Just OK - I suggest you try somewhere else.
Having messaged in advance via Facebook due to it being a holiday and the Facebook page recommending to make a booking ahead, it was far from a seamless experience. The guy was somewhat surprised when we arrived. So much so, my partner started his massage with the guy who first met us. The other massage guy had yet to arrive. Never mind, I wait.... "2min" was not 2min. OK - maybe they are short staffed. When he arrived (more than 2mins later may I add), they enjoyed a good catch up. Somewhat a not very relaxing environment even with soothing music playing and the lights turned down low. The place was somewhat mouldy on the walls and until my partner requested for the AC to be turned on, it was a little stuffy and stale smelling; a thought you could not get out of your mind whilst you were being kneaded.
The massage was OK, but unfortunately not as relaxing as one would hope.
When paying, 500,000vnd for 90mins, I can't help feel that it was all a bit slap dash and a rush job. Some parts of the vietnamese full body massage were good, but it was just like my review title says - "OK".
Even though I started late, we both finished the same time. Slightly before 90mins of my partner starting but never mind, there is a 10% off discount for travelgayasia sign up.
With the limited English at this point (which is understandable as I do not speak Vietnamese), the lead guy just looked blank when showing him the e-discount email and said "1mil Dong". We did not challenge it and paid 1mil and gave them a small tip. The reply was "tip too low" which yes it was if taken as face value, but taking into the fact that 10% is 50,000 plus our cash tip of 20,000 = 70,000vnd (per person) is what I thought was adequate for an OK experience.
In summary, I suggest you just try somewhere else. As much as it's good to support the community and having visited the other gay bars in Hanoi and the rest of the world, in hindsight, I would prefer and suggest to anyone else to spend money with an establishment where the massage is better than just OK.
I hope this...
Read moreOn my trip to Hanoi, I visited Tori spa multiple times. This little gem is worth the visit.
It is located in a somewhat private alley/street but is not hard to find and the signage above the entrance is clearly visible. The lobby area is comfortable, appropriately lit, and smells good. Matt, the owner/manager, will ensure your satisfaction and works hard to minimize your wait (both times I went, I didn’t have an appointment, although you can make one). The rooms are private and spacious.
I had two different therapists on my visits and both were excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed my experiences.
As for pricing, the rates are extremely reasonable. The 90 minute full body massage is a great value.
I will add one additional comment…if you’ve never been to a men’s spa before and are a bit nervous or anxious, let Tori Spa be your first experience. You will feel very at ease as soon as you meet Matt. He has a welcoming smile and a warm personality.
Overall, I highly recommend Tori Spa. If you’re like me, you’ll be a...
Read moreDuring our 9 day trip to Hanoi, my partner and I decided to visit Tori spa for a body massage on our second day, and we ended up returning 2 more times! We tried 3 different treatments: Swedish, Thai and Vietnamese, and everytime we left feeling refresh and energized. The masseurs that massaged me had very skilled and strong hands which made the massage really enjoyable and relaxing.
With the wide range of services they provide, they may be short staffed sometimes, so it is very important that you contact them via FB to make an appointment so that they can make the necessary arrangements.
The owner of the spa, Matt, was also really nice and accomodating and he was very open to any feedback that we had regarding our massage so if you do have any feedback, feel free to let him know and he will gladly listen with open ears.
The spa is located in an alley so be sure not to miss it!
It has only been 1 day since we returned from our holiday in Hanoi and we are already missing the massage, so be sure not to miss it when...
