We've been coming to AA Heart of Wildwood for many years. We came when the kids were little and the owner was Mary. We enjoyed coming because location was very close to the boardwalk and she took pride in owning this hotel. And it showed with how clean it was and how she kept things up to date. But since the new owners have taken over, I honestly would not come back here next time I'm basing my answer on the fact that AA Heart of Wildwood customer service and just overall quality of the room I had. There was a serious issue The room had no smoke detectors at all. When I arrived on Sunday I notified the front desk. They inform me that they would get one for my room immediately. Sunday night when we arrived back to our room after an evening on the boardwalk there was no smoke detector. I woke up the next morning and informed the front desk again. Monday night the same thing. By Tuesday morning I had enough and I demanded a smoke detector be placed immediately otherwise I was going to file a complaint At this point they finally found a smoke detector and replaced it. The rooms were not kept clean by the maid staff while we were staying there things were left on the floor soap scum around the shower and sink. Things were broken in the room were non-operational and out dated. If you have an issue and you need to call the front desk there's no phone in the room. The hotel is in a desperate need for a major update. I feel like they need a lot of updates to things. I informed the front desk about the cleanliness of the room items broken in the room and the smoke detector I requested the discount. The girl at the front desk told me that she would contact the owner. Upon my last day when I was checking out I was informed that they would not be giving me a discount. The owner is not present at the hotel and doesn't seem to care about it at all. It's just a moneymaker They don't care about people safety The quality of the hotel whether or not things are being taken care of properly. If we return back to Wildwood next year we will not be staying...

✅ Pros • Excellent Location: Prime Wildwood spot, walkable to the beach and boardwalk. • Cleanliness: Rooms and facilities were clean and presentable. • Classic Wildwood Vibe: Perfectly kitschy and nostalgic if that’s what you’re expecting. • Reasonable Accommodations: Basic but fine for a short stay. • Ocean Views: Many rooms offer a view of the ocean or partial sea breeze. • Three Pools (Usually): Guests technically have access to three pools across two hotel buildings. • Exceptional Staff Member – Sergei: • The only bright spot in the staff—warm, welcoming, helpful, and sincerely guest-focused. He handled everything professionally and made a real effort to assist.
❌ Cons • Rude Management: • The manager (British accent) and her assistant (Spanish accent) were rude, dismissive, and unapproachable. Guest concerns were brushed off without empathy or accountability. • No Hot Water for Two Days: • There was no hot water for 48 hours, and the response was appalling. When I asked for a discount at checkout, I was told I should’ve complained the day before—as if staying polite was a mistake. Other guests who complained earlier were compensated. If you didn’t confront them aggressively, you were out of luck. • This “you should’ve complained sooner” excuse felt deeply unfair and unprofessional. • Closed Rooftop Pool (Undisclosed): • The rooftop pool—a main attraction—was closed for construction the entire time. No mention of this during booking, which felt deceptive. • Lack of Customer-Centered Culture: • Besides Sergei, the staff seemed disinterested in resolving problems or providing any kind of hospitality.

⚠️ Final Verdict
This hotel could be a great stay—location, views, and layout are all there—but it’s sabotaged by poor management, a lack of accountability, and shockingly rude service. Worst of all is the attitude: unless you demand things and escalate, you’re ignored or blamed. Trying to be polite resulted in being dismissed.
Until major management changes are made, we strongly recommend avoiding...
Read moreTerrible. This was our 3rd consecutive year staying here. Paid over $4,300 for the week for my family. Roof top pool was closed again. Main pool was green & filthy. I was told several times that it was fine which was obviously a lie. After complaining about the pool numerous times we were finally told that there was a problem several weeks ago with a pipe bursting that affected the entire town. Funny thing is every other hotel pool in town was blue and clear except this one. The third much smaller pool they have was blue but, very cold. I was told that pool was blue because it was a "fiber optic" pool. What? They just kept lying about it all week until the health department actually came out and closed the pool. They even went so far as to post a sign overtop of the health department closure sign to try to hide it! After that they finally had a professional pool company come out to fix it. Within 1 day the water was blue and clean again. Unfortunately that was the day we were leaving. The owners need to start putting some money back into this place. It's falling apart. Even the staff complains about the conditions. Beds were hard and uncomfortable. Direct TV was not working. Rooms are not clean. Shower drain was almost completely clogged. Even the air filter for the AC was filthy and clogged. When we checked in the AC in our room had been turned off and the windows were partially open. It was like 82 degrees in our room. Even the refrigerator was turned to low and was not even cool. There doesn't seem to be any thought put into the overall condition of the property or the guests satisfaction and comfort, just profits. The location of this hotel is amazing but, I just can't overlook these failures anymore. We've had many issues in the 3 years we've been coming here but, this year was the final straw. The amount of money it costs to stay here is just no longer worth all the issues and problems. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else that hopefully values...
