothing, the second person also did nothing, but had the audacity of accusing us of smoking in the room. We don’t even smoke. Third person came in and ultimately took care of the issue and I asked him if it smelled like smoke and he said no. He then told us that people smoke in the rooms all the time and they have a smoke machine just because of that issue. They also keep the front door to the lobby open and the back door. I was smelling cigarette smoke all in my room at 3 am, and it wasn’t us. Also, how safe is it to keep all the doors open 24/7? Anyone can just walk into the building. The only positive about this place is the location. It was super close to the boardwalk. I’m honestly annoyed that I spent over $500 on this junky room. It’s embarrassing and I will absolutely never stay again. The pictures do not paint an accurate depiction of this place. I would have rather paid $500 more just to have a nicer place. There is no pool, which wasn’t a big deal for us, but If you’re looking for a pool… keep it moving. If you do stay here, you get 10% off your check at the Pink Cadillac Diner which is right next door. Food was pretty decent.
Just save your money. Not...
Read moreUpon arrival, staff informed me that despite having booked my hotel room through Booking.com, my room type was not guaranteed. We requested a room with a bunk bed but got a very small room with two full sized beds. This was found after walking up three floors in a building with no central air and only a small window unit in the room. ||The room remained uncomfortable throughout our trip. We found black hairs on pillow cases, sheets, and stuck to the walls of the very small shower. The shower head was covered in mineral buildup and barely sprayed until I rubbed it off. It took 6 minutes for our shower to fully heat up - we timed it after 3 of us attempted to shower and found it only to be cold water for a prolonged period of time. The bathroom door didn’t stay shut and it was so small, it made it very hard to actually going to the bathroom for myself and my brother, and we are both 5’10”.||We couldn’t even walk in part of our room due to an oversized entertainment unit with a TV only visible on one of the beds as the doors on the unit blocked the view. We had no table as they had a small fridge and a microwave between the beds. We had only one outlet to plug a single charger into despite 4 people being in the room, each with a phone.||Then came one of the most annoying parts of the stay: our electronic hotel keys all failed at the same time. I had to walk down 3 flights of stairs, go out a back door, and walk between 2 parking lots, by dumpsters and trash cans, to go into the office at the Quebec Hotel to get help because there is no one at the front desk accept for check out and check in times. It was then that a kind front desk worker explained that if you have your cell phone anywhere near the key cards, they stop working.||At check out the next day, no one was at our front desk and once again, I had to go to another hotel to check out.||This hotel appeared to be a good bargain for the location to the beach but I will never be returning again. I had family in from the Midwest and was entirely embarrassed...
